Long Stay Visa
A national “D” visa allows you to enter Malta in order to apply for a residence permit. It can be issued for a set of reasons (i.e. work, studies, training, etc.) and has a long-stay validity for a maximum of one year. Holders of national visa have the obligation to apply for a residence permit to Malta immediately after their first entry to the country.

Please Note: The Malta embassy will not accept National D-Visa applications for non- resident on the 20 April 2020 until 02 May 2020
Short Stay Visa
All visa applicants for Malta are advised to visit the Joint Visa application centre in Dubai or Abu Dhabi to submit their applications, together with all necessary documents.
Kindly note: For all children below 18 years, both parents need to be present at the Visa Application Centre to sign the application form in front of the officer, who will be accepting their application.
If both parents/ the legal guardian are not present at the time of submission, or if the parents’ or guardians’ ID documents do not show a signature, the Parents Consent Form must be signed in the presence of a Commissioner of Oaths.
Please note that the Consulate General of Malta in UAE issues visas only in its territory of operation – Dubai and northern Emirates (Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Sharjah, Al Ain, Umm Al Qwain and Abu Dhabi). Visas are issued only to citizens and residents of the country they are residing in.
It is advisable to prepare all your required documents corresponding to your travel dates, to avoid delay in the application process.
Schengen visa must be obtained from the Embassy/Consulate of the country where the main purpose of travel lies. Therefore, please check your travel plans before submitting your application. In case of travel to multiple Schengen countries, please make your application to the one where you will be staying for the maximum number of days. If the duration of stay is the same in more than one Schengen country during the first trip, you must submit your visa application at the Embassy/Consulate of your first point of entry.
Please book appointments well in advance depending on your intended date of travel to avoid any inconvenience. Applications cannot be submitted earlier than six (6) months before the travel date. Please refer to the processing time specific to this Mission.

Overview
A tourist visa allows you to stay for a short period in the Schengen area (not more than 90 days per 6 months)
Incomplete, unclear or unsigned applications will not be accepted.
If the visit involves two or more Schengen countries, the Consulate General responsible for the issuance of the visa will be:
- The Consulate General of the country in which the traveler is going to stay the longest.
- If the traveler is to stay the same time in different Schengen countries, the Consulate General of the country of first entry.

Photo Specifications
Applicants are requested to submit their application form with the new photo format, as explained below:
General
The photo must fulfill the norm specified by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).
- Use plain light-White background.
- The photo must be no more than 6-months old.
- Not tilted picture (portrait style) showing both edges of face clearly.
- Close up of the head and top of the shoulders so that the face takes up 70–80% of the photograph.
- Photo in sharp focus and clear.
Photo Size
The photo for each visa applicant must measure:
- The picture dimensions must be 240 pixels wide by 320 pixels high at least. A smaller picture will be rejected. For instance, a photo being 235 pixels by 320 pixels is not valid.
- On the other hand, the photo should keep a proportion of 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm (width x height) within limits. However, 250 x 340 pixels picture would be valid, but not a 290 x 340 pixels one.
- Finally, the image weight (size in Kbytes) can never be bigger than 120 Kbytes.
Resolution
- An image resolution is measured in DPI (dots per inch) and it's mainly used to control printing quality. Therefore, higher resolution means better printing quality.
- Photos resolution should be 300 dpi, so, when you scan the image, check this parameter carefully. However, bear in mind that the higher the resolution, the bigger the picture.

- The only image format accepted is JPEG (Join Photograph Expert Group Format). The other image formats such as BMP, TIFF, GIF, PNG, etc. will be rejected (a warning will be shown).
Attaching the Photo to the Application form - Glue one photograph to the application form in the designated space.
Note : If children are traveling with their parents and are included inside the passport of the mother and/or the father, one photograph for each children MUST be glued to the application form of the father or the mother, depending on whom are they traveling with.
Please follow these instructions carefully. If the photograph presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete.

The standard processing time for the decision on visa applications is 15 days. If in individual cases an extended review is carried out, the processing time may be extended to 45 days. The application should be submitted at least 15 days before the planned trip.

Airport Transit (A)

Overview
Airport Transit visa allows you to wait for a connecting flight in the international area of the airport. This visa does not grant access to the Schengen area.
Airport transit visa may or may not be required depending upon many factors. To know whether you require an airport transit visa you may write an email to [email protected] along with the below information:
- Scanned passport copy
- Visas issued on your passport – valid/expired
- Flight ticket copy/itinerary
If airport transit visa is required, only legal residents in UAE can apply for a visa at the Application Centre’s in Dubai.

The photo for each visa applicant must measure:
- The picture dimensions must be 240 pixels wide by 320 pixels high at least. A smaller picture will be rejected. For instance, a photo being 235 pixels by 320 pixels is not valid.
- On the other hand, the photo should keep a proportion of 3 x 4 (width x height) within limits. However, 250 x 340 pixels picture would be valid, but not a 290 x 340 pixels one.
- Finally, the image weight (size in Kbytes) can never be bigger than 120 Kbytes.
Resolution
- An image resolution is measured in DPI (dots per inch) and it's mainly used to control printing quality. Therefore, higher resolution means better printing quality.
- Photos resolution should be 300 dpi, so, when you scan the image, check this parameter carefully. However, bear in mind that the higher the resolution, the bigger the picture.

- The only image format accepted is JPEG (Join Photograph Expert Grup Format). The other image formats such as BMP, TIFF, GIF, PNG, etc. will be rejected (a warning will be shown).
Attaching the Photo to the Application form - Glue one photograph to the application form in the designated space.
Note : If children are traveling with their parents and are included inside the passport of the mother and/or the father, one photograph for each children MUST be glued to the application form of the father or the mother, depending on whom are they traveling with.
Please follow these instructions carefully. If the photograph presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete.
