Tourist Visa

Overview
If you are planning a short visit to Denmark for up to 90 days or less and you do not have the nationality of one of the countries of the European Economic Area (EEA), you may need to apply for a Schengen visa.

The Schengen visa allows entry and free movement on the territory of the states covered by the Schengen Agreements. The duration of the short-stay visa not exceeding 90 days over a period of 180 days, except for the shorter duration mentioned on the vignette. Visas for stays exceeding 90 days over a period of 180 days are not Schengen visas and are subject to special conditions (residence permits, family reunification, etc.)

Photo Specifications
Size of photograph for visa applications
After the instalment of a new system for scanning biometrics, including photographs for visa application, it is now possible to lodge a photograph of size 35 x 45 mm. Length of the head should not exceed 30 to 36 mm in length from chin to top of hair.
The photograph must still be in color with bright background.
Danish Visa Application Centre has been instructed by Danish mission to inform applicants that the visa application is not acceptable if the photograph does not comply with the above format.
Applicants may therefore obtain a new photograph that meets all requirements before The Danish Visa Application Centre can receive the application.

- Please note that your passport will be kept during the visa application process.
- However, case processing time depends on each individual case. Applicants are advised to apply several weeks before their intended journey, but not more than 90 days in advance.

Family Visit and Friend Visa

Overview
This visa for those who intends to visit their cousins, aunt, uncle, distant relatives or friends. If during any portion of their visit to Denmark the applicant intends to engage in business, or official duties he/she must refer to other relevant visa categories.

Business Visa

Overview
A Business visa is required if during any portion of the visit applicant intends to conduct business or commercial activities. e.g.; Meetings, Conference, Trainings, Trade Fairs, etc; such visas can only be issued to travelers not being paid for work by an entity within Denmark and its representing countries. If the applicant intends to undertake paid work in Denmark and its representing countries, he/she will need to obtain a work permit.

A Cultural and Sport visa is required for applicants who intend to participate in cultural or sports events for a short stay of up to 90 days or less.

Long Stay Visa
If you wish to come to the Denmark for more than 90 days, you have to apply for a long stay visa and you apply directly to VFS Global.
Residence Permit

Overview
Algerian citizens need a residence permit to work or settle in Denmark if their planned stay more than 90 days (3 months).
The applicable provisions are as follows:
- EU / EEA nationals do not need a residence permit to stay or work in Denmark. On the other hand, all nationals of these countries who stay in Denmark for more than three months must report to the police.
- If you are a national of a non-EU / EEA state and you want to work in Denmark or stay there for more than 90 days, you must have a residence permit.
In general, the the Danish Immigration Service or the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) is the body that handles the processing of residence permit applications.
Before applying for a residence permit
You must first determine what type of residence permit corresponds to your needs, depending on the reason for which you are applying, such as work, study, family reunification or an "au pair" position. You will find information on these different residence permits, their criteria for obtaining them and the application procedures on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

Service fee IN EURO Service Fee 19 Note: From 01 July 2019, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark including all Danish diplomatic missions are introducing mandatory online payment of the embassy fee for residence or work permit. The embassy fee must be paid online using this link https://dys.um.dk/permit/.The receipt for the payment must be submitted at the Danish Visa Application Centre (VFS) when you hand in your passport, relevant documentation and supply biometrics. The embassy fee and the fee to the Danish Visa Application Centre (VFS) must be paid in addition to the fee to The Danish Immigration Service.

Documents Required
You will need to have all the documents listed in the list concerning you, available on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. Some will have to be provided to you by the person residing in Denmark with whom you are in contact. As an applicant for the residence permit, you will have to obtain the other documents from the file yourself.
Register on the Internet and pay the application fee
Before presenting yourself in person, with your passport and the various documents required, you will have to register on the Internet portal of residence permits. If you apply for the visa for the first time, you will first have to register as a user of this portal.
REGISTER ON THE INTERNET PORTAL OF TITLES OF STAY
Once your application is registered on the Internet portal of residence permits, you will receive confirmation electronically. This confirmation letter will be accompanied by a receipt stating that you have completed the application form and paid the corresponding fees. You will need to print this receipt and attach it to the other documents

Applications for residence permits are subject to review by the Danish Immigration Service or the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) . Information on response times is available on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

If you have been granted a residence permit, you must provide a recent photo, a passport (if you had not submitted it with the application) and a ticket reservation. An entry visa sticker will be placed on your passport to allow you to travel to Denmark.
The VFS is responsible for alerting you by phone once a decision has been made on your application.
If your application has been rejected, you will receive a written response indicating the grounds for refusal. You can lodge an appeal within 3 weeks of receiving the decision.
When you arrive
When you enter the Schengen area, you will need to be able to present:
- Your passport, in which the visa sticker has been affixed (if you are required to hold a visa);
- a copy of your residence permit;
- A relevant document proving the nature of your trip.
As soon as you know your arrival date in Denmark, you will have to make an appointment with the Denmark police. This appointment should take place as soon as possible after your entry on the territory.
The police will photograph you and proceed to order the residence card. This is a small plastic card, with your photo and confirming that you have a residence permit in Denmark. This card will allow you to visit other countries in the Schengen area.
