Short Term Visa

Overview
With a short term visa you can stay in Norway and other countries of the Schengen area for up to 90 days for a period of 180 days.
The Royal Embassy and the Royal Norwegian Consulate General represent Denmark / Greenland, Sweden, and Iceland for short term visa applications.
Make the request in good time, no later than 15 days before the scheduled date of departure. We accept orders up to 3 months before departure.
- We recommend that you wait for the ticket to be purchased until you have confirmed your visa grant.
- Before attending for the delivery of all necessary documentation, you will need to register your order via the internet. When you attend, your fingerprints will be collected.
- You may be asked to provide additional documentation or may be called for an interview.
Only those who have a residence permit in Brazil can apply for a visitor visa.

Visa Fees
Before you show up to deliver the passport and its documentation, you must register the application in the Application Portal. If it is the first time you place an order, you must do the user registration.
Register the order in Søknadsportalen (order portal)
You will receive a confirmation via e-mail when the portal registration is done. A letter will be attached to the e-mail. This letter confirms that you filled out the application form and paid the fee. You will have to print the letter and have it delivered with the other documents.

SERVICE FEE
On the day of your appointment at the application center, you will have to pay a VFS Service fee.
Applicants requiring an entry visa: BRL 400.80 (EUR 75)
Applicants who do not need an entry visa: BRL 138.90 (EUR 26)
RESUBMISSION OF PASSPORT
The applicant may request to have the passport returned from the embassy while the application is being processed. The applicant may later resubmit the passport for issuance of visa. There is no additional fee for this service.

Visitor visa
With a visitor visa you can stay in Norway and other countries of the Schengen area for up to 90 days for a period of 180 days.
Brazilian citizens with a valid passport do not need a visa to visit Norway or the Schengen area as a tourist.
For citizens of other countries, the following is valid:

EU / EEA and visa-free citizens do not need a visitor visa to visit Norway or other countries in the Schengen area.
- Citizens of other countries need a visitor visa.
Certain rules apply to travel for those who do not require a visitor visa. For more information, please visit the UDI website.
Norway is responsible for the processing of visitor visas for Denmark / Greenland, Sweden and Iceland. If you are applying for a visitor visa for one of these countries, you should follow the same procedure as for Norway.

When all documents are delivered, the visa application process may begin.

RESIDENCE PERMIT
Brazilian citizens need to apply for a residence visa.
For citizens of other countries, the following is valid:
- Citizens of EU / EEA countries do not need a residence permit to stay or work in Norway. All citizens of EU / EEA countries who stay in Norway for more than 3 months are required to register with the police.
- If you are a citizen of a country outside the EU / EEA and wish to work in Norway or stay in the country for more than 90 days then you need a residence permit
It is usually the Immigration Department (Utlendingsdirektoratet - UDI) that will process applications for residence permits.

Overview

To apply for a residence visa for Norway, you must be a Brazilian citizen or have a residence visa in Brazil. You must have lived in Brazil for more than 6 months to apply for a residence visa for Norway.

Processing Time
Applications for residence permits are processed by the UDI. You can find information about the processing time of the process on the UDI website.You will be notified by email once your visa application is processed.
If the resident permit is granted you will receive an email with a UDI document that you must print and take on the trip to Norway. If you are a citizen who requires a visa to enter the Schengen area, your passport will be sent to the Norwegian Consulate in NY for the necessary procedure and returned to VFS GLOBAL.
When you cross the border into the Schengen area, you
- Your passport with the visa sticker (if you need a visa)
- Copy of residence permit
- Relevant documentation justifying the reason for the trip
When you decide when you want to come to Norway, you should arrange an interview with the police. The interview should be made as soon as possible after the date of your arrival in Norway.
The police will take a picture of you and proceed to apply for a residence card. The residence card is an identity card with your photo and confirms that you have a residence permit in Norway. With this residence card, you can also visit other Schengen countries. More information on the regulations on this subject is available on the UDI website.
If the visa is denied, you will receive a letter with information of the reason.
You can appeal the decision within 3 weeks after receiving the letter. -

Residence Permit Denmark

Overview
Brazilian citizens need to apply for a residence visa to Denmark. Click here to know the type of visas.
Due to a cooperation agreement between the Nordic countries, the Norwegian Embassy in Brasilia and the Consulate General of Norway in Rio de Janeiro are responsible for receiving applications for work and residence permits for Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland for the residents of Brazil.

After gathering the documentation, filling in the forms and paying the DIS rate (fee charged by the Immigration Service), the applicant must make an appointment for the mandatory attendance at the Visa Application Centre.
For applications made online, the applicant must appear within 14 days of the date of registration or the process must be reworked.
The biometrics and residence card are made in Denmark, however, it is necessary for the applicant to leave the original passport at the Visa Application Centre so it’s sent to the Norwegian Consulate in Rio de Janeiro in order to have the passport and documentation checked.
Documents to be delivered by ALL applicants on the date of the appointment:
- E-mail confirmation of online submission of your application.
- Proof of payment of the DIS
- Passport and copy of ALL passport pages (from cover to cover)
- 2 photos 3x4
- Payment of the consular fee (in addition to the DIS rate this fee is mandatory and only minors are exempt). For more information check here

Processing Time
After the interview there is no need to return. The process will be sent to the Norway General Consulate in Rio de Janeiro that will scan and submit it to Immigration in Denmark and the response will be sent by email within the time frame which can vary from 2 to 3 months. This email is a letter containing the Immigration response with instructions for entry into Denmark. To travel, simply print the letter and have it at hand.
