Work Permit
-
Overview
In order to apply for a residence permit from Algeria you must either be a citizen of Algeria or Tunis or have a residence permit in one of these two countries. You must have had the residence permit for at least six months before you apply for a residence permit in Norway.
Algerian citizens need a residence permit to work or settle in Norway if their planned stay lasts more than 90 days (3 months).
The applicable provisions are as follows:
- EU / EEA nationals do not need a residence permit to stay or work in Norway. On the other hand, all nationals of these countries who stay in Norway for more than three months must report to the police.
- If you are a national of a non-EU / EEA state and you want to work in Norway or stay there for more than 90 days, you must have a residence permit.
In general, the Directorate of Immigration (UDI) is the body that handles the processing of residence permit applications.
Before applying for a residence permit
You must first determine what type of residence permit corresponds to your needs, depending on the reason for which you are applying, such as work, study or family reunification. You will find information on these different residence permits, their criteria for obtaining them and the application procedures on the website of the Directorate of Immigration.
Please note that you can drop off your D visa application at the visa application center with no need to book an appointment. Please check opening hours.
