Business

Overview
Individuals travelling to Italy with the purpose of doing business can apply for business visa. Please note that applicants applying for a business visa are required to provide documents according to this category.
The category of business visa is reserved for applicants whose purpose of the trip to Italy is commercial: signature of a contract, purchase of products or materials, reparation of existing machines, selling of products/material, training in the field etc.
Please note:
Unemployed, students, housewives, minors cannot apply for a business visa.

Visa Fees
Please be informed that visa fees are collected on behalf of the Consulate Genaral of Italy in Guangzhou.
In Guangzhou Jurisdiction’s VACs, payment can be made through WeChat, Alipay, Fliggypay, credit/debit card or in cash at the Submission Counter. The only currency accepted at the Visa Centers is local currency (CNY).
Visa fees applicable as of 1 April 2026:
Please note that Visa Fees for satellite VACs Changsha, Shenzhen and Fuzhou will be changed 2 working days before Guangzhou.

Special Schengen visa fees Euro 35/applicant (RMB 285/applicant) for following countries: Albania*, Armenia, Azerbajan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina*, Macedonia*, Moldova*, Montenegro*, Serbia*, Ukraine*. This regulation is only for Schengen visa (up to 90 days).
*For the citizens of these countries there is an exemption of visa for short term stays, only if the applicants hold a biometric passport.
The visa fee for children from 6 to 12 years old is Euro 45/applicant (RMB 366/applicant), this regulation is only for Schengen visa (up to 90 days).
The following categories are exempted from visa fee:
- Children under six years (Only for Schengen Visa. For National Visa is not applicable.)
- School pupils, students, postgraduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake stays for the purpose of study or educational training with the duration of maximum 90 days;
- Researchers from third countries travelling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research as defined in Recommendation No 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 2005 to facilitate the issue by the Member States of uniform short-stay visas for researchers from third countries travelling within the Community for the purpose of carrying out scientific research;
- Representatives of non-profit organisations aged 25 years or less participating in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events organised by non-profit organisations;
EU/EEA citizens family members, when accompanying or joining the EU/EEA relative, falling under Directive 2004/38/CE and Italian Legislative Decree 30/2007:
- Spouses;
- Partner (in case of bounding civil union, compared by hosting Member State’s law to marriage and not in violation of hosting Member State law);
- Direct descendants under the age of 21 or who rely on them and those of the spouse or partner;
- Direct ascendants relying on them and those of the spouse or partner.

Photo Specifications
The photo must meet the requirements listed below. If these requirements have not been met, the applicant will have to deliver a new photo. The photo requirements are the same for children as for adults.
The Photo shall:
- Be in sharp focus, clear and with good contrasts
- Be printed on quality photo paper with high solution
- Be in colors with a white background
- Be 3.5 X 4.0 cm
- Maximum 6 months old, resemble the applicant
- Full face, facing the camera directly, eyes looking straight at the camera
- Show the whole head and the top of the shoulders. The face shall occupy 70-80% of the picture
- Show open eyes that are clearly visible. Hair shall not cover the eyes
- No heavy makeup. Do not use photo editor and NO digital make up.
Regarding glasses:
Glasses are allowed as long as the eyes are clearly visible
- The glasses cannot be colored
- The rim must not cover any part of the eyes
- There cannot be reflection in the glasses

Processing Time
According to Schengen Visa Code:
- For Schengen Visas, applications shall be decided on within 15 calendar days from the date of the reception of an admissible application - in accordance with Article 19 - at Embassy/Consulate. That period may be extended up to a maximum of 45 calendar days in individual cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed.
- While for National visas, the generally expected deadline can be extended up to 90 days.
It is recommended to lodge visa applications well in advance. Applications cannot be lodged earlier than 180 days prior the start of the intended journey. Please note that for applications lodged at satellite VACs transport of the application to and from the Embassy/ Consulate may take up to four working days.
Citizens of some countries are subject to consultation procedure, which might extend processing time up to 7 days. If you are not a Chinese national, please check here if your country/passport needs consultation procedure.

Individuals with a legal direct relationship with an EU citizen travelling to Italy with the purpose of tourism can apply for a tourism (EU relative) visa. Please note that applicants applying for a tourism visa are required to provide documents according to this category.
This category is reserved for applicants with a direct relationship with an EU citizen: spouse, child and the relationship must be proved with a notarized and legalized certificate.

Overview
Individuals travelling to Italy with the purpose of family or friend visit (Tourism) can apply for this visa.
This category is restricted to applicants in possess of an invitation letter (please download the format in “Download Forms”) from an Italian citizen or a foreign citizen with a regular residence permit in Italy.
To apply for this category of visa it is mandatory to present the original invitation letter, fully filled along with a copy of the ID card (in case of Italian citizens) in validity with the page of signature, or with a copy of the passport (in case of Chinese citizens) with the signature page and a copy of the residence permit which should be valid at least after the date in which the applicant comes back from Italy.

Photo Specifications
The photo must meet the requirements listed below. If these requirements have not been met, the applicant will have to deliver a new photo. The photo requirements are the same for children as for adults.
The Photo shall:
- Be in sharp focus, clear and with good contrasts
- Be printed on quality photo paper with high solution
- Be in colors with a white background
- Be 3.5 X 4.0 cm
- Maximum 6 months old, resemble the applicant
- Full face, facing the camera directly, eyes looking straight at the camera
- Show the whole head and the top of the shoulders. The face shall occupy 70-80% of the picture
- Show open eyes that are clearly visible. Hair shall not cover the eyes
- No heavy makeup. Do not use photo editor and NO digital make up.
Regarding glasses:
Glasses are allowed as long as the eyes are clearly visible
- The glasses cannot be colored
- The rim must not cover any part of the eyes
- There cannot be reflection in the glasses

Processing Time
According to Schengen Visa Code:
- For Schengen Visas, applications shall be decided on within 15 calendar days from the date of the reception of an admissible application - in accordance with Article 19 - at Embassy/Consulate. That period may be extended up to a maximum of 45 calendar days in individual cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed.
- While for National visas, the generally expected deadline can be extended up to 90 days.
It is recommended to lodge visa applications well in advance. Applications cannot be lodged earlier than 180 days prior the start of the intended journey. Please note that for applications lodged at satellite VACs transport of the application to and from the Embassy/ Consulate may take up to four working days.

Medical Treatment

Overview
Individuals travelling to Italy with the purpose of Medical Treatment can apply for this Visa.
This category is restricted to applicants who are going to Italy for medical cares which cannot be provided in the country of origin.
To apply for this category of visa it is mandatory to present a declaration from the medical institution in Italy stating the diagnosis, the duration of the treatment, the cost of the treatment, together with a declaration stating that the medical institution has already received 30% of the total cost of the treatment.
Please Note:
- In case there is someone accompanying the applicant to Italy, then the category of visa for this person is tourism visa, so the documents must accomplish with tourism visa requirements.
- In case the treatment will long more than 90 days, please contact the Italian Visa Application Centre for more information.

Family Reunion or Short Visit with EU Citizens

Overview
Individuals travelling to Italy with the purpose of Family Reunion or short term visit with an EU citizen have to apply for Schengen Visa.
Note: EU/EEA family member reunion applicants will be issued a short-term tourism visa, once in Italy please go to relevant police authorities to convert your visa into residence permit.

Photo Specifications
The photo must meet the requirements listed below. If these requirements have not been met, the applicant will have to deliver a new photo. The photo requirements are the same for children as for adults.
The Photo shall:
- Be in sharp focus, clear and with good contrasts
- Be printed on quality photo paper with high solution
- Be in colors with a white background
- Be 3.5 X 4.0 cm
- Maximum 6 months old, resemble the applicant
- Full face, facing the camera directly, eyes looking straight at the camera
- Show the whole head and the top of the shoulders. The face shall occupy 70-80% of the picture
- Show open eyes that are clearly visible. Hair shall not cover the eyes
- No heavy makeup. Do not use photo editor and NO digital make up.
Regarding glasses:
Glasses are allowed as long as the eyes are clearly visible
- The glasses cannot be colored
- The rim must not cover any part of the eyes
- There cannot be reflection in the glasses

Processing Time
According to Schengen Visa Code:
- For Schengen Visas, applications shall be decided on within 15 calendar days from the date of the reception of an admissible application - in accordance with Article 19 - at Embassy/Consulate. That period may be extended up to a maximum of 45 calendar days in individual cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed.
- While for National visas, the generally expected deadline can be extended up to 90 days.
It is recommended to lodge visa applications well in advance. Applications cannot be lodged earlier than 180 days prior the start of the intended journey. Please note that for applications lodged at satellite VACs transport of the application to and from the Embassy/ Consulate may take up to four working days.

Individuals travelling to Italy with the purpose of Re-entry can apply for this visa.
This category is restricted to applicants previously residing in Italy and whose residence permit was stolen or lost, or whose residence permit expired no later than 60 days before visa application.Please Note:
