If you want to visit the Republic of Greece You may submit your visa application at the Visa application centre VFS Global.
Depending on the duration and purpose of your visit in Greece, you may apply for a short-term “Schengen visa” or a long-term “national visa” for a stay of longer than 90 days.

Short Stay Visa

Overview
Visa is an authorization issued by one of the member states of the Schengen area with a view to transit through or an intended stay in the territory of the member states for a duration of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
A uniform Schengen visa allows the holder a stay of up to 90 days within any 180-day period, and it is valid within the territory of the following countries:
Greece, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Photo Specifications

A Photograph submitted with the application for a visa should comply with the following specifications:
- Must be an up-to-date photograph (dated max 6 month old)
- Must be a color photograph printed on normal photographic paper
- Should be sized between 35 – 45 mm
- Full face taken straight forward 30 - 36 mm from point of the chin to top of hair
- Taken against a light background
- Without sunglasses
- Without hat or other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons
- Spectacles should not have toned or reflecting glasses
- The frame of the spectacles may not cover the eyes
- The mouth must be shut

In case photos are not meeting the requirements mentioned above the submission officer might ask you to provide new photos and you may choose an additional service to capture the photos on the day of the appointment at the visa application center.

The earliest you can apply is 6 months before you intend to travel. You should apply no later than 15 working days before your trip.
The Embassy checks the application and usually reaches a decision within 15 calendar days after having submitted the application.

Business visa application is applicable in case you are travelling for business purposes. This visa is given for travel period of less than 90 days.
When a visa is valid for more than six months, the duration of stays is 90 days in a 180-day period. If you get a multiple-entry visa you may leave and return any number of times within the 180-day period, but the combined stay within the region must not total more than 90 days.

This visa is solely for the purpose of leisure travel including vacationing, cruising, sightseeing and other recreational activities. If during any portion of their visit in Greece the applicant intends to engage in business, or official duties he/she must refer to other relevant visa categories.

Photo Specifications

A Photograph submitted with the application for a visa should comply with the following specifications:
- Must be an up-to-date photograph (dated max 6 month old)
- Must be a color photograph printed on normal photographic paper
- Should be sized between 35 – 45 mm
- Full face taken straight forward 30 - 36 mm from point of the chin to top of hair
- Taken against a light background
- Without sunglasses
- Without hat or other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons
- Spectacles should not have toned or reflecting glasses
- The frame of the spectacles may not cover the eyes
- The mouth must be shut

In case photos are not meeting the requirements mentioned above the submission officer might ask you to provide new photos and you may choose an additional service to capture the photos on the day of the appointment at the visa application center.

The earliest you can apply is 6 months before you intend to travel. You should apply no later than 15 working days before your trip.
The Embassy checks the application and usually reaches a decision within 15 calendar days after having submitted the application.

Visa Fees
Applicants applying at the Greece Visa Application Centre shall be levied a non-refundable service charge in addition to the Visa Fee.

For some categories of nationals of these third countries the visa fee is waived. Please check the provisions of the relevant VFA.

Please note exemption of visa fee applies for:
- Children 0-6 years.
- Family members of EU/EEA and Swiss citizens.
- School pupils, students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake stays for the purpose of study or educational training.
- Researchers from third countries travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research.
- Representatives of non-profit organisations aged 25 years or less participating in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events organized by non-profit organisations.

Long Stay Visa
A long - term visa (National visa - D Type Visa) is an authorization issued by the competent Greek authorities for the entry and stay of third - country nationals in Greek territory for a period exceeding 90 and up to 365 days, according to the respective national legislation or European Union law on the residence status of third - country nationals.
