Overview
- Visa is valid to visit all the Schengen States
- Only Kuwaiti nationals and nationals of third countries that are legal residents in Kuwait can apply for a visa at the Application Center in Kuwait.
- Visa applicants are requested to appear in person at the time of submission. The Embassy of Slovakia reserves the right to invite the applicant to a personal interview.
- Incomplete, unclear or unsigned applications will not be accepted and the visa application can only be processed upon receipt of ALL documents required by the Embassy.
- Visa fees are non-refundable and have to be paid in cash or Knet, at the time of submission.
- If the visit involves two or more Schengen countries, the Embassy responsible for the issuance of the visa will be:
- The Embassy of the country in which the traveler is going to stay the longest.
- If the traveller is to stay the same time in different Schengen countries, the Embassy of the country of first entry.
- Nationalities of Iran, Kingdom of Morocco, Vietnam, Pakistan & Bangladesh countries has to present invitation verified by Slovak Police Department, otherwise application cannot be accepted. (Tourist visa application is not accepted)

Photo Specifications
Applicants need to submit your Application form with the new photo format, as explained below:
General
The photo must fulfill the norm specified by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization).
- Use plain light-coloured background.
- The photo must be no more than 6-months old.
- Not tilted picture (portrait style) showing both edges of face clearly.
- Close up of the head and top of the shoulders so that the face takes up 70–80% of the photograph.
- Photo in sharp focus and clear.
Photo Size
The photo for each visa applicant submitted must measure:
- The picture dimensions must be 240 pixels wide by 320 pixels high at least. A smaller picture will be rejected. For instance, a photo being 235 pixels by 320 pixels is not valid.
- On the other hand, the photo should keep a proportion of 3 x 4 (width x height) within limits. However, 250 x 340 pixels picture would be valid, but not a 290 x 340 pixels one.
- Finally, the image weight (size in Kbytes) can never be bigger than 120 Kbytes. Finally, the image weight (size in Kbytes) can never be bigger than 120 Kbytes.
Resolution
- An image resolution is measured in DPI (dots per inch) and it's mainly used to control printing quality. Therefore, higher resolution means better printing quality.
- Photos resolution should be 300 dpi, so, when you scan the image, check this parameter carefully. However, bear in mind that the higher the resolution, the bigger the picture.
- The only image format accepted is JPEG (Join Photograph Expert Grup Format). The other image formats such as BMP, TIFF, GIF, PNG, etc. will be rejected (a warning will be shown).
- Attaching the Photo to the Application form
- Glue one photograph to the application form in the designated space.
Note: If children are traveling with their parents and are included inside the passport of the mother and/or the father, one photograph for each children MUST be glued to the application form of the father or the mother, depending on whom are they traveling with.
Please follow these instructions carefully. If the photograph presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete.

Processing Time
The processing time for a visa application is minimum 5 working days, so applicants are advised to leave enough time between the appointment date and travel date for the Embassy to process their visa application.
For certain nationalities (for list click here), the visa application needs consultation from the other Schengen countries and therefore the minimum processing time takes 20-25 working days.
In order to avoid any delays in the visa application process, it is important that the visa application is complete and its documents submitted are as per the Embassy’s requirements (see “Documents Required” page).

Sports, Scientific Or Cultural Activity; Official Exchange Programs

Overview
If your travel to Austria is for one of the following purpose, you are eligible to apply for this visa.
- Participants in scientific, cultural and artistic activities:
- Language course (up to three months)
- Participants in official twin city programs:
- Pupils, students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers:
- Start of academic studies as scholarship student (up to three months)
- Student exchange (up to three months)
- Youth exchange programs
- Workers posted to Austria for specific short-term activities
- Participants in international sports events and accompanying persons in their professional capacity
Description
If you plan to go to Austria to visit relatives for a period not to exceed 90 days and your country is not on the visa-free list, you need a Schengen travel visa (Visa C).
Please note that in order to apply for a travel visa at the Austrian Embassy, your only destination or your main destination (longest duration of stay) must be Austria. In the absence of a main destination (e.g. same duration of stay in two or more countries), you can apply at any of these countries but it is recommended that you apply at the country of first entry because your passport will show the entry stamp of your first destination only.
Important:
Before giving the sponsorship letter, attach a first page copy of national passport.
If you need to annul your previous Schengen visa please fill in an annulation form.
If you travel by car, it’s recommended to attach a route list to common list of documents

Before submission kindly check if your dates in Austria are longer than to other countries of Schengen area.

Visa Fees
The rates are as below. They may be varied at any time. Whenever possible the cashier should be presented with the exact money.

Visa Fees waived categories based on respective visa facilitations agreements signed:
- For close relatives - spouses, children (including adopted) parents (including custodians), grandparents and grandchildren-of citizens of the European Union and of the Republic of Belarus legally residing in the territory of the Republic of Belarus or the Member States;
- For members of official delegations who, following an official invitation addressed to the Member States, the European Union or the Republic of Belarus, shall participate in meetings, consultations, negotiations or exchange programs, as well as in events held in the territory of the Republic of Belarus or one of the Member States by intergovernmental organizations;
- Members of national and regional Governments and Parliaments, Constitutional Courts and Supreme Courts, if they are not exempted from the visa requirement by the present Agreement;
- Pupils, full-time course students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake trips for the purpose of study or educational training;
- Disabled persons and the person accompanying them, if necessary;
- Persons who have presented documents proving the necessity of their travel on humanitarian grounds, including to receive urgent medical treatment and the person accompanying such person, or to attend a funeral of a close relative, or to visit a close relative seriously ill;
- Participants in youth international sports events and persons accompanying them;
- Persons participating in scientific, cultural and artistic activities including university and other exchange programs;
- Participants in official exchange programs organized by twin cities
Note: Please note that you may be charged visa fee even though you meet the above information. This will be done only in consultation with the Embassy of Austria.
VFS service charge:
Apart from the visa fee, VFS service charge in BYN of the equivalent of 50 Euros for submission inclusive of VAT per application will be levied for customers applying at the visa application center.
Please Note:
- Child under 6 years of age and disabled person of all categories are not required to pay service fee.
- Accompanied members of disabled person of all categories are also exempted from paying service charges
- Visa fee and VFS service charge can be paid at the visa application center in cash and are non-refundable.
- Visa and service fees needs to be paid in Belarussian rubles only.
Optional value added services

Original documents and photocopies
When you plan to visit the visa service center to submit your visa application, you must carry all original documents and their photocopies. Visa service center staff will accept photocopies only after checking the original documents.
Please ensure that the photocopies are of good quality and can be read easily.
If you do not provide all required documents, it might be difficult for the embassy staff to assess your application accurately, which may result in your application being delayed or refused.
Translated documents
Overview: Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that you submit all relevant documents as per the requirements of the Austrian Embassy. For certain supporting documents it is advisable to provide the translation done in English or German. There can be delays or refusal by the Embassy if the necessary documents are not translated.
When can you provide your documents?
Austrian embassy will only consider documents submitted with your application. You cannot submit documents after you have completed your application at the service centre, unless our staff asks you for them.
If you do not have a document
You should check that you have all the relevant documents that you want the visa officer to see before you apply for a visa. This is because it is your responsibility to satisfy the visa officer that you qualify for the visa that you have applied for.
If you do not have a document that is listed here, or that you think might be relevant to your application, you should explain why you do not have it. You must not provide a false document. Staff at the visa service centre will put his/her remarks on the checklist in case of deficiency of required documents.
If you provide a false document, it may result of your application being refused.
Note
Before submission kindly check if your dates in Austria are longer than to other countries of Schengen area.
If You are a citizen of Republic of Belarus and you are not leaving an airport area, You won’t need a transit visa.
If You mentioned 90 days in application form you should give a proof of all your days.

Application form
One (1) completed and signed visa application form duly filled in English or German. Application form have to be signed by a person who submits documents.

Application form for children:
Each child has to have a separate application form even if his or her name entered on mother’s passport.. Minorities (before 14) must have 2 signatures in application form from relatives: mother and father. Minorities (after 14) must have 3 signatures in application form from relatives: child, mother and father.
If you can’t prepare the Visa Application form by yourself, our manager can fill the Visa application form for you.

Travel document
Valid passport with 2 expanded empty pages or 1 sheet, the copy of first page of passport with personal data. The passport validity of at least three (3) months after expiry of the visa.
The copies of all Schengen Visas for the whole period of live.
If you need to annul your previous Schengen visa please fill in an annulation form .

Two photographs
Requirements: Your visa application photos must meet certain criteria regarding size and content. Submitting photos that do not meet these criteria can delay the visa application process.
If you haven’t opportunity to make photo in advance, you can make photo in our VAC.

Insurance
Travel, health and accident insurance for the entire period with a Minimum coverage of € 30.000, - and valid throughout the Schengen area. Very Important that the insurance policy covers all risks.

- Copy of the passport: pages concerning the applicant's biodata, passport(s) issued to him/her, registration in Republic of Belarus.

In cases of minors.
- Copy of the birth certificate.
- Consent of the parental authority or legal guardian done by a notary public, only if the minor travels alone or only with one parent. In cases of a single parent holding the parental authority alone (i.e. when the other parent has deceased or has been deprived of custody, the death certificate or the court decree is requested). Consent letter from parents should be original plus copy.
- Copy of the valid Schengen visa of the parent(s) travelling with the minor in case the visas are not applied for at the same time. If documents are submitted by parents for their child, and each parent has opened Schengen visa in that case they should add booking where should be mentioned surnames, names of guests who will stay in a hotel, tickets of flight and departure.

In cases of third-country nationals proof of legal residence in the Republic of Belarus in line with republican legislation (e.g. residence permit, long-term registration), valid for at least three months after the planned return from the Schengen area or a document proving that the applicant has applied for a renewal of the proof of legal residence
If the applicant is not a resident in the Republic of Belarus, he/she needs to submit proof of legal presence in the Republic of Belarus (e.g. visa) and a written justification for submitting the visa application in the Republic of Belarus instead of the country of residence

Additional required documents depending on the purpose of travel:
Participants in scientific, cultural and artistic activities:
- Invitation to participate in such activities from the host organisation in Austria.
- In case not included in the invitation, a separate statement of sponsorship either from the sending or receiving party (or other proof of financial means).

If group of performers apply for visas the following additional documentation requires:
- Guest performance or tour schedule (number of performances, dates and places)
- List of all participants stating their function (e.g. member of orchestra, dancer, lighting technician)

Language course (up to three months):
- Confirmation of language school with details about address, duration and cost of the course. The course has to comprise at least 18 hours per week.
- Proof of accommodation.
- Proof of financial means (e.g. original of bank/credit card statement(s) covering at least three preceding months or proof or sponsorship).
- roof of will to return (proof of employment and/or proof of real estate/property in Republic of Belarus).

Participants in official twin city programs:
- Invitation from the head of administration/mayor of the city where the twinning activity is to take place.

Written request from the head of administration/mayor of the sending city with full details of the participant.
Note: Either the invitation or the written request should include a statement of sponsorship. If not, other proof of financial means.

Pupils, students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers:
- Invitation or certificate of enrolment or student card from the host university, academy, institute, college or school or certificate of the courses to be attended.
- In case not included in the invitation, a separate statement on sponsorship either from the sending or receiving party (or other proof of financial means, e.g. original of bank/credit card statement(s) covering at least three preceding months).

Start of academic studies as scholarship student (up to three months):
Scholarship students are students getting a scholarship for studies in Austria from Austrian public funds or EU funds (e.g. Erasmus).
- Invitation to academic studies or admission to university or other academic institution.
- Proof of grant of scholarship from Austria or EU fund of at least € 659 per month.

Student exchange (up to three months):
- Written request (original or fax) from the inviting institution.
- List of exchange students and their respective hosts (full name and address) and confirmation of the organiser that all hosts are suitable to accommodate the exchange student.

Youth exchange programs
- Invitation (original or fax) including name and address of the hosting Austrian institution and the Republic of Belarus partner organisation, duration of visit, purpose of visit and list of guests (full name, date and place of birth, passport number).
- Either:
- Statement of sponsorship (and one copy thereof) of the hosting institution stating that it will cover all costs for the duration of the stay in the Schengen territory including accommodation, catering, medical expenses etc. Please include a copy of the passport of the person signing the obligation and a copy of a recent (not older than six months) association register extracts.

Participants in international sports events and accompanying persons in their professional capacity:
- Invitation from the host organisation (competent authority, national sports federation or National Olympic Committee), including information on the role (e.g. athlete, official, doctor) of each participant.
- In case not included in the invitation, a separate statement of sponsorship either from the sending or receiving party (or other proof of financial means, e.g. original of bank/credit card statement(s) covering at least three preceding months ).

Photo Specifications
When applying for a visa, you are required to bring 2 photographs as part of completing and submitting your visa application.
If you haven’t opportunity to make photo in advance, you can make photo in our VAC.

Photo Appearance
- The photo must be a full-face front view in which the visa applicant is facing the camera directly, with closed mouth, without smile.
- The face should cover about 70-80 percent of the photo area.
- The photo must be in color, made on matte or glossy paper and have only a white background. Photos with dark, busy, or patterned backgrounds will not be accepted.
- In general, the applicant's head, including both face and hair, should be shown from the crown of the head to the tip of the chin on top and bottom and from hairline side-to-side. It is preferable that ears be exposed.
- Sunglasses or other wear, which detracts from the face, are not acceptable unless required for medical reasons (an eye patch, for example).
- A photo depicting a person wearing a traditional facemask or veil that does not permit adequate identification is not acceptable.

Transit Visa

Overview
An airport transit visa is required from certain travelers to go through the international transit area of airports, without actually entering the national territory of the country concerned, during a stop-over or transfer between two stages of an international flight. The requirement to have such a visa is an exception to the general right to transit without a visa through the international transit area.
Important:
Before giving the sponsorship letter, attach a first page copy of national passport.

Visa Fees
The rates are as below. They may be varied at any time. Whenever possible the cashier should be presented with the exact money.

Visa Fees waived categories based on respective visa facilitations agreements signed:
- For close relatives - spouses, children (including adopted) parents (including custodians), grandparents and grandchildren-of citizens of the European Union and of the Republic of Belarus legally residing in the territory of the Republic of Belarus or the Member States;
- For members of official delegations who, following an official invitation addressed to the Member States, the European Union or the Republic of Belarus, shall participate in meetings, consultations, negotiations or exchange programs, as well as in events held in the territory of the Republic of Belarus or one of the Member States by intergovernmental organizations;
- Members of national and regional Governments and Parliaments, Constitutional Courts and Supreme Courts, if they are not exempted from the visa requirement by the present Agreement;
- Pupils, full-time course students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake trips for the purpose of study or educational training;
- Disabled persons and the person accompanying them, if necessary;
- Persons who have presented documents proving the necessity of their travel on humanitarian grounds, including to receive urgent medical treatment and the person accompanying such person, or to attend a funeral of a close relative, or to visit a close relative seriously ill;
- Participants in youth international sports events and persons accompanying them;
- Persons participating in scientific, cultural and artistic activities including university and other exchange programs;
- Participants in official exchange programs organized by twin cities
Note: Please note that you may be charged visa fee even though you meet the above information. This will be done only in consultation with the Embassy of Austria.
VFS service charge:
Apart from the visa fee, VFS service charge in BYN of the equivalent of 50 Euros for submission inclusive of VAT per application will be levied for customers applying at the visa application center.
Please Note:
- Child under 6 years of age and disabled person of all categories are not required to pay service fee.
- Accompanied members of disabled person of all categories are also exempted from paying service charges
- Visa fee and VFS service charge can be paid at the visa application center in cash and are non-refundable.
- Visa and service fees needs to be paid in Belarussian rubles only.

Original documents and photocopies
When you plan to visit the visa service center to submit your visa application, you must carry all original documents and their photocopies. Visa service center staff will accept photocopies only after checking the original documents.
Please ensure that the photocopies are of good quality and can be read easily.
If you do not provide all required documents, it might be difficult for the embassy staff to assess your application accurately, which may result in your application being delayed or refused.
Translated documents
Overview: Please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that you submit all relevant documents as per the requirements of the Austrian Embassy. For certain supporting documents it is advisable to provide the translation done in English or German. There can be delays or refusal by the Embassy if the necessary documents are not translated.
When can you provide your documents?
Austrian embassy will only consider documents submitted with your application. You cannot submit documents after you have completed your application at the service centre, unless our staff asks you for them.
If you do not have a document
You should check that you have all the relevant documents that you want the visa officer to see before you apply for a visa. This is because it is your responsibility to satisfy the visa officer that you qualify for the visa that you have applied for.
If you do not have a document that is listed here, or that you think might be relevant to your application, you should explain why you do not have it. You must not provide a false document. Staff at the visa service centre will put his/her remarks on the checklist in case of deficiency of required documents.
If you provide a false document, it may result of your application being refused.
Note
Before submission kindly check if your dates in Austria are longer than to other countries of Schengen area.
If You are a citizen of Republic of Belarus and you are not leaving an airport area, You won’t need a transit visa.
If You mentioned 90 days in application form you should give a proof of all your days.

Application form
One (1) completed and signed visa application form duly filled in English or German. Application form have to be signed by a person who submits documents.

Application form for children:
Each child has to have a separate application form even if his or her name entered on mother’s passport.. Minorities (before 14) must have 2 signatures in application form from relatives: mother and father. Minorities (after 14) must have 3 signatures in application form from relatives: child, mother and father.

Travel document
Valid passport with 2 expanded empty pages or 1 sheet, the copy of first page of passport with personal data. The passport validity of at least three (3) months after expiry of the visa.
The copies of all Schengen Visas for the whole period of live.

Two photographs
Requirements: Your visa application photos must meet certain criteria regarding size and content. Submitting photos that do not meet these criteria can delay the visa application process.

Insurance
Travel, health and accident insurance for the entire period with a Minimum coverage of € 30.000, - and valid throughout the Schengen area. Very Important that the insurance policy covers all risks.

- Copy of the passport: pages concerning the applicant's biodata, passport(s) issued to him/her, registration in Republic of Belarus.

In cases of minors.
- Copy of the birth certificate.
- Consent of the parental authority or legal guardian done by a notary public, only if the minor travels alone or only with one parent. In cases of a single parent holding the parental authority alone (i.e. when the other parent has deceased or has been deprived of custody, the death certificate or the court decree is requested). Consent letter from parents should be original plus copy.
- Copy of the valid Schengen visa of the parent(s) travelling with the minor in case the visas are not applied for at the same time. If documents are submitted by parents for their child, and each parent has opened Schengen visa in that case they should add booking where should be mentioned surnames, names of guests who will stay in a hotel, tickets of flight and departure.

In cases of third-country nationals proof of legal residence in the Republic of Belarus in line with republican legislation (e.g. residence permit, long-term registration), valid for at least three months after the planned return from the Schengen area or a document proving that the applicant has applied for a renewal of the proof of legal residence
If the applicant is not a resident in the Republic of Belarus, he/she needs to submit proof of legal presence in the Republic of Belarus (e.g. visa) and a written justification for submitting the visa application in the Republic of Belarus instead of the country of residence

National D Visa
If you intend to stay in Austria for more than 90 days and less than six months ( student exchange, short term study) per year and you are neither EU or EFTA citizen, you require an Austrian national visa (Visa D).
According to the Schengen Visa Codex the holder of a national visa issued by Austria or other Schengen-country is entitled to travel in other Schengen-countries for a maximum of 90 days within a 6 months period (i.e. the maximum validity of the Austrian visa D).
Note: Visa Service Centres only accept application for type D visa in order to receive the Residence Permit in Austria documents for which were already submitted at Embassy of Austria in advance. For the rest of visa types as well as for additional information you need to address directly at the Embassy of Austria in Moscow
