Overview

An airport transit visa is applicable to some nationalities who are just transiting the Schengen territory and will not leave the transit area of the airport.

The following persons will be exempted from Schengen Visa fees:

• Children below the age of 6 years
• Spouses/same sex partners and minor children of German citizens as well as parents to minor German nationals.
• Spouses/same sex partners and minor children of EU/EEA nationals, provided they enjoy free movement

Visa fee to be paid only in Cash.

• Information on Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is mandatory for all Schengen countries.

Accepted Medical Insurance:

All travel/overseas health insurances are accepted that have been issued from any insurance company in Bangladesh or abroad, if it fulfills the following two conditions:

• Valid for the entire duration of the requested visa and for all Schengen countries
• Minimum coverage 30,000EURO and repatriation. (Medical insurances of credit cards are not accepted)

One recent biometric passport sized photographs (3.5x4.5cm)

Requirements:

• Should not be older than 6 months
• A frontal view of the face covering 70-80% (32-26mm) of the biometric photo
• A uniform and white background
• Clear facial features
• Head coverings are only accepted for religious reasons

Do not glue or staple the pictures to the application form.

Processing Time

1. The processing time at the Embassy due to necessary and obligatory legal requirements takes up to 15 calendar days or more and can vary in certain cases as per Embassy's decision.
2. Applicants are requested to apply well in advance, but – due to legal requirements - not more than six months prior to the intended date of journey. Schengen Visa applications can be handed in up to 6 months prior to the intended trip (seaman 9 months prior)
3. Status updates during the regular processing time are not entertained.
4. During the whole processing time the passport must remain with the German Embassy.
5. Passports can only be withdrawn in case a written request by the customer is presented to the Embassy.
6. Passport will be handed over directly by the Embassy or via VFS as per mission instruction.

2024 VFS Requirements for Family Member (German): No visa fee will be charged for spouses of German citizens / minor children of German citizens / parents of Germans under 18. This information sheet is only for German Spouse/Parent/Child.

All other relatives may apply for a normal tourism visa with a visa fee. They can add that they want to visit their German relatives. E.g.- nephew can visit his uncle, who is a German citizenship holder and nephew is required to pay visa fees.

2024 VFS Requirements for Family Members (EU Citizen): Proof is needed that the EU Citizen pays alimony regularly for all relatives that are not children under 21 or spouses. This information sheet is for all the relatives of an EU Citizen. All of them are exempted from the fees.

Photo Specifications

One recent biometric passport sized photographs (3.5x4.5cm)

Requirements:

• Should not be older than 6 months.
• A frontal view of the face covering 70-80% (32-26mm) of the biometric photo
• A uniform and white background.
• Clear facial features
• Head coverings are only accepted for religious reasons.

Do not glue or staple the pictures to the application form.

Processing Time

1. The processing time at the Embassy due to necessary and obligatory legal requirements takes up to 15 calendar days or more and can vary in certain cases as per Embassy's decision.
2. Applicants are requested to apply well in advance, but – due to legal requirements - not more than six months prior to the intended date of journey. Schengen Visa applications can be handed in up to 6 months prior to the intended trip (seaman 9 months prior)
3. Status updates during the regular processing time are not entertained.
4. During the whole processing time the passport must remain with the German Embassy.
5. Passports can only be withdrawn in case a written request by the customer is presented to the Embassy.
6. Passport will be handed over directly by the Embassy or via VFS as per mission instruction.

NOTE: Special rules might apply for some nationals whose passports are not recognized by the German authorities. You might be re-quested to come personally to the Embassy. Visa processing will take more time.

Overview

Customers for a seaman’s visa must be employed in any capacity on board a vessel, and seeking to enter German or any of the countries represented by the Embassy of German solely in pursuit of his/her calling as a seaman, with the intention of departing with the vessel or reshipping on other vessel that is bound for a foreign port or place or one coming to the German or any of the countries represented by the Embassy of German to join a vessel in this country.

The process and required documents are the same for all the countries that are represented by the German Embassy, Dhaka.

Visa Fees

The following persons will be exempted from Schengen Visa fees:

• Children below the age of 6 years
• Spouses/same sex partners and minor children of German citizens as well as parents to minor German nationals.
• Spouses/same sex partners and minor children of EU/EEA nationals, provided they enjoy free movement

Visa fee to be paid only in Cash.

The visa fee is subject to change without notice.

Along with the visa fees, there is a service charge applicable per visa application. To book an appointment with Germany Visa Application Centre in Dhaka, prepayment of the following service fee is mandatory.

National visa applications for the following categories can only be submitted through VFS: Study Visa- Master students.

This visa is solely for the purpose of studying in the duration of more than 90 days.
