    People lawfully residing in Italy, having lost their residence permit or people having left the country before receiving the renewal of the said permit, can apply for the re-entry visa proving that he/she has travelled out of the country for genuine and importatnt reasons.

    The visa will be issued from the competent "Questura" (Police Headquarters) in Italy. It is a long term period visa (type D) - Single entry.

    Please Note:

    • The applicable VFS service fee in Kenyan Shillings is as per the current exchange rate. It is subject to change without notice. The fee is non-refundable.
    • VFS service fee must be paid via M-pesa at Visa Application Centre after completion of documents checks by the VFS Counter Staff.
    • Visa Application Centre offers an optional service at a nominal additional cost. Please see more detail from Additional Services tab.
    • The purchase of value additional services is optional and does not affect the application process.
  • Documents Required

    Requirements:

    This type of visa is intended to the people resident in Italy but temporarily without permit residence (due to loss, theft or expiry lower than 60 days and whose renewal was required) wishing to return to Italy.

    Kindly note:

    • Personal appearance of applicant is required
    • All documents must be submitted in original, as well as in a clear photocopy, together with the application
    • In case of minors, birth certificate and formal parental/guardian consent to the trip, plus copy of their passport must be provided

    List of documents:

    • Application form duly completed and signed by applicant ( by parent / guardian in case of minor) and phone number.
    • Passport (or other travel document recognized by the Italian Government ) valid for minimum three months after expiry of requested visa, containing at least 2 empty pages and validity not exceeding 10 years.
    • Two recent full face color photos, passport size (45 mm x 35 mm), taken against a light background.
    • In case of a theft or a loss of residence permit, a copy of the report of loss or theft of the police force.
    • In case a residence permit expires within a time lower than 60 days, the original/copy of the expired document and also a copy of the renewal request receipt should be provided.
    • Authorisation (”NULLA OSTA”) for family reunion issued by the competent Italian Authority (”SPORTELLO UNICO PER L’IMMIGRAZIONE”).Only parents should demonstrate that they are financially dependent on the family member resident in Italy.

  • Photo Specifications

    Sample Photograph: Below specs to be maintained at 45mm x 35mm

    Please provide your recent photograph (not more than 6 months old). The photographs should be in colour: -

    • Taken against a clear white background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background;
    • Clear and of good quality(as per the ticked sample but with white background);
    • Printed on normal photographic paper;
    • Unmounted - 45 mm x 35 mm in size;
    • Full face (without sunglasses and normally without a hat or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background).
  • Processing Time

    The processing at the Embassy of Italy is at the Embassy’s discretion.
