Short Term Visa
You can apply for a short-term visa for stays in the Schengen Area of no more than three months (90 days) in a period of six months (180 days) from the date of entry into the Schengen Area.

Tourist visa is granted for those where the intention is to visit Czech Republic for tourism and sightseeing without having an invitation from an Czech Republic referent.

The processing time of visa applications are in discretions of Embassy of Czech Republic in Ankara and Consulate General of Czech Republic in Istanbul.
If all required documentation is in order, Short Terms Visa Applications are usually processed within 15 calendar days, excluding day of submission at Visa Application Centre, and number of days (1-2) required for transportation of documents to Ankara (from Izmir and Antalya).
To the attention of the applicants who submitt in Istanbul,
It is not recommended to apply before 15 days from travel date since your visa process probably would not be concluded!
Please note, in some cases the procedure may take considerably longer than mentioned period. We advice you to apply for visa well in advance.
That period may be extended up to a maximum of 45 calendar days in individual cases.
Processing time for nationalities mentioned below is considerably longer, approximately 14 working days due to additional internal procedures requirement: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Congo (Democratic Republic), Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka and Syria.
Please note that applicants may be required to appear before a Visa Officer for a personal interview at the Embassy of the Czech Republic, Ankara or Consulate General, Istanbul prior to a decision being taken on the application.
The Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Consulate General in Istanbul of the Czech Republic also reserves the right to ask for additional supporting documents during the visa application process in progress. Visit to Family or Freinds visa is only intended to allow a foreign national to visit Czech Republic for a limited period of time. This category of visa caters for people wishing visit the member of his/her family or friend.

FAMILY MEMBERS OF EU CITIZENS

Overview
VISA PROCEDURE FOR FAMILY MEMBERS OF EU CITIZENS
1.1. No visa fee.
1.2. The following facilitations are granted:
- visa applications from family members of EU citizens as defined by Article 3(2) of Annex to the Directive 2004/38 and persons with whom the EU citizen has contracted a registered partnership are examined as soon as possible;
- the persons referred to above are not required to present proof of personal means of subsistence (e.g. cash, travellers cheques, credit cards);
– the persons referred to above are not required to present an invitation or proof of sponsorship and/or accommodation.
1.3. Type of visa issued: Third country family members may only be required to have an entry visa in accordance with Regulation 539/2001.
1.4. Supporting documents: In order to benefit from the facilitations provided for by the Directive 2004/38, the visa applicant must prove that he/she is a family member of an EU citizen (eg. a marriage certificate, birth certificate, proof of dependency,...)
1.5. Burden of proof: The burden of proof applicable in the framework of the visa application under the Directive 2004/38 is twofold:
Firstly, it is up to the visa applicant to prove that he/she is a beneficiary of the Directive. The applicant must be able to provide documentary evidence foreseen above as he/she must be able to provide evidence to support his/her claim.
If the applicant fails to provide such evidence, the consulate can conclude that the applicant is not entitled to the specific treatment under the Directive.
1.6. Original Marriage certificate (from the relevant EU country)
1.7. A document that the couple will travel together (if the family member will be accompanying the EU citizen) otherwise the applicant will not be considered as EU family member.

Processing time for nationalities mentioned below is considerably longer, approximately 14 working days due to additional internal procedures requirement: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Congo (Democratic Republic), Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iraq, Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka and Syria.
Please note that applicants may be required to appear before a Visa Officer for a personal interview at the Embassy of the Czech Republic, Ankara or Consulate General, Istanbul prior to a decision being taken on the application.
The Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Consulate General in Istanbul of the Czech Republic also reserves the right to ask for additional supporting documents during the visa application process in progress.
