Overview

An airport transit visa is applicable to some nationalities who are just transiting the Schengen territory and will not leave the transit area of the airport.

The visa fee is subject to change without notice.

Along with the visa fees, there is a service charge applicable per visa application. To book an appointment with Germany Visa Application Centre in Dhaka, prepayment of the following service fee is mandatory.

• Information on Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is mandatory for all Schengen countries.

Accepted Medical Insurance:

All travel/overseas health insurances are accepted that have been issued from any insurance company in Bangladesh or abroad, if it fulfills the following two conditions:

• Valid for the entire duration of the requested visa and for all Schengen countries
• Minimum coverage 30,000EURO and repatriation. (Medical insurances of credit cards are not accepted)

2. As per Embassy's instruction, the applications of applicants coming with wrong category selection, will not be taken by VFS. VFS Germany VAC will return the applicants if they come with the selection of a wrong category. The applicants must once again book an appointment with VFS with the correct choice of the visa category to ensure submission of their application.
3. Please bring all the original documents and certificates along with a photocopy as per the checklist.

Do not glue or staple the pictures to the application form.

1. The processing time at the Embassy due to necessary and obligatory legal requirements takes up to 15 calendar days or more and can vary in certain cases as per Embassy's decision.
   ATTENTION: Please note Currently not possible to give an exact estimate of the processing time.
2. Applicants are requested to apply well in advance, but – due to legal requirements - not more than six months prior to the intended date of journey. Schengen Visa applications can be handed in up to 6 months prior to the intended trip (seaman 9 months prior)
3. Status updates during the regular processing time are not entertained.
4. During the whole processing time the passport must remain with the German Embassy.
5. Passports can only be withdrawn in case a written request by the customer is presented to the Embassy.
6. Passport will be handed over directly by the Embassy or via VFS as per mission instruction.

NOTE: Special rules might apply for some nationals whose passports are not recognized by the German authorities. You might be re-quested to come personally to the Embassy. Visa processing will take more time.

Therefore, please check your travel plans before making your application to the German Embassy. 2024 VFS Requirements for Family Member (German): No visa fee will be charged for spouses of German citizens / minor children of German citizens / parents of Germans under 18. This information sheet is only for German Spouse/Parent/Child.

All other relatives may apply for a normal tourism visa with a visa fee. They can add that they want to visit their German relatives. E.g.- nephew can visit his uncle, who is a German citizenship holder and nephew is required to pay visa fees.

1. The regular processing time at the Embassy due to necessary and obligatory legal requirements takes up to 4 weeks or more and can vary in certain cases as per Embassy's decision.
2. Status updates during the regular processing time are not entertained.
3. During the whole processing time the passport must remain with the German Embassy.
4. Passports can only be withdrawn in case a written request by the customer is presented to the Embassy.
5. Passport will be handed over by directly by the Embassy or via VFS as per mission instruction.

NOTE: Special rules might apply for some nationals whose passports are not recognized by the German authorities. You might be re-quested to come personally to the Embassy. Visa processing will take more time.

General Data Protection Regulation

Overview

This visa is solely for “Qualified Students” applying for the duration of more than 90 days.

Whether you are a qualified student is determined by the questionnaire within the Consular Service Portal. Qualified students are for example (PhD students and Scholarship holders)

Please read carefully the following “Document requirement”, “Photo Specifications”, “Download Form” and “Processing time” to prepare your application according to the requirements of the German Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Please note:

• VFS Service fees and Value Added Service(VAS) fees are subject to change as per exchange rate.
• Qualified Students must apply through the Consular Service Portal of the Federal Foreign Office. Please click Consular Services Portal | Visa at a glance
• VFS service fee is mandatory for successful submission of application and biometrics.
• Please note that VFS service fee is non-refundable. Ensure that you select the correct visa category when submitting your application on the Consular Service Portal (CSP) and the VFS payment module. Payments made under an incorrect visa category are not eligible for refunds.
• Applicants must pay the VFS service fee on CSP to book their appointments with VFS Germany VAC in Dhaka.

Visa Fees

The Visa Fee for the applicable visa type is listed in the table below. The fee mentioned is applicable per applicant.

The visa fee is subject to change without notice.

Along with the visa fees, there is a service charge applicable per visa application. To book an appointment with Germany Visa Application Centre in Dhaka, prepayment of the following service fee is mandatory.

2. As per Embassy's instruction, the applications of applicants coming with wrong category selection, will not be accepted by VFS. VFS Germany VAC will return the documents if their selection of category is wrong. VFS Germany VAC will then request the applicant to withdraw their application from CSP.
3. The applicants must once again go through the entire procedure with CSP and book an appointment with VFS with the correct choice of the visa category to ensure the acceptance of their application.
4. Please carry all the original documents and certificates during your biometrics.
