Individuals travelling to Italy with for business purpose can apply for Schengen Visa. Please note that applicants applying for a business visa are required to provide documents according to this category as defined by the Schengen harmonized list for China.

Business purposes do include : contract negotiation or signature, purchase of products or materials, products or services selling, training on the field etc…

Please remember to provide an invitation letter from a company based in Italy.

Please note:

Accompanying persons (i.e. spouse or children) must apply for a tourism visa.

In Chongqing Jurisdiction’s VACs, payment can be made through WeChat, Alipay, Fliggypay or in cash at the Submission Counter.

The only currency accepted at the Visa Centers is local currency (CNY).

Visa fees applicable as of 30th December 2024:

Special Schengen visa fees 35 Euro (RMB 270) for following countries: Belarus, Ukraine, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia (incl. Kosovo), Moldova, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The visa fee for children from 6 to 12 years old is Euro 45 (RMB 347). This regulation is only for Schengen visa (up to 90 days).

The following categories are exempted from visa fee

Children under 6 years

  • partner (in case of bounding civil union, compared by hosting Member State’s law to marriage and not in violation of hosting Member State law);
  • direct descendants under the age of 21 or who rely on them and those of the spouse or partner;

The Photo shall:

• Be printed on quality photo paper with high solution
• Be in colors with a white background
• Be 3.5X4 cm
• Maximum 6 months old, resemble the applicant
• Full face, facing the camera directly, eyes looking straight at the camera
• Show the whole head and the top of the shoulders. The face shall occupy 70-80% of the picture
• Show open eyes that are clearly visible. Hair shall not cover the eyes

Regarding glasses:

• Glasses are allowed as long as the eyes are clearly visible
• The glasses cannot be colored
• The rim must not cover any part of the eyes
• There cannot be reflection in the glasses

According to Schengen Visa Code:

• For Schengen Visas, applications shall be decided on within 15 calendar days from the date of the reception of an admissible application - in accordance with Article 19 - at Embassy/Consulate. That period may be extended up to a maximum of 45 calendar days in individual cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed.
• While for National visas, the generally expected deadline can be extended up to 90 days.

It is recommended to lodge visa applications well in advance. Applications cannot be lodged earlier than 180 days prior the start of the intended journey. Please note that for applications lodged at satellite VACs transport of the application to and from the Embassy/ Consulate may take up to four working days.

Individuals travelling to Italy with the purpose of Family Reunion with non-EU citizens can apply for National Visa.
This category is restricted to applicants in possess of a “Nulla Osta” (no impediment) for family reunion, issued by relevant authorities to the relative regularly residing in Italy.

To apply for this visa it is mandatory to bring to the Italy Visa Application Center the “Nulla Osta” that will be controlled by the Consulate.

Please Note:

The “Nulla Osta” is valid 6 months from the date of issuance. Nulla Osta older than 6 months will not be accepted by Visa Application Center.

Individuals travelling to Italy with the purpose of Medical treatment can apply for Medical treatment Schengen Visa.

This category is restricted to applicants who are going to Italy for medical cares which cannot be provided in their country of origin.

Please note that in order to apply for this category of visa it is mandatory to present a declaration from the medical institution in Italy stating the diagnosis, the duration of the treatment, the cost of the treatment, together with a declaration stating that the medical institution has already received 30% of the total cost of the treatment.

In case there is someone accompanying the applicant to Italy, he/she must apply for a tourism visa (Please check the Tourism visa webpage to know more about needed documents) .

This category is restricted to applicants previously residing in Italy and whose residence permit was stolen or lost, or whose residence permit expired no later than 60 days before visa application.

The “Nulla Osta” for Salaried Work is valid for 6 months after the date of the issuance. If you submit your documents after that date, the Visa Application Center will not be able to accept your documents.

ADS groups can also book appointments during the weekend by choosing the ADS Prime-Time service at an additional cost to be added to the regular ADS group service fee. All agents must bring with them their white badge issued by the Consulate General of Italy in Chongqing.

Agencies authorized to lodge ADS group visa applications can pay the visa and service fees through credit card/Alipay or Wechat at the Italy Visa Application Centers the day of applicants’ biometric data enrolment or the day before the biometrics collection by bank transfer to the bank account that will be provided by the Visa Center when booking the appointment.
