Short stay Schengen Visa ( C )

Overview
This visa is solely for the below mentioned purposes. This visa is given for travel period of less than 90 days.
- Leisure travel including vacationing, cruising, sightseeing, visit to friends and/or relatives and other recreational activities.
- Business visa application is applicable in case you are travelling for business purposes like meeting, conferences, etc.
- In case you are travelling for academic / educational purposes.

Visa Fees

- There is a service charge of 137 NIS (Inclusive of all taxes) levied per application over and above the visa fees for each applicants.

No fees will be applicable for the following cases:
- Children under the age of 6 years old
- Family members of EU and Swiss citizens
- Students and their teachers traveling for academic/educational purposes
- Researchers who intend to make scientific researches
- Representatives of non-profit organizations aged 25 years or less participating in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events organized by non-profit organizations.

Malta Visa Checklist Declaration of Proof TRAVEL INSURANCE WHEN APPLYING FOR A SCHENGEN VISA
Visa applicants are required to have medical travel insurance. It must cover any costs that may be incurred in connection with emergency medical aid, urgent hospital treatment or transport to the country of origin for medical reasons or in the event of death.
The insurance is to cover costs of at least EUR 30 000 and to be valid in all Schengen countries and throughout the stay.
When applying, applicants must be able to provide proof that they have medical travel insurance. They should also carry their insurance certificate with them during the trip since they may need to show it, e.g. at an entry checkpoint.
Exemptions
Certain occupational groups may be exempt from the insurance requirement due to their already being similarly insured in connection with their work. Others exempted from the medical insurance requirement are those who:
- Possess a diplomatic passport
- Apply for an airport transit visa
- Are relatives of an EU / Swiss citizen, i.e. his/her
- husband or wife
- registered partner
- common law spouse
- children under 21 years of age
- older children who are financially dependent on their parents
- parents who are financially dependent on their children in the Schengen country of destination.
The following insurance companies operating in the West Bank and/or Gaza have so far been approved by Schengen Member States:
- Ahliea Insurance Group – AIG
- Al-Takaful Palestinian Insurance Co.
- Global United Insurance Company
- Trust International Insurance Company – Palestine
- National Insurance Company – NIC
- Al Mashreq Insurance Company
Please be notified that insurance must comply with the following rules:
- The minimum coverage shall be EUR 30 000,
- The policy must cover repatriation for medical reasons,
- The policy must cover urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment, during the stay(s) on the territory of the Member States,
- The insurance must be valid throughout the territory of the Member States and cover the entire period of the person’s intended stay or transit,
- Claims against the insurance company must be recoverable in a Member State. Particular care should be taken to verify whether a local correspondent is indicated in the policy,
- The insurance must cover on-the-spot assistance (medical expenses and repatriation etc.), which should be distinguished from reimbursement of expenses made only when the applicant has returned.

Photo Specifications
A Photograph submitted with the application for a visa should comply with the following specifications:
- Must be an up-to-date photograph (dated max 6 month old)
- Must be a color photograph printed on normal photographic paper
- Should be sized between 35 – 45 mm
- Full face taken straight forward 30 - 36 mm from point of the chin to top of hair
- Taken against a light background
- Without sunglasses
- Without hat or other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons
- Spectacles should not have toned or reflecting glasses
- The frame of the spectacles may not cover the eyes
- The mouth must be shut

Please note that the Visa application Centre may not accept photographs that do not meet these specifications. In case photos are not meeting the requirements mentioned above Submission Officer might ask to provide updated / recent photos.

Processing Time
Note: The processing time for assessment of a Schengen visa varies accordingly to the nationality of the applicant and the period of the year in which the application is given.
Currently, visa processing time is a minimum of 15 days.
Applicant’s lack of travel plan will not fall on Embassy / Representative Office priority to process your visa. It is advisable to plan your travel well in advance to avoid any inconvenience.

National Long-stay Visa ( D )

Overview
A long-stay “D” visa allows its holder to enter and stay in Malta for more than 3 months. It can be issued for various reasons such as employment, study, academic research, participation in cultural, scientific, religious events, family reunification.
