VISA TYPES

Short Term Visa
Short Stay visa entitles an applicant, who does not hold a residence permit, to stay In Denmark for an uninterrupted period or a total of successive periods of stays that does not exceed 90 days in every 180 days since the date of first entry. Denmark is one of the 26 European countries forming the Schengen Area which have no border controls between them.
You have to apply for your Schengen Visa at the Embassy of your main destination. If the main destination cannot be determined, responsibility for issuance of the visa lies with the Schengen State of first entry.
The Embassy of Denmark in Dhaka is also representing Norway Schengen Visa Cases. The process and required documents for Norway are the same as when applying for a visa to visit Denmark.

EU-REGULATION
- Application can be submitted only Six (06) months prior to the intended entry into the Schengen area and Nine (09) months advance for Seafarers.
- From 1 May 2010 only passports issued within the previous ten (10) years will be accepted.
- Passport must have at least two blank pages
- Passport should be valid for at least three months longer than intended stay.

PROCESSING TIME
Processing of visa application through VFS will be given priority by the Embassy and the applicant must allow for a processing time of minimum 15 days, excluding the VFS handling time back and forth to the Embassy of Denmark. In some cases, the processing time can be extended to 45 days, when further case processing is needed.
Travel Medical Insurance
Applicants must provide proof of travel medical insurance covering the full time of their intended visit. The insurance must be valid throughout the territory of the Member States. The minimum cover shall be EUR 30,000. For the list of approved Travel Insurance Companies, please click here.
Tourism

Overview
Application is applicable in case you are travelling for Tourism. This visa is given for a travel period of less than 90 days.
The process and required documents are the same for Norway visa cases since the Embassy of Denmark represent Norway.

Size of photograph for visa applications
After the instalment of a new system for scanning biometrics, including photographs for visa application, it is now possible to lodge a photograph of size 35 x 45 mm. Length of the head should not exceed 30 to 36 mm in length from chin to top of hair.
The photograph must still be in color with bright background.
Danish Visa Application Centre has been instructed by Danish mission to inform applicants that the visa application is not acceptable if the photograph does not comply with the above format.
Applicants may therefore obtain a new photograph that meets all requirements before The Danish Visa Application Centre can receive the application.

Bona fide cases (Approved by the Embassy) – normally 15 days, for a fully completed application with proper documentation which is handed in at the VFS Visa Application Centre. Please hand in your application well in advance during peak season.
Cases for Danish Immigration Service (DIS) – See the processing time in https://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-GB/Words-and-concepts/US/Diverse-US/Application-processing-times-in-the-Danish-Immigration-Service and add 3-5 working days of processing time at the Embassy.
The processing period may be extended up to a maximum of 45 calendar days in individual cases, notably if further scrutiny of the application is needed or in cases of representation where the authorities of the represented Schengen State are consulted.
Exceptionally, when additional documentation is needed in specific cases, the period may be extended up to a maximum of 60 calendar days.
Citizens of certain countries or categories of certain citizens are subject to prior consultation in one or more Schengen countries before a visa may be issued. The processing time in these cases will usually be 10-12 days as a minimum. See list of these nationalities and categories of persons (annex 16 to the Visa code Handbook).

Family Members of EU/EEA/SWISS Citizens

A family member of an EU/EEA citizen has the right to have a visa application processed in accordance with EU regulations, if the family member is accompanying or joining the EU/EEA citizen or Swiss citizen. It is a precondition that the EU/EEA citizen or Swiss citizen is exercising his/her right of free movement in Denmark.

Official Visit

Overview
This category of visa caters to people wishing to visit Denmark or Norway represented by the Embassy of Denmark in Dhaka for a maximum of 3 months for official purposes.
According to Schengen regulation (Handbook of Visa Code) article 7.10 it is the applicant who needs to submit the necessary documents to be granted a visa and the Embassy does not need to make further investigation into an application if the documentation is not sufficient. Failure to submit the required documents will lead to a refusal of the application
Applicants will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.
The process and required documents are the same for all the countries that the Embassy of Denmark represents.

Overview
Applicants for a seaman’s visa must be employed in any capacity on board a vessel, and seeking to enter Denmark or Norway which is represented by the embassy of Denmark solely in pursuit of his/her calling as a seaman, with the intention of departing with the vessel or reshipping on other vessel that is bound for a foreign port or place or one coming to the Denmark or Norway which is represented by the embassy of Denmark to join a vessel in this country.

Size of photograph for visa applications
After the instalment of a new system for scanning biometrics, including photographs for visa application, it is now possible to lodge a photograph of size 35 x 45 mm. Length of the head should not exceed 30 to 36 mm in length from chin to top of hair.
The photograph must still be in color with bright background.
Danish Visa Application Centre has been instructed by Danish mission to inform applicants that the visa application is not acceptable if the photograph does not comply with the above format.
Applicants may therefore obtain a new photograph that meets all requirements before The Danish Visa Application Centre can receive the application.

Processing Time
Bona fide cases (Approved by the Embassy) – normally 15 days, for a fully completed application with proper documentation which is handed in at the VFS Visa Application Centre. Please hand in your application well in advance during peak season.
Cases for Danish Immigration Service (DIS) – See the processing time in https://www.nyidanmark.dk/en-GB/Words-and-concepts/US/Diverse-US/Application-processing-times-in-the-Danish-Immigration-Service and add 3-5 working days of processing time at the Embassy.
The processing period may be extended up to a maximum of 45 calendar days in individual cases, notably if further scrutiny of the application is needed or in cases of representation where the authorities of the represented Schengen State are consulted.
Exceptionally, when additional documentation is needed in specific cases, the period may be extended up to a maximum of 60 calendar days.
Citizens of certain countries or categories of certain citizens are subject to prior consultation in one or more Schengen countries before a visa may be issued. Overview
A residence permit is necessary for those wishing to stay in Denmark for more than 90 days. The Royal Danish Embassy in Bangladesh is the receiving office for residence permit applications for Denmark. Your application will be forwarded to Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI) or Danish Immigration Service (DIS) in Denmark for processing.
The application should be submitted in the applicant’s country of usual residence or home country. However, if this is not possible, and the applicant is staying legally in Bangladesh, the application may be submitted at the Denmark Visa Application Centre in Bangladesh.

Processing Time
The Royal Danish Embassy in Bangladesh will forward the residence permit applications to The Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) in Norway for processing. For the latest information on processing times, please go to http://www.udi.no/en/word-definitions/case-processing-times/. UDI updates the information regularly.
The Visa Application Centre will hand out the decision to the applicant once they receive it from the Royal Danish Embassy.
