VISA TYPES
Select the visa type that is right for you to see important information on visa fees, documents required, forms, photo specifications and processing times.
There are two (2) types of visa to enter Portugal:
1. Short-term Schengen visas;
2. Long-term national visas.
Which visa suits each situation?
If you want to travel to Portugal for: tourism; family visit; business prospecting, developing commercial contacts, meetings or consultations or medical treatments lasting less than ninety (90) days - you must apply for a Schengen Visa.
If you intend to travel for periods longer than ninety (90) days, you can apply for a National Visa , which may be for Residence or Temporary Stay.
Important: A citizen with dual nationality (Portuguese and Angolan) cannot be granted a visa on their Angolan passport, so citizens with dual nationality must travel with both valid passports.
Short Stay , Schengen Visa

Overview
If you wish to visit Portugal for a short period of time, you must obtain a visa prior to entry if you come from a country with a visa requirement for entering Portugal.
Visa application can be submitted by:
- Customer himself
- For minors (only parents or legal guardians) Minors below 12 are not required to come to the application Centre as no Biometric required.
- Passports need to have at least 6 months validity.
If you are not sure whether you require a visa to visit a particular Schengen country, please call that concerned country's embassy.
The issue of Schengen visas is discretionary and depends on examination of each individual case, including purpose of visit and intention to return.

Visa Fees
The visa fees applicable to Schengen visa types are in accordance with the following chart:
ISa TYPES Fees for Visa in Euros (Visa Fees are payable in Kwanza as per consular rate of exchange) Schengen Visa (Visa Type C – Short term OR Transit) - 90 Euros Schengen Visa (Children between 6 AND 12 years of age) - 45 Euros - Reduced rates. The reduced rate shall apply to:
- Visa for children between 6 and 12 years old;
- Nationals of countries with which the European Union has facilitation agreements:
- Albania
- Armenia
- Azerbaijan
- Bosnia
- Georgia
- Macedonia
- Moldova
- Montenegro
- Russia
- Servia
- Ukrania
Benefit from the exemption from the payment of fees
- Children under 6 years olds (at the time of the visa application);
- Students and teachers when travelling on study or training trips;
- Researchers who travel for the purposes of scientific research;
- Representatives of non-profit organizations up to 25 years of age who participate in seminars, conferences, cultural / sporting events organized by non-profit organizations;

Relatives os EU/ EEA or Swiss members
To this end, are considered family members of EU/ EEA or Swiss citizens
- the spouse; or,
- the partner with whom a Union citizen has contracted a registered partnership;
- direct descendants under 21 years of age, as well as those of the espouse or partner;
- descendants over 21 years of age and / or ascendants who are proven to be in charge.
The visa fees applicable in Kwanzas will be calculated according to the consular exchange rate. These are subject to change without prior notice.
The fee is not refundable, refers only to the processing of the visa application and does not imply its issuance.
A service fee of 38 Euro (which includes of all taxes (Regime Transitorio)) will be added to the corresponding fee for each visa application.Family members of EU/EEA or Swiss members are exempt from paying the Service fee.
The payments should be made through POS/Multicaixa at Visa Application Center.
We also offer an SMS Notification Service at a cost of 1.498,00 Kwanzas (Consumer Tax Included). This service is a quick and convenient way to know the status of your visa application. This service is optional.
We also have to offer a Preferred VIP Lounge Service at a cost of 47.080,00 Kwanzas (Consumer Tax Included). This service is a comfortable way to apply for your visa and offers faster service to its users.
We also have to offer Photocopy service at the cost of 856,00 Kwanza (Consumer Tax Included).
We also have to offer form filling service at the cost of 6.420,00 Kwanza (Consumer Tax Included).
After the application has been submitted to the VFS Visa Application Center, there is no refund of the Service fees.

Documents Required
Visa applications must be submitted a maximum of six (6) months in advance and a minimum of fifteen (15) calendar days in individual and duly justified cases.

Photo Specifications
Note: The photographs submitted must meet with these specifications.
Please provide two (2) recent photograph (not more than 3 months old) of yourself. Minors up until 11 years of age (inclusively) should provide two (2) recente photographs. The photographs should be in colour and:
- Taken against a light background (white or off-white) so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
- Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
- Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
- Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the customer wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background].
- Please stick (not stapled) one photograph on the Visa Application Form. Minors up until 11 years of age (inclusively) should provide a second photograph separately along with the documentation during submission at the visa application center.

Processing Time
According to the common Visa Code signed by the Schengen member states, the processing time for an admissible visa application must not exceed 15 days. This period may be extended up to a maximum of 45 days in cases where additional documentation or scrutiny is needed. A visa can have one, two or multiple entries depending if you need to travel outside the Schengen area and back again during your visit.
Nationals of these countries should submit the application with a minimum advance indicated - 15 days from the date of trip since they are subject to prior consultation of the central authorities.

Visa application form has to be completed for all the customer including minors electronically on your computer. The Visa Application Form has to be filled out in Portuguese language only. The form needs to be signed personally by the customer in the field 37 and on the last page.

Schengen visas for family members of EU (and Swiss) Citizens

Overview
- The Visa Code and Community legislation provide for preferential treatment for certain family members of Community/Swiss citizens (including Portuguese citizens), exempting them from scheduling, paying and presenting certain documents.
- Member States shall grant third-country nationals who are family members of citizens of the Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom (under the Withdrawal Agreement) who are covered by Directive 2004/38/EC the facilities for obtaining the necessary visas.
Who is considered family for these purposes?
Visa applicants covered by Directive 2004/38/EC must provide proof of the following cumulatively:
- The following are "family members" of the EU/EEA/Swiss citizen (providing proof of family ties):
- the spouse or the person living with him/her in a de facto union (for more than two (2) years) * ;
- descendants under 21 years of age or descendants over 21 years of age (verifiably) in their care - stepchildren are included as long as they are part of the family unit;
- ascendants (proven) in charge - parents and in-laws.
- They are going to “travel with” or “meet” a citizen of the European Union/EEA/Swiss, with whom they have one of the family ties identified in point 1.
* For the purposes of applying for a visa under a de facto union, the Deed of De facto Union or a declaration of Family Unity, issued by the Angolan authorities, may be presented, or the citizen of Portuguese nationality, in Portugal, may write a declaration, with a signature recognized by a notary in Portugal.

Applicants for Schengen Visas for Family Members of EU/EEA/Swiss Citizens must submit their applications at the Visa Application Center for Portugal in Luanda – VFS , without prior appointment.
Opening Hours : throughout the week, from 12h00 to 15h00ATTENTION- The number of users will be limited to the VFS Global service capacity.

Family members of nationals of EU Member States or Switzerland are exempt from paying fees.

Documents Required
Interested parties must prove that they are beneficiaries of the right to free movement, providing documents that allow this status to be satisfactorily established, by any means of proof admissible in law (for example, marriage certificate, certificate of de facto partnership issued by the competent authorities, declaration of supporting documentation for short-stay visa applications (this last document can be requested at the consulate).
The documents must attest to both family ties and the fact that you are “traveling with, or to meet”.
IMPORTANT NOTES :
- The forms must be signed by the minors themselves or by their parents/legal representatives;
- The contacts provided (telephone numbers and emails) must be those of the applicants themselves;
- Attach copies of previous visas;
- The name and marital status of the visa applicant must be up to date and the same on all supporting documents presented: Identity Card and Passport;
- When the applicant is a minor, he/she must always attach the minor's birth certificate and Identity Card (if he/she has one), as well as the parents' marriage certificate (if they are married);
- Attach declarations proving the applicants’ occupation (professional/school/university) or a handwritten and signed declaration about their occupation;
- The Terms of Responsibility must be signed and must contain the family connection/kinship between the Responsible Party and the Applicant;
- The Terms of Responsibility must contain the direct contact details of the Responsible Party (telephone and email).

Temporary Stay Visa

Overview:
Long-stay visas entitle the holder to stay or establish residence in Portugal depending on the length of stay and the intended reason.
Temporary stay visa
- If customer wants to apply for Portugal visa less than one year or Going for Medical treatment more than 90 days or officially for health establishment can apply for this category.
- Also if family member traveling with above can apply for this category.
- If customer is transferring from Angola to Portugal for job from the company or if customer is going on Deputation can also apply.
- If customer going by self for some job activity.
- Customer if going for any research or come under highly qualified and going for less than one year can also apply this visa category.
- For Sports activity.
- If customer is going for study programmes for higher education, study exchange programme, unpaid work placement or voluntary work for year or less than year also can apply under this visa category.
- Seasonal work for more than 90 days (and maximum of 270 days).

Documents Required
GENERAL DOCUMENTATION:
- Application in a specific form duly completed and signed by the applicant (in the case of minors or disabled people, by the legal guardian);
- Two identical photographs, passport size, updated and in good condition to identify the applicant;
- Proof of regular status, if you are of a nationality other than that of the country where you are applying for a visa, with validity greater than the expiry date of the visa you are applying for;
- Certificate of criminal record from the country of origin or the country where the applicant has resided for more than one year (under 16s are exempt from presenting documents relating to criminal record), with Hague Apostille (if applicable) or legalized;Proof of the existence of means of subsistence as defined by Ordinance

DISPENSATIONS
CPLP citizens are exempt from presenting means of subsistence upon presentation of: Termo Responsabilidade AIMA with recognized signature signed by the entity hosting interns or workers, as well as by the organization responsible for student exchange or volunteering programs ; or, Termo Responsabilidade AIMA with recognized signature, signed by a Portuguese citizen or qualified foreign citizen, with a residence document in Portugal, which guarantees food and accommodation for the visa applicant, as well as the reimbursement of removal costs, in case of irregular stay.
- Proof of the financial capacity of the person signing the liability agreement may be requested.
Applicants admitted to a higher education institution are not required to present means of subsistence.
ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION FOR MINORS:
- When minors do not travel with both parents or travel with a third person, a travel authorization must be presented from the parent with whom they are not traveling or both, with a recognized signature, duly legalized, or a court decision (when applicable).*Photocopy of the parents' Identity Card;
- Documentation proving the reasons for the stay or declaration, signed by the minor's parents or legal guardians, informing about the reasons for the stay (e.g. visiting family or friends, cultural, sports, medical reasons, studies, etc.).
IMPORTANT NOTES :
- Please note that the visa application form must be correctly completed in terms of the reason for the stay, the accommodation address and contact details , and the duration of the stay – which must be equal to or greater than 91 days (maximum 365 days, in the case of temporary stays) – and the date of travel . The responsibility for filling out the form lies solely with the visa applicant .
- The forms must be signed by themselves or by the parents/legal representatives of the minors;
- The contact details provided (telephone numbers and emails) must be those of the applicants themselves;
- Attach copies of previous visas;
- When the applicant is a minor, they must always attach the minor's birth certificate and Identity Card (if they have one), as well as their parents' marriage certificate (if they are married);
- Attach statements proving the applicants' occupation (professional/educational/university) or a handwritten and signed statement about their occupation;
- The Terms of Responsibility must be signed and must contain the family connection/kinship between the Person Responsible and the Applicant;
- The Terms of Responsibility must contain the direct contact details of the Responsible Person (telephone and email).

People who intend to apply Portugal visa for more than one year can apply for residence visa.

Visa Fees
The visa fees applicable to the national visa application are as mention below table:

Documents Required
- Attach statements proving the applicants' occupation (professional/university) or a handwritten and signed statement about their occupation;
- The Terms of Responsibility must be signed and must contain the family connection/kinship between the Responsible Party and the Applicant;
- The Terms of Responsibility must contain the direct contact details of the Responsible Party (telephone and email);
- The citizen who signs the aforementioned Term of Responsibility must have financial resources in the amount of at least three times the value of the guaranteed minimum monthly salary

Photo Specifications
Note: The photographs submitted must meet with these specifications.
Please provide two (2) recent photograph (not more than 3 months old) of yourself. Minors up until 11 years of age (inclusively) should provide two (2) recente photographs. The photographs should be in colour and:
- Taken against a light background (white or off-white) so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
- Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
- Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
- Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the customer wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background].
- Please stick (not stapled) one photograph on the Visa Application Form. Minors up until 11 years of age (inclusively) should provide a second photograph separately along with the documentation during submission at the visa application center.

Processing Time
According to the common Visa Code signed by the Schengen member states, the processing time for an admissible visa application must not exceed 15 days. This period may be extended up to a maximum of 60 days in cases where additional documentation or scrutiny is needed. A visa can have one, two or multiple entries depending if you need to travel outside the Schengen area and back again during your visit.
