Long Stay
Obligatory personal interview when applying for a type “D” visa
No exception shall be made from the requirement for a personal interview when applying for a long-stay visa.
Documents to be submitted with the visa application:
- A photocopy of the first page of the foreign travel document;
- A photocopy of the last Bulgarian and Schengen visas or visas for the UK and the US, if any
- A full color photograph 3,5 cm х 4,5 cm against light-colored background (the same holds for a child entered in the passport) – a full-face photo with clear, large enough face which takes up 70-80% of the photo; eyes must be red; the following is ineligible: photos with dark glasses; non-professional photos or cut out of amateur photos
- A medical insurance valid for the EU member states for the whole period of the trip, covering all costs for repatriation and for urgent medical care and emergency hospital treatment for the period of the stay indicated in the visa. The insurance amount cannot be less than 30 thousand euro
- Copy of the technical passport of the car of the trip
- Tickets (original and copy) or ticket booking conformation or financial means
- For under-aged children travelling without their parents or trustees the following documents shall be submitted:
- a copy of the birth certificate
- original and photocopy of a power of attorney notary certified by both parents/ trustees or by one parent trustee that they agree their child to travel unaccompanied by them.
Tourism

Overview
Documents to be submitted on applying for a short-stay visa: On applying for a short-stay visa the applicant shall present the following documents:
- A regular foreign travel document;
- a photocopy of the pages of the foreign travel document with the personal information and the visas laid and/or a photocopy of the permits for stay possessed;
- A recent colorful photograph – passport size;
- Documents substantiating the visa request as well as copies thereof;
- proof of the possession of the required financial resources for subsistence amounting to a minimum of EUR 50 per day of the stay requested with the visa application or their equivalent in another convertible currency but at least EUR 500 or their equivalent in another convertible currency, or a document of prepaid tourist services;
- documents certifying the possession of the required financial resources for accommodation but at least EUR 50 per day of the stay requested with the visa application or their equivalent in another convertible currency, or a document for prepaid accommodation in a tourist accommodation facility, or an invitation-declaration by a Bulgarian natural or legal person with which it undertakes to cover all occurring costs for the period of stay of the foreigner on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria;
- documents certifying the possession of the required financial resources to leave the country or a ticket, and if the person has entered the country by self driven motor vehicle – resources amounting to at least EUR 100 or their equivalent in another convertible currency;
- an insurance policy and a copy thereof issued by an insurance company licensed to operate on the territory of the European Union with a minimum amount of the cover EUR 30 000. The policy should cover all expenses for repatriation as well as for emergency medical aid and hospital treatment for the period of the stay. Applicants for multiple visa for a short-stay shall present an insurance policy only for the period of the first intended;
Unorganized /individual/ tourism:
Reservation from a Bulgarian tourist accommodation facility /hotel/; reservation or a return airplane ticket /on submitting the application a reservation may be produced and on issuing the visa – the ticket itself/ or proof of possession of resources for departure.
Organized /individual/ tourism:
A tourist voucher of the sending travel agent; a general list of the tourists from a single group. Documents of organized tourists may be submitted only by accredited travel agents. -
Visa Fees
The fee for processing Schengen visa application shall amount to 90 euros
Citizens of the country: Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Ukraine and Belarus pay 35 euros
For children from 6 to 12 years old the pay is 45 euros
Payment is accepted in UZS at the exchange rate of the National Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Categories which are exempted from payment of a visa fee:
- children under six years;
- school pupils, students, postgraduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake stays for the purpose of study or educational training;
- researchers, as defined in point (2) of Article 3 of Directive (EU) 2016/801 of the European Parliament and of the Council (8), travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research or participating in a scientific seminar or conference.
- representatives of non-profit organizations aged 25 years or less participating in seminars; conferences, sports, cultural or educational events organized by non-profit organizations.
- cases provided for in Article 16, Part 5 of the Visa Code, when applications are submitted by foreigners whose countries of citizenship do not apply the visa regime to citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria or whose countries of citizenship apply no less favorable conditions to citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria than those provided for in Article 16, Part 5 of the Visa Code.
- The ratio between local currencies and the euro exchange rate is reviewed and adjusted accordingly at least once a month.

The visa applicants have to present a valid travel medical insurance covering the entire period of planned stay with a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000. The insurance must be able to cover all expenses that may be incurred in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, emergency medical care and / or hospital treatment in case of emergency or death on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. Overview
The invitation-declaration by a natural person for issuing a visa for a private stay for a foreigner’s short-stay in the Republic of Bulgaria shall be drawn up on a sample form, shall be legalised by a notary public and by the authorities for administrative control of foreigners (Migration Directorate of the MoI) after presenting the following documents:
- a statement of the property status of the person issuing the invitation;
- a certificate of income issued by the workplace of the person issuing the invitation or a copy of the tax statement under article 50 of the Natural Persons Income Taxation Act for the preceding year with an incoming registration of the respective territorial directorate of the National Revenue Agency.
On applying for a short-stay visa the applicant shall present the following documents:- A regular foreign travel document;
- a photocopy of the pages of the foreign travel document with the personal information and the visas laid and/or a photocopy of the permits for stay possessed;
- A recent colorful photograph – passport size;

There is a format for Invitation Letter which needs to be followed for anyone applying for Private Visit through VFS Global for Bulgaria
1. Application form: fully completed in English or Bulgarian language and signed in two places by the applicant in person (or by parent(s)/guardian(s) for minors under the age of 18) (field no 37 and last field). 2. Passport: must be valid at least three months after the intended date of departure from the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria or in case of multiple visits - after the last scheduled date of departure from the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, containing at least two empty pages (back to back), issued within the previous 10 years. NO alteration or handwritten amendment concerning the data page 3. One photograph: recent, a full color photograph 3,5 cm х 4,5 cm against light-colored background – a full-face photo with clear, large enough face which takes up 70-80% of the photo; eyes must be red; the following is ineligible: photos with dark glasses; photos with hat or other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons; non-professional photos or cut out of amateur photos 4. Proof of residence (if applicable): applicants staying temporarily in another state should submit a photocopy of the stay permit (e g. valid Uzbekistann Residency Permit , return visa etc.) 5. Travel medical insurance shall be valid for Bulgaria and cover the entire period of the person’s intended stay. The minimum coverage shall be EUR 30 000. Applicants for multiple entries shall prove that they are in possession of adequate and valid travel medical insurance covering the period of their first intended visit. In addition a statement, declaring the awareness of the need to be in possession of travel medical insurance for subsequent stays, shall be signed (on prescribed form). 6. Cover letter: explaining the purpose of the trip, duration of stay and subsequent visits, if any. 7. Means of transportation: return travel ticket or confirmed booking (for air/surface/sea transport). 8. Proof of accommodation: hotel booking or accommodation can be provided by the inviting person in the Invitation - Declaration. 9. Proof of the purpose of stay in Bulgaria
An Invitation - Declaration for a private stay of a foreigner to the Republic of Bulgaria
The Invitation - Declaration by a natural person for issuing a short-stay visa for the purpose of private stay shall be prepared in a form-sample (in accordance with Enclosure No 3 to the Regulation on procedures and conditions for issuing visas and defining the visa regime), signed by the inviting person, certified by a Notary Public and by the bodies for administrative control of foreigners - Migration Directorate of the Ministry of Interior of Bulgaria: https://mvr.bg/migration/en/administrative-services/administrative-servces/other-administrative-servces10. Proof of current social and professional status in native country
- Service – Letter issued by the employer on company’s official letterhead establishing position of the employee in the company, years in service, grant of leave and alary certificate of the last three (3) months
- Business/self-employed – Visa request letter on official letter head with company registration papers
- Student – Letter from school / university for grant of leave and copy of the valid ID11. Proof of sufficient funds:
- Three months bank statement (saving and current a/c, as applicable), and
- Three years Income Tax returns (personal and company, if applicable)12. ITR: Income Tax Acknowledgement / ITR-V from the last three (3) years 13. - The visa applicant on a first trip to Bulgaria / Schengen area must submit his/her application in person. For the next trips to Bulgaria the applications can be submitted by a representative.
- Any representative shall provide an original letter of authorization from the applicant bearing the name of the representative and its organization / company. A copy of a valid photo ID shall be attached to the application.
- The applicant bears responsibility concerning all content of the application.
- Applications cannot be submitted more than 3 months prior to departure.
- Processing can take up to 15 calendar days after receiving the application. Status queries will be responded after the above time frame only and shall be primarily addressed to the VFS-office of application or by e-mail to bgconsuldelhi@yahoo.com
- In case an application is lodged less than 15 calendar days before departure, a timely completion of the visa process cannot be guaranteed.
- However, in individual cases, that period may be extended up to 30 or to maximum of 60 calendar days particularly when further scrutiny of the application is needed.
- The applicant and/or its authorized representative declare being advised to submit full documentation according to the above checklist and that submission of incomplete or faulty documentation can be a reason for refusal of the application.
- Applicants are advised that during the examination of an application, Embassy may request additional documents. The Embassy may call applicants for an interview if deemed necessary.
- A short-stay visa for the purpose of a planned stay is issued to a foreigner who enters the country once, twice or repeatedly for a total period of residence up to 90 days within every 6 months from the date of first entry.

It is possible to visit Bulgaria with a period of stay up to 90 days in 6 months period without Bulgarian national visa for holders of:
- uniform visa (C) for two or multiple entries, valid for all Schengen Area Member States;
- long-stay visa (D) for stays exceeding three months, issued by one of the Schengen Area Member States;
- residence permit issued by one of the Schengen Area Member States;
- national visas for two or multiple entries or residence permits of Romania, Cyprus and Croatia.
- Citizens of Moldova, Georgia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ukraine who have biometric foreign passports can enter and stay in Bulgaria without a visa for 90 days within 180 day period. Citizens of the above mentioned countries who do not have biometric passports should apply for a Bulgarian visa as per the standard procedure.

Photo Specifications
A photograph submitted with the application for a visa should comply with the following specifications:

- Must be an up-to-date photograph (preferably maximum 6 months old)
- Must be a color photograph printed on normal photographic paper
- Should be passport sized 3,5 x 4,5 cm
- Close up to your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph
- Full face taken straight forward 30 - 36 mm from point of the chin to head of hair
- Taken against a light background
- Without sunglasses
- Without hat or other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons
- Spectacles should not have toned or reflecting glasses
- The frame of the spectacles may not cover the eyes
- The mouth must be closed

- An invitation-declaration by a natural or legal person engaging in activities under the Commerce Act for issuing a short-stay visa for the purpose of business shall be drawn up on a sample form, shall be signed and stamped by the person issuing the invitation, shall be legalised by a notary judge and by the authorities for administrative control of foreigners (Migration Directorate of the MoI) after presenting the following documents:
- a certificate of the current state of the legal/natural person issued by the Registry Agency pursuant to the Trade Register Act (with a validity term of three months);
- a copy of the tax statement of the person issuing the invitation for the preceding year with an incoming registration of the respective territorial directorate of the National Revenue Agency. An invitation-declaration by a representation office of a foreign legal person registered under article 24 of the Investment Promotion Act for issuing a short-stay visa for the purpose of business shall be drawn up on a sample form. It should be signed and stamped by the person issuing the invitation, legalised by a notary judge and by the authorities for administrative control of foreigners (Migration Directorate of the MoI) after presenting the following documents:
- a certificate of current state of the representation office issued by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (with a validity term of three months);
- a copy of a certificate of registration at the respective territorial directorate of the National Revenue Agency. A sample form of an invitation declaration may be obtained from the respective office of the Migration Directorate of the MoI and its regional units;

Documents to be submitted on applying for a short-stay visa: On applying for a short-stay visa the applicant shall present the following documents:- A regular foreign travel document;
- a photocopy of the pages of the foreign travel document with the personal information and the visas laid and/or a photocopy of the permits for stay possessed;
- A recent colorful photograph – passport size;
- Documents substantiating the visa request as well as copies thereof;
- proof of the possession of the required financial resources for subsistence amounting to a minimum of EUR 50 per day of the stay requested with the visa application or their equivalent in another convertible currency but at least EUR 500 or their equivalent in another convertible currency, or a document of prepaid tourist services;
- documents certifying the possession of the required financial resources for accommodation but at least EUR 50 per day of the stay requested with the visa application or their equivalent in another convertible currency, or a document for prepaid accommodation in a tourist accommodation facility, or an invitation-declaration by a Bulgarian natural or legal person with which it undertakes to cover all occurring costs for the period of stay of the foreigner on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria;

Visa Fees
The fee for processing Schengen visa application shall amount to 90 euros
Citizens of the country: Azerbaijan, Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Ukraine and Belarus pay 35 euros
For children from 6 to 12 years old the pay is 45 euros
Payment is accepted in UZS at the exchange rate of the National Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Categories which are exempted from payment of a visa fee:
- children under six years;
- school pupils, students, postgraduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake stays for the purpose of study or educational training;
- researchers, as defined in point (2) of Article 3 of Directive (EU) 2016/801 of the European Parliament and of the Council (8), travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research or participating in a scientific seminar or conference.
- representatives of non-profit organizations aged 25 years or less participating in seminars; conferences, sports, cultural or educational events organized by non-profit organizations.
- cases provided for in Article 16, Part 5 of the Visa Code, when applications are submitted by foreigners whose countries of citizenship do not apply the visa regime to citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria or whose countries of citizenship apply no less favorable conditions to citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria than those provided for in Article 16, Part 5 of the Visa Code.
- The ratio between local currencies and the euro exchange rate is reviewed and adjusted accordingly at least once a month.

Passport: must be valid at least three months after the intended date of departure from the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria or in case of multiple visits - after the last scheduled date of departure from the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, containing at least two empty pages (back to back), issued within the previous 10 years. NO alteration or handwritten amendment concerning the data page 3. One photograph: recent, a full color photograph 3,5 cm х 4,5 cm against light-colored background – a full-face photo with clear, large enough face which takes up 70-80% of the photo; eyes must be red; the following is ineligible: photos with dark glasses; photos with hat or other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons; non-professional photos or cut out of amateur photos 4. Proof of accommodation: hotel booking, private or other accommodation (guaranteed and confirmed on applicant’s name), real estate title deed or lease, proof of ownership or lease of a boat etc. 9. Proof of current social and professional status in native country
- Service – Letter issued by the employer on company’s official letterhead establishing position of the employee in the company, years in service, grant of leave and salary certificate for the last three (3) months
- Business/self-employed – Visa request letter on official letter head with company registration/ownership papers - Student – Letter from school / university for grant of leave and copy of the valid ID
10. Proof of sufficient funds:
- Possession of the required financial resources for subsistence amounting to a minimum of EUR 50 per day of the stay requested with the visa application or their equivalent in another convertible currency but at least EUR 500 or their equivalent in another convertible currency, or a document of prepaid tourist services
- Three months bank statement (saving and current a/c, if applicable), and

- The visa applicant on a first trip to Bulgaria / Schengen area must submit his/her application in person. For the next trips to Bulgaria the applications can be submitted by a representative.
- Any representative shall provide an original letter of authorization from the applicant bearing the name of the representative and its organization / company. A copy of a valid photo ID shall be attached to the application.
- The applicant bears responsibility concerning all content of the application.
- Applications cannot be submitted more than 3 months prior to departure.
- Processing can take up to 15 calendar days after receiving the application. Status queries will be responded after the above time frame only and shall be primarily addressed to the VFS-office of application or by e-mail to bgconsuldelhi@yahoo.com
- In case an application is lodged less than 15 calendar days before departure, a timely completion of the visa process cannot be guaranteed.
- However, in individual cases, that period may be extended up to 30 or to maximum of 60 calendar days particularly when further scrutiny of the application is needed.
