Airport Transit

Overview
An airport transit visa is required for nationals of certain states to go through the international transit area of airports, without actually entering the national territory of the country concerned, during a stop-over or transfer between two stages of an international flight.
In other words an Airport Transit Visa is required when you are required to connect through an airport in one of the Schengen countries without actually leaving the transit are of the airport. [I.e. you arrive from a non-Schengen country and depart to a non-Schengen country]
IMPORTANT
Applications can be lodged by maximum 90 days before the planned trip.
Visas are not issued on the day of the application and may take up to 4 weeks, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed or in cases of representation where the authorities of the represented Member State are consulted. Exceptionally, when additional documentation is needed in specific cases, the period for the decision may be extended up to a maximum of 60 calendar days.
Holders of Schengen visas are still subject to immigration control at the point of entry and are not guaranteed entry into any of the Schengen countries.

VFS service charge
Applicants applying at the Austrian Visa Application Centre shall be levied a service charge of 2,011 EGP inclusive of VAT per application will be levied for applicants applying at the visa application centre.(the VFS service charge is changeable based on the euro rate and can be changed without any notifications, and the difference amount can be paid or refunded on the same day of submission).
The fees can be paid by cash or with credit/debit card in Egyptian Pound.

- The Visa fee & service charges is non-refundable in case the visa is refused.

- Two recent 3.5x4.5 cm photographs in color with white background,not more than 6 months old,Full face with 70% focus on face,without (smiling, sunglasses, a hat/cap or any other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background) with no facial expression.
- Passport :
- current passport must contain at least two blank pages
- The passport should be valid for at least 3 months after return from the planned trip.
- Previous passports, covering the last 7 years. In case of first time travellers: certificate of movements issued by "Mugamma" issued by the competent Egyptian Authority, for more details about the mogamma certificate regulations click here
- photocopy of data page and previous Schengen visa
- Certificate of the employment: specifying the date of recruitment, position in the company, salary level, the purpose of travel and confirmation of leave approved.
- Documents to be provided by company owner: original and copy of the commercial registry and tax card translated.
- Documents to be provided by pupils /students: proof of enrollment in school/university.
- Original personal bank statements, for the past 6 months in the absence of bank account, proof of the other assets has to be provided.
- In case the applicant provides a non-personal bank statement he/she would need to provide a declaration/authority of the owner of this bank statement additional to that copy the owner bio page of his/her passport plus the 2nd page of the passport indicating the passport’s holder signature
- Flight Reservation, indicating the complete itinerary of the tour
- Hotel booking confirmation or proof of accommodation.(primary reservation, all reservations need to be done directly with the hotel or hotel reservation provided by a traveling agency and no online reservations would be accepted, e.g: from Booking.com)..
- Travel medical insurance covering the entire period of the intended stay, valid for all Schengen states and covering any expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention .emergency hospital treatment or death during the stay .the minimum coverage must be 30.000 EUR., to find the list of the Schengen accredited insurance companies, please click here
- Documents to be provided by minors:
- Birth certificate translated.(copy + original )
- If the minor travel without his/her legal guardian: consent of both parents or legal guardian, the application needs to be signed by both parents in front of VFS Global agent, in case of one parent/guardian is residing in another country, he/she has to submit a written letter of consent to the travel.

Processing Time
Usually, processing time for visa applications is 10 working days (starting from the time when the Embassy or Consulate received the application, not including the transportation time), counting from when all requested documents have been submitted. This period may be extended in specific cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is required, for example, when an applicant must come to an interview or submit additional documentation requested by the Embassy or Consulate. During certain times of the year, the processing time can be longer due to the high volume of applications. It is recommended to submit your visa application at least two weeks prior to date of travel date and if possible, even earlier ahead of the holiday period.
Please note that the application processing time and decisions on visa applications are the sole prerogative of the Embassy or Consulate. VFS Global has no role to play in these areas of the application process.

Medical Treatment

Overview
If you plan to travel to Austria to receive medical treatment, you must apply for Schengen visa (stay up to 90 days) or a national visa (stay up to 6 months).

- Medical certificate issued by licensed physician (diagnosis, recommendation for further treatment)
- Treatment plan by receiving physician/hospital in Austria

Cultural/Sport Events

Overview
Persons travelling for cultural or sports events in Austria and persons accompanying them in a professional capacity can apply for Schengen visa. Applicant will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.

Overview
If you are planning a short visit to Austria for up to 90 days or less and you do not have the nationality of one of the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA), you may need to apply for a Schengen visa. Austria is one of the 27 European countries forming the Schengen Area which have no border controls between them. These countries also issue a common visa, the Schengen visa for a stay of up to 90 days in any period of 180 days.
Eligibility
Applicant must at least meet the following criteria to be eligible to submit a Schengen visa application: -
- holding a valid passport/travel document
- holding a valid Egyptian residence permit in case of foreigners.
Before applying.
Please ensure you understand your particular ‘purpose of visit’. Applications cannot be submitted earlier than six (6) months before the start of the planned journey.
If you intend to visit several countries, you need to apply at the Embassy of the country of the long duration of stay.
In case of equal stay, one must submit their application to the mission of the Schengen country representing their first port of entry.
The collection of passports at the Visa Application Center can be done by :
- The applicant himself/herself.
- A representative carrying a photo id of himself/herself, Authority letter of VFS signed from the applicant on the submission day in addition to original of the receipt.
- Courier “as optional services requested on the submission day.”

Please note: It is required to book a tourist appointment for accompanying individuals, as it is not permitted to apply for a visa as an accompanying person under a business appointment

Overview

- Two recent 3.5x4.5 cm photographs in color with white background,not more than 6 months old,Full face with 70% focus on face,without (smiling, sunglasses, a hat/cap or any other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background) with no facial expression.
- Passport :
- current passport must contain at least two blank pages
- The passport should be valid for at least 3 months after return from the planned trip.
- Previous passports, covering the last 7 years. In case of first time travellers: certificate of movements issued by “Mugamma” issued by the competent Egyptian Authority, for more details about the mogamma certificate regulations click here
- photocopy of data page and previous Schengen visa
- Passports will have to have the holders’ signature.
- Certificate of the employment: specifying the date of recruitment, position in the company, salary level, the purpose of travel and confirmation of leave approved.
- Documents to be provided by company owner: original and copy of the commercial registry and tax card translated.
- Documents to be provided by pupils /students: proof of enrollment in school/university.
- Original personal bank statements, for the past 6 months / in the absence of bank account, proof of the other assets has to be provided, OR: electronic affidavit of guarantee of inviter (person or company based in Austria).
- In case the applicant provides a non-personal bank statement he/she would need to provide a declaration/authority of the owner of this bank statement additional to that copy the owner bio page of his/her passport plus the 2nd page of the passport indicating the passport’s holder signature
- Flight Reservation, indicating the complete itinerary of the tour
- Hotel booking confirmation or proof of accommodation.primary reservation,
- Travel medical insurance covering the entire period of the intended stay, valid for all Schengen states and covering any expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention .emergency hospital treatment or death during the stay .the minimum coverage must be 30.000 EUR., to find the list of the Schengen accredited insurance companies, please click here
- Documents to be provided by minors:
- Birth certificate translated.(copy + original )
- If the minor travel without his/her legal guardian: consent of both parents or legal guardian, the application needs to be signed by both parents in front of VFS Global agent, in case of one parent/guardian is residing in another country, he/she has to submit a written letter of consent to the travel.
- If the minor is travelling with one parent or one of his/her legal guardian :
a consent of the other parent, who isn’t traveling or a legal guardian
needs to be submitted, in case if one parent/guardian is residing in another
country, he/she has to submit a written letter of consent to the travel.

Processing Time
As a rule, a decision is taken by the Consulate within 15 days.
This period may, in individual cases, be extended up to 45 days, if a more detailed examination of your application and/or additional documents are required.
During certain times of the year, the processing time can be longer due to the high volume of applications. It is recommended to submit your visa application at least two weeks prior to date of travel date and if possible, even earlier ahead of the holiday period.
Please note that the application processing time and decisions on visa applications are the sole prerogative of the Embassy or Consulate. VFS Global has no role to play in these areas of the application process.

Tourist Visa

Overview
If you are planning a short visit to Austria for up to 90 days or less and you do not have the nationality of one of the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA), you may need to apply for a Schengen visa. Austria is one of the 27 European countries forming the Schengen Area which have no border controls between them. These countries also issue a common visa, the Schengen visa for a stay of up to 90 days in any period of 180 days.
Eligibility
Applicant must at least meet the following criteria to be eligible to submit a Schengen visa application: -
- holding a valid passport/travel document
- holding a valid Egyptian residence permit in case of foreigners.
Before applying.
Please ensure you understand your particular ‘purpose of visit’. Applications cannot be submitted earlier than six (6) months before the start of the planned journey.
If you intend to visit several countries, you need to apply at the Embassy of the country of the long duration of stay.
In case of equal stay, one must submit their application to the mission of the Schengen country representing their first port of entry.
The collection of passports at the Visa Application Center can be done by :
- The applicant himself/herself.
- A representative carrying a photo id of himself/herself, Authority letter of VFS signed from the applicant on the submission day in addition to original of the receipt.
- Courier “as optional services requested on the submission day.”
IMPORTANT
Applications can be lodged earliest three (3) months before the planned trip.
Visas are not issued on the day of the application and may take up to 4 weeks, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed or in cases of representation where the authorities of the represented Member State are consulted. Exceptionally, when additional documentation is needed in specific cases, the period for the decision may be extended up to a maximum of 60 calendar days.
Holders of Schengen visas are still subject to immigration control at the point of entry and are not guaranteed entry into any of the Schengen countries.

- Evidence of the applicant's economic, family and social roots in the home country (e.g.: employment certificate, student record, certificate of company ownership, pension payments, evidence of family ties, property ownership in the country of origin).
If the document provided is in Arabic it should be translated into English or German, there is no need to translate the document if it’s originally issued in English.
Please be advised, for importance, that children must be present at the center at the time of submitting the visa application regardless of their age. If any child is not present during submission, the appointment will be considered void, and the parents will be required to book a new appointment for the child.

VFS service charge
Applicants applying at the Austrian Visa Application Centre shall be levied a service charge of 2,011 EGP inclusive of VAT per application will be levied for applicants applying at the visa application centre.(the VFS service charge is changeable based on the euro rate and can be changed without any notifications, and the difference amount can be paid or refunded on the same day of submission).
The fees can be paid by cash or with credit/debit card in Egyptian Pound.
