Visa Information

Individuals travelling to Italy with the purpose of doing business can apply for Schengen Visa. Please note that applicants applying for a business visa are required to provide documents according to this category.

The category of business visa is reserved for applicants whose purpose of the trip to Italy is commercial: signature of a contract, purchase of products or materials, reparation of existing machines, selling of products/material, training in the field etc…

To apply for a business visa it is mandatory to present an invitation letter from an Italian company, together with the Italian business license and ID copy of the person who invites.

Please note:

Unemployed, students, housewives, minors cannot apply for a business visa.

Accompanying persons (i.e. spouse or children) must apply for a tourism visa.

Visa fees applicable as of July 1st 2024:

• spouses;
• partner (in case of bounding civil union, compared by hosting Member State’s law to marriage and not in violation of hosting Member State law);
• direct descendants under the age of 21 or who rely on them and those of the spouse or partner;
• direct ascendants relying on them and those of the spouse or partner.

• Be 3.5X4 cm
• Maximum 6 months old, resemble the applicant
• Full face, facing the camera directly, eyes looking straight at the camera
• Show the whole head and the top of the shoulders. The face shall occupy 70-80% of the picture
• Show open eyes that are clearly visible. Hair shall not cover the eyes

Regarding glasses:

Glasses are allowed as long as the eyes are clearly visible

• The glasses cannot be colored
• The rim must not cover any part of the eyes
• There cannot be reflection in the glasses

According to Schengen Visa Code all decisions must be given within 15 calendar days, eventually extendible to 30 days (see art. 23). We do recommend lodging visa applications well in advance. Applications cannot be lodged earlier than six months before the start of the intended journey.

Citizens of some countries are subject to consultation procedure, which might extend processing time up to 7 days. If you are not a Chinese national, please check here if your country/passport needs consultation procedure.

Applicants who are family members of a EU/EEA citizen travelling to Italy with the purpose of tourism can apply for a tourism Schengen visa.

Following documents must be provided by applicants who can prove their family relation with an EU/EEA citizen (i.e. spouses, sons and daughters, parents, parents in law) and the relationship must be proved with a notary certificate legalized by relevant authorities (for Chi ese citizens, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs) .

This category is restricted to applicants in possess of an invitation letter from an Italian citizen or a foreign citizen resident in Italy.

To apply it is mandatory to present the original of the invitation letter in the format requested by the Embassy, fully filled and a copy of the ID card (in case of EU citizens) showing the page with the signature, or a copy of the passport ( showing signature page). Non EU citizens must also provide a copy of the residence permit.

Groups travelling to Italy with the purpose of tourism ADS can apply for Schengen Visa. Please note that applicants applying for a tourism visa are required to provide documents according to this category

The Chinese Travel Agencies must be registered at the CNTA and must be accredited by one of the Schengen Embassies in Beijing. The agent who submits the group at the center must show his/her white badge at the entrance.
