  • Identify visa type

    Choose the right visa for your trip

    The first step is to determine which visa type you need, and check whether you’re eligible to apply for it.

    You’ll also need to know the documents that you’ll have to submit along with your application, how long the application might take and fees you’ll have to pay.

    Each application must comply with the guidelines applicable for your visa category.

    If your documents are not in English, you may need to get translations prepared before applying.

    COUNTER APPLICATION

    Regardless of a passport issue country and visa category, eVisa will be applicable. Issued visa is sent to the designated e-mail address on visa application form.

    To avoid delays please ensure you read the following steps carefully:

    Counter applications can be made by applicants themselves or by their representatives

    Applicants resident in China can submit their applications in person at the counter at the New Zealand Visa Application Centers in Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai or Chengdu, between 08:00 – 15:00 (Monday – Friday, except Public Holidays).

    Applicants resident in Hong Kong or Macau can submit their applications in person at the counter at the New Zealand Visa Application Centre in Hong Kong between 08:00 – 15:00 (Monday to Friday, except Public Holidays).

    Step 1:

    All applicants: make photocopies of your passport (bio page and all pages with visa labels/entry & exit stamps one each) and supporting documents.

    Step 3:

    The Visa Fees, VFS Global Service Fee are applicable per application. The Visa Fees, VFS Global Service Fee are applicable per application.

    Postal application submission and visa fee remittance are ONLY available for people lawfully residing in China, Hong Kong and Macau. Applications mailed from other countries are not acceptable at the Visa Application Centres.

    Must include along with application:

    • ONE EMS Airway Bill per Passport that will be used to return your passport (s). (Please complete the information of the receiver and do not remove any leaf from the Airway Bill)

    Step 5:

    The checklist will be verified by VAC staff. If there are any documents missing you will be advised by phone or email which documents are missing. (The application will be forwarded to INZ as it is. The INZ may request that you provide the missing documents, or your application may be rejected.)

    Step 6:

    If the full fee is not remitted we will inform you via phone or email. We will only proceed with your application once we have received the balance of the fee. NOTE: *Any application not meet the lodgement requirement by INZ for VAC operation within 5 working days from its receiving date will be forwarded to INZ for any further solution. *Please make sure a good delivery service company has been picked for your documents delivery, for VAC is not responsible for any loss of your documents before it arrives at VAC.

    PASSPORT HANDLING-ONLINE APPLICATION

    Some applicants are required to provide their passport. If you need to provide your passport, you would have been advised of this on the ‘Thank you’ page when you submitted your Immigration ONLINE visa application.

    If you are not sure if you need to provide your passport, login to your Immigration ONLINE account, open the application PDF and look at the advice on the last page.

    If you were not instructed to provide your passport, you do not need to provide anything else to Immigration New Zealand at this time. Immigration New Zealand will contact you if they need your passport or any other information.

    To avoid delays please ensure you read the following steps carefully:

    • Your passport in original and in photocopies (bio page and all pages with visa labels/entry & exit stamps one each) •

    • Printout of the ONLINE confirmation page or your ONLINE application reference number if available

    • Your contact information: phone, e-mail and return courier address (if applicable)

    • The Visa Application Centre (VAC) passport handling fee (plus any applicable courier fees) either in person, through a representative or by post.

    • You can submit documents listed in Step 1: In person/ through an authorized representative at the NZVAC.

    IMMIGRATION ONLINE APPLICATION

    IMMIGRATION ONLINE APPLICATION – NEXT STEPS

    I’ve submitted my Immigration ONLINE visa application – do I need to provide anything else?

    Some applicants are required to provide their passport. If you need to provide your passport, you would have been advised of this on the ‘Thank you’ page when you submitted your Immigration ONLINE visa application. If you are not sure if you need to provide your passport, login to your Immigration ONLINE account, open the application PDF and look at the advice on the last page.

    An electronic visa (eVisa) will be uploaded to your online account page.

    If you were not instructed to provide your passport, you do not need to provide anything else to Immigration New Zealand at this time. Immigration New Zealand will contact you if they need your passport or any other information.

    If you were instructed to provide your passport, you need to provide:

    • Your passport in original and in photocopies (bio page and all pages with visa labels/entry & exit stamps one each)

    • The Visa Application Centre (VAC) passport handling fee (plus any applicable courier fees)

    • The printout of the ONLINE confirmation page OR your ONLINE application reference number, if available.

    • Your contact information: Phone, e-mail and return courier address (if applicable) so the VAC can contact you if required.

    Ensure you provide these documents promptly. Immigration New Zealand cannot finalise your Immigration ONLINE application until they receive above mentioned documents from you.

    • How much is the VAC passport handling fee and how do I pay?

    VAC fees:

    Passport handling fee (submission via Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou or Chengdu VACs) – CNY190 Passport handling fee-(submission via Hong Kong VAC)HKD210

    Courier fees:

    If you wish to have your passport returned by courier you will also need to pay a courier fee. Alternatively you can collect your passport in person from the VAC.

    Courier Fee- China: CNY65 per applicant (within China only)

    Courier Fee- Hong Kong: HKD60 per applicant (within Hong Kong only)

    You can pay by cash if submitting your passport in person, or by bank transfer if submitting your passport by mail/courier.

  • Visit a Visa Application Centre

    Submit the application

    You’ll have to submit your complete visa application at the Visa Application Centre in person or by representative.

  • Track your application

    Stay informed about the progress of your application

    Visa labels will no longer be issued by Immigration New Zealand (INZ). All applicants of approved visas will receive an email with a letter of approval, which is an eVisa. Please click here to check how long it takes to process your application.

    This Track your Application facility can only be used if you have already submitted an application for a Visa at the New Zealand Visa Application Centre and have received an acknowledgement with a tracking number.

    This service may only provide information on the current location of processing of your application and not on the exact stage of the application process.

    You can track your application by entering the Reference number on the Receipt and your date of birth please click here.

     

    Tracking for Applications lodged Online: If you have submitted your application through immigration online, to track your application you are required to click here. This website can only guide you on the physical passport movement once you are advised by Immigration New Zealand to submit your passport at the Visa Application centre.

     8:00 – 15:00 (Working Days: Monday to Friday, except public holidays)

     

    Please Note:

    Applicants who are collecting the Passport / Documents at counter will need to provide the following document at the time of collection:

    1. Application submission receipt
    2. Photo copy of the passport data page (which was handed over at the time of application submission with VAC stamp)

    Representatives / Agents / Consultants collecting the Passport / Documents at counter will have to provide the following documents along with the above mentioned documents at the time of collection:

           1. An authorization letter from the applicant clearly stating the name & ID of person & agency     authorizing them to collect Passport / Documents on their behalf.

           2. Representative’s photocopy of ID Card.

    After a visa application decision has been made, you can pick up your documents from the Visa Application Centre or have your documents returned to you by courier for an additional fee.

    Collecting your documents in person: bring the receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre and a form of Government identification. If permitted you may be able to send a representative to collect your documents; they will need to present a letter of authorisation signed by you, bring the receipt issued to you by the Visa Application Centre and their Government identification.
