Identify visa type
Choose the right visa for your trip
The first step is to determine which visa type you need, and check whether you’re eligible to apply for it.
You’ll also need to know the documents that you’ll have to submit along with your application, how long the application might take and fees you’ll have to pay.
Each application must comply with the guidelines applicable for your visa category.
If your documents are not in English, you may need to get translations prepared before applying.

Print the completed form, and bring it with you to the Visa Application Centre for submission.

Book an appointment
Choose a Visa Application Centre and make an appointment
Once you’ve booked your appointment, you’ll receive an email confirmation, which you need to print and bring along with the visa application form on the day of your appointment.
If you are part of a family or group, you’ll have to book individual appointments for each member of the family or group.
If you intend to stay in Germany for a longer period (Stay more than 90 days and is applicable for Dubai and Abu Dhabi), then you need to apply for a National German Visa (Category D).
A) FOR SHORT STAY (Stay up to 90 days and is applicable for Dubai and Abu Dhabi)
Applications for short stay visas are accepted at the Visa Application Centre through prior appointments.

Secure payment of AED 70.00 for Dubai and AED 96.25 for Abu Dhabi must be made via a credit card on the website, for an immediate appointment confirmation (all applicable taxes included). In return, you will be given a visa appointment letter and receipt.
The visa fees must be paid in cash at the Visa Application Centre at the time of application submission. Please carry a print-out of your appointment letter when you visit the Visa Application Centre for your appointment.
Each individual requires a separate appointment and will submit a separate application. For example, if a family or group of five is applying for visas, then 5 appointments must be made.
The Visa Application Centre in Abu Dhabi will only accept Visa Applications from persons holding residence visa issued by the Emirate of Al Ain and Abu Dhabi. Persons holding residence visa issued by the Emirates of Dubai / Sharjah / Ras Al Khaimah / Ajman / Umm Al-Quwain/ Fujairah would have to submit their applications to the Visa Application Centre in Dubai.
Appointments scheduled under one application centre cannot be transferred or changed to another application centre. For example, an appointment for Abu Dhabi cannot be transferred or changed to Dubai and vice versa.
Appointments are in high demand; applicants are requested to arrange their visa appointment well in advance. If the payment is unsuccessful, a new appointment can be scheduled only after 1 hour.

Rescheduling an appointment:
You can reschedule your appointment twice and up to 2 working days prior to your scheduled date.
Further change in date will be considered as a fresh appointment and a new service charge will be applicable.
Cancelling an appointment:
You can cancel your appointment only 2 days prior to the scheduled date.
In order to make a new appointment a service charge payment will be applicable.
B) FOR LONG STAY (Stay more than 90 days and is applicable for Dubai and Abu Dhabi)
Visa applications for National German Visa are accepted on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. If you wish to schedule your long stay visa appointment, then write to us at Germany.longstay@vfshelpline.com and include the information below in the body of your email.
Applications are accepted at the German Consulate through mandatory appointments only. To schedule an appointment, you are requested to send an email with the following details to Germany.longstay@vfshelpline.com
• Name and date of birth of the applicant:
• Passport number and expiry date:
• Email address and contact number:
• Purpose of stay/Visa category:
• UAE Residence visa
In return, you will be provided with an email confirmation for your scheduled appointment, depending on the earliest available slot.

Pay your fees

The service fee is paid online at the time of booking an appointment while the visa fees is payable at the Visa Application Centre
Payments can be made by cash/card.
The fees once paid cannot be transferred or refunded. A fresh appointment and a new service charge will be applicable. If you wish to cancel your appointment, the service charges and any fee paid online is non refundable.
Terms and conditions
The service charges and fees paid online are non-refundable in the following situations and a new appointment will have to be scheduled:
* If you miss your appointment on the scheduled date
* If you are delayed for your appointment and cannot be accommodated on the same day
* If your application is incomplete as per the guidelines and the application cannot be accepted
* If you are unable to proceed with your appointment as you have selected the Visa Application Centre location incorrectly.
* If you decide not to proceed with the application
* If you cancel your appointment

Visit a Visa Application Centre
Attend your scheduled appointment
You’ll have to submit your complete visa application form at the Visa Application Centre in person.

Track your application
Stay informed about the progress of your application
You will receive an email update when your decision has been returned to the Visa Application Centre. If you can’t access email easily, or would like more detailed tracking information, you may also be able to get updates by SMS sent directly to your phone. Check whether this service is available at the Visa Application Centre you are visiting.
You can also track your visa application status online. Use the Reference Number present on the invoice/receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre along with your last name to access this service.

Collect your passport
Receive your passport from the Visa Application Centre
After a visa application decision has been made, you can pick up your passport from the Visa Application Centre or have your passport returned to you by courier for an additional fee. For some Visa Application Centres your passport will only be returned via courier.
Collecting your passport in person: bring the receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre and a form of Government identification of UAE (Emirates ID). If permitted you may be able to send a representative to collect your passport; they will need to present a letter of authorisation signed by you, bring the receipt issued to you by the Visa Application Centre and their Government identification.
Please check with the Visa Application Centre at time of your appointment for the options available to collect your passport.
Please note that the time for passport collection is from Sunday to Thursday between 09:00 to 17:00 in Dubai and 15:00 to 17:00 in Abu Dhabi.
