SCHENGEN VISA, CATEGORY C
Schengen Rule
The visa application has to be presented to the Embassy/Consulate of the country of main destination (determined by the purpose of the journey and the length of stay).
If your main destination cannot be ascertained, the Schengen state through which you first enter the territory of these countries is responsible for granting the visa.

Schengen Visa and Visa Code
In order to apply for a Schengen visa, the applicant needs to provide the documents as per the purpose of the trip. In individual cases, additional documents may be requested. Presentation of the documents does not automatically lead to the issuance of a visa and possession of a visa does not confer an automatic right of entry. There is no automatic entitlement or legal right to a Schengen visa. The ultimate decision regarding admission to the Schengen territory lies with the border authorities upon arrival.
The Visa Code standardizes the visa requirements which must be examined by the mission in the course of the visa procedure. The respective mission makes a decision on the visa application at its own discretion, taking into account all the circumstances in any given individual case.
All visa applicants for Germany are advised to schedule an appointment and visit the Joint Visa Application Centre in Manama to submit their applications, together with all necessary documents
Processing time for a visa may take up to 15 days. Applicants are therefore requested to organize themselves accordingly taking into consideration possible waiting periods due to the online appointment system.
The purpose of the proposed visit may not be altered once the visa has been issued. This is also applicable after entering the Schengen territory.

Airport Transit
-
Overview
For Persons applying for Airport Transit Visa
Entry clearance requirements depend on the citizenship and resident status of the applicant (sometimes in a third country). Only a flight through one Schengen Union Country at a time is considered as a transit. The vast majority of travelers do not need a visa when air transiting through Germany. In Germany, the following airports have an International Transit Area: Cologne/Bonn (transit only possible between 4:30 and 23:00), Düsseldorf (transit only possible between 6:00 and 21:00 and only if the airline has arranged the transit with airport security – please check with your airline), Frankfurt/Main, Hamburg (limited time frame only 4:30 to 23:30), Munich (München).
Please check with your travel agent / airline, if your flight is going via another airport. If you leave the airport’s international transit area, i.e. change the terminal, you will have to apply for a Schengen Visa – Category C.
Please Note:
- Effective 28 March 2017, citizens of Georgia can travel to Schengen countries without a prior visa for a period of up to 90 days. Please note that this exemption is only for holders of a Georgian biometric passport.
- Effective 15 March 2016, Peruvian nationals do not require a Schengen visa to travel to Germany for a period of 90 days or less within a timeframe of 180 days.
