Overview

A transit visa is required for nationals of certain states to go through the international transit area of airports, without actually entering the national territory of the country concerned, during a stop-over or transfer between two stages of an international flight.

In other words an Airport Transit Visa is required when you are required to connect through an airport in one of the Schengen countries without actually leaving the transit are of the airport. [I.e. you arrive from a non-Schengen country and depart to a non-Schengen country]

IMPORTANT

Applications can be lodged earliest three (3) months before the planned trip.

Visas are not issued on the day of the application and may take up to 15 working days or more, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed or in cases of representation where the authorities of the represented Member State are consulted.

Holders of Schengen visas are still subject to immigration control at the point of entry and are not guaranteed entry into any of the Schengen countries

2. Valid passport with validity of at least (3) months after expiry of the visa and should contain at least 3 blank pages.

4. Two (2) recent passport-size photographs bearing a true likeness to the applicant with a white background.
5. Confirmed air ticket/s to final destination. If ticket is presented, a copy is retained.
6. Valid entry visa for country of Destination.

7. NON-ALGERIAN CITIZEN:

8. FOR MINORS (UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE):

   Birth certification of minor

Photo Specifications

• The photographs must be:

  • No more than 6-months old
  • 35-40mm in width
  • Close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70 -80% of the photograph
  • In sharp focus and clear
  • Of high quality with no ink marks or creases

• The photographs must:

  • Show you looking directly at the camera
  • Show your skin tones naturally
  • Have appropriate brightness and contrast
  • Be printed on high quality paper, and at high resolution Photographs taken with a digital camera must be high quality colour and printed on photo-quality paper.

Style and lighting

• The photographs must be:

  • Be colour neutral
  • Show your eyes open and clearly visible-no hair across your eyes
  • Show you facing square on to the camera, not looking over one shoulder (portrait style) or tilted, and showing both edges of your face clearly
  • Be taken with a plain light-coloured background
  • Be taken with uniform lighting and not show shadows or flash reflections on your face and no red eye

Glasses and head covers

• If you wear glasses :

  • Be colour neutral
  • The photograph must show your eyes clearly with no flash reflection off the glasses, and no tinted lenses (if possible, avoid heavy frames - wear lighter framed glasses if you have them)
  • Make sure that the frames do not cover any part of your eyes.

• Head coverings :

  • Are not permitted except for religious reasons, but your facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of your face must be clearly shown.

The Schengen visa allows entry and free movement on the territory of the 26 States concerned by the Schengen Agreements (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Sweden, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland). The duration of the visa cannot exceed 90 days per semester, except for the shorter duration mentioned on the sticker. Visas for stays longer than 90 days per semester are not Schengen visas and are subject to special conditions (special forms are available at the counter or downloadable under the following link: https://algier.diplo.de/dz-fr/service/05-VisaEinreise/-/1305264 Only applications with Germany or Lithuania as the main destination of the trip will be accepted. The documents must be presented in original with a simple copy.
2. Additional documents may, if necessary, be requested. The processing time will be 15 working days from the date of filing. The presentation of a complete dossier does not necessarily entail the issue of a visa. The applicant must provide all documents during a personal interview with the Embassy and not send them by mail to the Embassy. To the documents in Arabic language a translation in German or French language must be joined. Administrative costs (non-refundable in case of refusal): the equivalent of 80.00 Euro to be paid only in Algerian dinars in cash when filing the application. Applications are submitted at the earliest six months before the start of the planned trip.

3. A biometric photo (recent identity photo on bright background and uncovered face)
4. Passport valid for at least 3 months after expiry of the visa requested.
5. Copy of all targeted pages of the passport + copy of the previous passport (if the current one is less than one year old)
6. Travel health insurance contract covering the duration of the first trip, valid for all countries in the Schengen area, covering medical costs and repatriation in the event of accident or illness (minimum cover: € 30,000)
7. Invitation from the German company / or institution in original specifying the reason, the duration of the visit and the care during the stay in Germany or Lithuania + a copy of the passport or identity card of the person who signed the invitation. The copy of the commercial register of the German company / institution is compulsory, with the exception of German companies known worldwide, p. ex. Siemens, BASF, Mercedes, etc.
8. Reservation ticket or invitation to visit a fair
9. Supporting documents for commercial relations with a German company (invoices, direct debits, contracts)
10. Evidence of the traveler’s socio-professional situation:
    1. Married persons: family file
    2. Employees: recent work certificate or work contract + last three pay slips + mission order + Social Security affiliation certificate + employer's business register in Arabic and French + bank statement of the last six months
    3. Merchants: trade register in Arabic and French + roll extract + certificate of the updating of the CASNOS + bank statement of the last six months
    4. Liberal professions: installation decision / professional card + update of the CASNOS + bank statement of the last six months
    5. Farmers: certificate of farmer + farmer's card + update of the CASNOS + bank statement of the last six months
    6. Retired persons: retirement certificate
    7. Students: certificate of education + student card + supporting documents parents' socio-professional situation
    8. If the applicant is not an Algerian national: Algerian residence card, valid for at least 3 months after expiry of the visa application
11. Proof of accommodation: Certificate of accommodation, confirmed hotel reservation, proof of rental
12. If the applicant is not an Algerian citizen: Algerian residence card, valid for at least 3 months after expiry of the visa requested + photocopy format A4

The duration of the short-stay visa not exceeding 90 days over a period of 180 days, except for the shorter duration mentioned on the vignette.  Visas for stays exceeding 90 days over a period of 180 days are not Schengen visas and are subject to special conditions (residence permits, family reunification, etc.)
2. The German Embassy in Algiers deals only with Schengen visa applications

   6. Formal obligation (German Residence Law) according to §66-68 from the inviting person in Germany: original+copy
   7. Family record, birth certificate N ° 12,marriage certificate, residence card of the parent in Germany
   8. Proof of means of subsistence: Statement of a bank account in Algeria for the last three months; Proof of the economic resources in euros allowing the stay (credit card, extract of the bank account showing movement) or taking charge.
   9. Proof of the traveler's socio-occupational situation:
      1. Employees: Work certificate or recent employment contract + last three pay slips + leave or mission order + Social Security affiliation certificate (CNAS) + annual declaration of wages of the previous year + trade register Of the employer.
      2. Retailers: Employer's business register + certificate of existence + management proxy + role extract + update of CASNOS.+bank statement of the last six months.
      3. Liberal Professions: Installation Decision / Business Card + update of CASNOS +bank statement of the last six months
      4. Farmers: Certificate of farmer +farmer map+ update of CASNOS+role extract+bank statement of the last six months.
      5. Taxi: booklet of place+ technical control
      6. Retired: Certificate of receipt of a retirement pension.

Spouse/partner/common law spouse

The direct descendants (children) who are under the age of 21 or are dependents, and those of the spouse or partner.

Eligibility

You are eligible if you can prove objectively that all of the following requirements are met:

1. You are a family member of an EU/EEA/Swiss national.

   (this includes a spouse, registered partner, child who is under 21 or a depending family member); and

2. you are accompanying the EU/EEA/Swiss national or planning to join him/her; and

For his stay in Germany, the applicant must haveat least 861 euros permonth. When you submit your visa application, you must certify that you have financial means for at least one year, i.e. at least EUR 10 332 (e.g. by means of a blocked account or a formal declaration of support).

In case of funding through a blocked account: the blocked account must be opened BEFORE applying for a visa. When submitting the visa application, only the official confirmation of the opening of the account,with indication of the total amount paid and the amount availablemonthly, is accepted. A confirmation that does not mention these amounts is not enough.

• Proof of sufficient health insurance coverage (must be presented at the latest at the time of recovery of the visa)
  If, as a student, you wish to be affiliated to the statutory health insurance scheme, please note that you will only be able to benefit from it when you have your domicile in Germany and are enrolled in university. In the event of entering German territory at an earlier date, you must take out private health insurance, which will cover you until you enroll in university and until you are covered by the statutory health insurance scheme. In their insurance conditions, travel health insurance may exclude coverage as long as a long-term or permanent stay is planned. • The applicable visa fee in Algerian Dinar (DZD) is as per current exchange rate. It is subject to change without notice.
• The applicants who submit their applications at the Visa Application Centre can pay the visa fee in cash or through credit / debit card.
• Applicants exempted from visa fee need to pay only Service Charge.

Documents Required

1. Two (2) application forms, accompanied by the information under Article 54 of the Law on the Stay of Foreigners in Germany – AufenthG, duly completed and signed.
2. Where applicable, two (2) completed and signed contact information and power of attorney statements.
3. Two (2) recent biometric passport id photos.
4. A valid passport (hand-signed with at least two (2) blank pages).
5. Two (2) single copies of the identity page of your valid passport.
6. Form completed and signed by the employer: "Declaration of Employment" with supplementary sheet A, original and two (2) copies
7. Decision of the body responsible for professional recognition in Germany confirming the need to implement adaptation and compensation measures to establish the equivalence of the professional qualification or to grant the authorization to practice the profession: original and two (2) copies.

8. If the decision on deficiencies in training so provides:
   registration for theoretical training, in company qualification measures (with the continuing education programme) or in examination preparation courses: original and two (2) copies.
9. If the decision on deficiencies in training so provides:
   registration for the knowledge verification examination and, if applicable, registration for the knowledge verification examination preparation course: original and two (2) copies.
10. If a German course is planned as part of the qualification measure:
    confirmation of registration for this course by the language school, with indication of the number of hours of lessons per week (intensive course including at least 18 hours of courses per week) and confirmation of payment of the course fees: original and two (2) copies.
11. Supporting documents attesting to the qualification, e.g., diplomas, certificates, and attestation of successful completion of the diploma: original and two (2) copies with translation.
12. Proof of current knowledge of German: original and two (2) copies.
    (The minimum level required is generally A2, and B1 in health professions)
13. Proof of sufficient health insurance coverage (must be presented at the latest at the time of recovery of the visa)
    If, as an employee, you are compulsorily affiliated to the statutory health insurance scheme, please note that you will only be able to benefit from it when you have taken up residence in Germany and started working. In the event of entering German territory on an earlier date, you must take out private health insurance, which will cover you until the start date of your employment contract and until you are covered by the statutory health insurance scheme. In their insurance conditions, travel health insurance may exclude coverage as long as a long-term or permanent stay is planned. Please also note that even health insurance for people staying temporarily in Germany may include such an exclusion.
14. Proof that you have sufficient financial means.

For their stay in Germany, each applicant must have a net monthly amount of at least EUR 827 / a gross monthly amount of at least EUR 1033. Proof of these funds must be provided in advance when the application is lodged. If the applicant does not receive a salary immediately after entering the territory or if the salary received is less than a net monthly amount of EUR 818, he must justify separately from the missing monthly amount, for example by a blocked account.

If the applicant finances his stay himself, he must have a monthly amount of at least EUR 947 (e.g. through a blocked account).

In case of funding through a blocked account: the blocked account must be opened BEFORE applying for a visa. When submitting the visa application, only the official confirmation of the opening of the account,with indication of the total amount paid and the amount availablemonthly, is accepted. A confirmation that does not mention these amounts is not enough.

Photograph Quality

• The photographs must be:

  • No more than 6-months old
  • Width 35-40mm
  • Close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70 -80% of the photograph
  • In sharpness
  • High quality without ink marks or folds

• The photographs must:

  • Show you looking directly at the camera
  • Display your skin tones naturally
  • Have appropriate brightness and contrast
  • Be printed on high-quality, high-resolution paper Photographs taken with a digital camera should be of high quality in color and printed on photo-quality paper.

Style and lighting

• The photographs must be:

  • Color neutral
  • Show your eyes open and clearly visible - no hair on the eyes
  • Show you square face on camera, do not look over a shoulder (portrait style) or tilted, and showing both sides of your face clearly
  • Be taken with a clear background
  • Be taken with uniform lighting and do not show shadows or flash reflections on your face and not red eyes, glasses and headgear

Glasses and head covers

• If you wear glasses :

  • Be colour neutral
  • The photograph should show your eyes clearly without flash reflection on the lenses, and no tinted lenses (if possible, avoid heavy frames - wear lighter framed glasses if you have them)
  • Make sure that the frames do not cover any part of your eyes.

• Head coverings :

  • Are not allowed except for religious reasons, but your facial features from the bottom of the chin to the top of the forehead and both edges of your face must be clearly indicated.
