As per instructions received from the South African Consulate in Mumbai, applications fulfilling all the documents mentioned in the checklist will be accepted at VFS.
Applicants with incomplete documents will be asked to fulfil the missing documents and submit the application during the operational hours.

Please note: - In some cases personal appearance may be required at the South African High Commission, Delhi and the Consulate General of the Republic of South Africa, Mumbai prior to a decision being taken on your application. The VFS Visa Application Centre shall assist you to take an appointment for the same.

- Passport, (valid for at least 30 days after the intended stay/departure date from South Africa; at least Two unused/blank visa pages)
- Fully completed visa application form – 11 (DHA-84) – must be completed in black ink and block letters.
- Application form-11 (DHA-84) must be signed by the applicant and signature should match the signature on the passport.
- Proof of funds (Last 03 month’s bank statement signed and stamped by the bank with a balance of South African Currency R 3000 or equivalent in INR for Delhi and Mumbai
- Applicant needs to provide bank statement of the person who will bear the expenses of the traveller and the covering / invitation letter should clearly mention the same, if the bank statement is from South Africa in that case stamp & signature from SA bank and SA police would require or if bank statement is from India then Indian Bank stamp & signature would be required.
- Incase Indian company is bearing the cost of the traveller in that case we would need company bank statement with bank stamp and signature. Or if South African company is taking the responsibility of the traveller in that case south African company bank statement would be required with SA Police & SA Bank stamp and signature.
- South African Bank statements for the last three months should be certified by SA bank as well as South African police.
- Invitation/confirmation for/of medical appointment from private medical institution/practitioner (medical treatment not allowed at public/government medical facilities). The letter must include physical/street address, as well as contact details of the Medical facility/Doctor and name designation and signature
- Vaccination certificate, (yellow fever) If applicant will travel through or stay in yellow fever belt. For the latest Yellow Fever Policy please click here
- Copies of passport bio-data pages (photo page and address/parents page (INDIAN PASSPORTS)
- Two recent (not older than 30 days/1 month) passport size, (35mm x 45mm of the picture) photographs

Photo Specifications
- The photograph must be in color.
- It should be without border.
- It should have a white background only.
- It should have a close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph.
- It should be in sharp focus and clean.
- It should be of high quality with no ink marks and creases.
- The photograph must show you looking directly at the camera.
- It should be 3.5 cm X 4.5 cm.
- It should show your skin tone naturally.
- It should have appropriate brightness and contrast.
- The photograph should be a recent one not more than 1 month old.
- It is to be taken without headgear.
- Photograph can be taken with headgear, after consideration on case to case basis if the applicant wears headgear on religious grounds. The main characteristics of the face must be apparent from the photograph. Chin, nose, eyes, ears and eyebrows must not be covered; the forehead should be uncovered to the extent that the shape of the face is apparent. Teeth should not be visible.
- It should be without hat/cap.
- The photograph should not have any staple marks.
- Scanned & color photocopies would NOT be accepted.

- Required original Indian bank statement on bank letterhead paper with stamp and signature and NO Passbook, NO e-statements, NO Net banking copies will be accepted

- Applications for short term work visitor’s visa, also known as section 11(2) visitor’s visa, Applicants are expected to comply with the requirement outlined (checklist) on page 134 and page 136 of the DHA 84 application form
- Must submit a recently attested/certified (within 3 months) copy of South African ID or Foreign passport with valid visa of host company representative.
Note: The person who signs the invitation letter i.e. HR or Company Executive needs to provide a Valid attested Photo ID (latest 3months) copy by Commissioner of oaths.

- Incase Indian company is bearing the cost of the traveler in that case we would need company bank statement with bank stamp and signature. Or if South African company is taking the responsibility of the traveller in that case South African company bank statement would be required with SA Police & SA Bank stamp and signature.
- South African Bank statements for the last three months should be certified by SA bank as well as South African police.
- Letter of invitation from the South African organizers/hosts/companies stating the name, passport number of applicant as well as purpose and duration of visit. Letter must have the physical address, as well as contact details of the host and host’s/authorized signature’s name, designation and signature (Host ID copy attested by commissioner of OATHS needs to be submitted if required by SAHC). Invitation letter must be on institution/organization letterhead.

Photo Specifications
- The photograph must be in color.
- It should be without border.
- It should have a white background only.
- It should have a close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph.
- It should be in sharp focus and clean.
- It should be of high quality with no ink marks and creases.
- The photograph must show you looking directly at the camera.
- It should be 3.5 cm X 4.5 cm.
- It should show your skin tone naturally.
- It should have appropriate brightness and contrast.
- The photograph should be a recent one not more than 1 month old.
- It is to be taken without headgear.
- Photograph can be taken with headgear, after consideration on case to case basis if the applicant wears headgear on religious grounds. The main characteristics of the face must be apparent from the photograph. Chin, nose, eyes, ears and eyebrows must not be covered; the forehead should be uncovered to the extent that the shape of the face is apparent. Teeth should not be visible.
- It should be without hat/cap.
- The photograph should not have any staple marks.
- Scanned & color photocopies would NOT be accepted.

Notes:-
Minor child applying for dependent visa where in inviter parent is in South Africa then they have to visit either Department of Home Affairs office or South African Police station in South Africa to get the Parental Consent Affidavit form attested. Once attestation is done they have to send clear scan attested copy to the parent available in India. During the time of submission at VFS that copy should be attached as part of the minor child application (mandatory). Once submission is done the other parent available in India does not need to visit Consulate to carry out the procedure.
Minors who apply for a South African visa at VFS service-point shall be required to submit the attested copy of Parental Consent Affidavit less than 4 months old as part of the application.
If minor child accompanied by someone other than a parent and both parent present in India then for Parental Consent Affidavit procedure both parents have to mandatorily visit South Africa Consulate Mumbai from Monday to Thursday between 9:00 to 12:00 before coming for submission at VFS. Once attestation is done original should be kept for their records and copy must be submitted as part of minor child application.
If unabridged birth certificate is in local language than English translation affidavit must be produce along with local language unabridged birth certificate.

Two types of applicants/travelers can be distinguished for the purpose of the film industry. Those applying/travelling to do oversight roles/functions (oversight applicants) and those who conduct work (specialists’ applicants).The projected duration of film production in the Republic of South Africa will generally determine the category of visa to be applied for.
Oversight Applicants/Travelers
The oversight applicants are required to submit applications for a visitor’s visa for the period not exceeding 90 days.
- Requirements for oversight applicant - three months
- Dully completed and signed DHA 84 application form

Long Term Multiple Entries Port of Entry Visa for Business Executives
The Minister of Home Affairs approved the issuance of port of entry visa to Indian passport holder business executives. Business executives may be issued, by South African Mission, with a port of entry visa for the duration not exceeding 10 years and for a period not exceeding 30 days on each visit.
Requirements for Business Executive Port of entry visitor’s visa
- Dully completed and signed DHA 84 application form
- Passport valid not less than 30 days after the intended date of departure.
- Flight itinerary/confirmed reservation
- Valid letters stating / confirming purpose duration of visit
- Applicant’s 3 months recently certified copy of bank statement with proof of available funds.
- Applicant needs to provide bank statement of the person who will bear the expenses of the traveler and the covering / invitation letter should clearly mention the same, if the bank statement is from South Africa in that case stamp & signature from SA bank and SA police would require or if bank statement is from India then Indian Bank stamp & signature would be required.
- Incase Indian company is bearing the cost of the traveler in that case we would need company bank statement with bank stamp and signature. Or if South African company is taking the responsibility of the traveler in that case South African company bank statement would be required with SA Police & SA Bank stamp and signature.
- South African Bank statements for the last three months should be certified by SA bank as well as South African police.

Overview
If you are a student and wish to study in South Africa you can apply for a study visa by completing Form BI-1738.
Visas issued for studies at higher education and training institution shall be issued for duration of the course, but not exceeding four years;
Visas issued for studies at school shall be valid for the duration of the studies; provided that the duration for studies at the primary school shall not exceed eight years and for secondary school shall not exceed five years.

- proof of consent for the intended stay from both parents, or where applicable, from the parent or legal guardian who has been issued with a court order granting full or specific parental responsibilities and rights or legal guardianship of the learner
- An official letter from the educational institution, where you intend to study, confirming provisional acceptance and the duration of the course.
- Proof of medical cover renewed annually for the period of study with a medical scheme registered in terms of the Medical Schemes Act
- An undertaking by the parents or legal guardian that the learner will have medical cover for the full duration of the period of study.
- Proof of Total fees payment made to the institute where the applicant is going to study in South Africa.
- Proof of Insurance should be for the entire duration of studies or proof that the Insurance is renewable.
- Applicant needs to provide Educational qualification certificates with notary.
- If you are 18 years and older, a police clearance certificate from each country in which you resided for 12 months or longer since the age of 18 years is required. This should be submitted with the application

- Within 30 days, notify the Director-General when the applicant has completed his or her studies or requires to extend such period of study

Photo Specifications
- The photograph must be in color.
- It should be without border.
- It should have a white background only.
- It should have a close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph.
- It should be in sharp focus and clean.
- It should be of high quality with no ink marks and creases.
- The photograph must show you looking directly at the camera.
- It should be 3.5 cm X 4.5 cm.
- It should show your skin tone naturally.
- It should have appropriate brightness and contrast.
- The photograph should be a recent one not more than 1 month old.
- It is to be taken without headgear.
- Photograph can be taken with headgear, after consideration on case to case basis if the applicant wears headgear on religious grounds. The main characteristics of the face must be apparent from the photograph. Chin, nose, eyes, ears and eyebrows must not be covered, the forehead should be uncovered to the extent that the shape of the face is apparent. Teeth should not be visible.
- It should be without hat/cap.
- The photograph should not have any staple marks.
- Scanned & color photocopies would NOT be accepted.
Processing Time
The timelines given by South African High Commission; New Delhi & South Africa Consulate General; Mumbai for the processing of each application is minimum 90 days from the day of submission at Visa Application Centers.

Overview
As an immediate family member of a South African citizen or permanent resident you may be issued a relative's permit once the financial means as contemplated in the Immigration Act, 2002 (Act No. 13 of 2002) have been complied with. Relative’s permits are valid for a minimum period of 24 months and may be extended.
For a spouse and/or a dependent child of a South African citizen or permanent resident the permit is issued free of charge, whilst there is a fee for other relatives wishing to join their family members in South Africa.

- The salary and benefits of the applicant are not inferior to the average salary and benefits of citizens or employees occupying similar positions in the Republic.
- A contract of employment stipulating the conditions of employment and signed by both the employer and the applicant in line with the Labour standards in the Republic and is made conditional upon the general work visa being approved.
- Proof of qualifications evaluated by SAQA and translated by a sworn translator into one of the official languages of the Republic.
- Full particulars of the employer, including, where applicable, proof of registration of the business with the Commission on Intellectual Property and Companies (CIPC)
- 20. An undertaking by the employer to inform the Director-General upon the employee no longer being in the employ of such employer or when he or she is employed in a different capacity or role

Photo Specifications
- The photograph must be in color.
- It should be without border.
- It should have a white background only.
- It should have a close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph.
- It should be in sharp focus and clean.
- It should be of high quality with no ink marks and creases.
- The photograph must show you looking directly at the camera.
- It should be 3.5 cm X 4.5 cm.
- It should show your skin tone naturally.
- It should have appropriate brightness and contrast.
- The photograph should be a recent one not more than 1 month old.
- It is to be taken without headgear.
- Photograph can be taken with headgear, after consideration on case to case basis if the applicant wears headgear on religious grounds. The main characteristics of the face must be apparent from the photograph. Chin, nose, eyes, ears and eyebrows must not be covered, the forehead should be uncovered to the extent that the shape of the face is apparent. Teeth should not be visible.
- It should be without hat/cap.
- The photograph should not have any staple marks.
- Scanned & color photocopies would NOT be accepted.
Processing Time
The timelines given by South African High Commission; New Delhi & South Africa Consulate General; Mumbai for the processing of each application is minimum 90 days from the day of submission at Visa Application Centers.

- Applicant needs to provide bank statement of the person who will bear the expenses of the traveler and the covering / invitation letter should clearly mention the same, if the bank statement is from South Africa in that case stamp & signature from SA bank and SA police would require or if bank statement is from India then Indian Bank stamp & signature would be required.
- Incase Indian company is bearing the cost of the traveler in that case we would need company bank statement with bank stamp and signature. Or if South African company is taking the responsibility of the traveler in that case South African company bank statement would be required with SA Police & SA Bank stamp and signature.

- Police clearance certificates in respect of applicants 18 years and older, in respect of all countries where person resided one year or longer since having attained the age of 18 (PCC from Regional Passport Office)
- A letter from the employer/company abroad confirming that you will be transferred to a branch/affiliate company in South Africa
- A letter from the South African company where you will work, confirming the transfer from the parent/affiliated company abroad. This letter should specify the occupation and capacity in which you will be employed and should also confirm that the maximum duration of employment will not exceed 4 years
- An undertaking from the employer that -
- that you will leave South Africa once the 4-year period comes to an end confirming that your passport is valid
- that you will be employed in the position for which the permit is issued
- A written undertaking by the employer accepting responsibility for the costs related to the deportation of the applicant and his or her dependent family members, should it become necessary
- The foreigner's contract of employment with the company abroad valid for a period of not less than six months
- Letter from the company abroad confirming that the applicant shall be transferred to a branch, subsidiary or an affiliate of that company in South Africa
- A letter from the branch, subsidiary or an affiliate in South Africa confirming the transfer of the foreigner and specifying the occupation and capacity in which the foreigner shall be employed.
- An undertaking from the employer that -
- He foreigner shall only be employed in the specific position for which the visa has been issued
- The foreigner will, at all times, comply with the provisions of the Act and conditions of his or her visa and undertakes to immediately notify the Director-General if the employee refuses to comply with the provisions of the Act or conditions of the visa;
- A plan is developed for the transfer of skills to a South African citizen or permanent
- An employment contract with the company abroad
- Applicant needs to provide South African and Indian company registration.
Medical and radiological reports must have the address of doctor or clinic along with signatures & stamp from doctor

- The affidavit where a spousal relationship to a South African citizen or resident is applicable, as well as documentation proving cohabitation and the extent to which the related financial responsibilities are shared by the parties and setting out the particulars of children in the spousal relationship

- The foreigner's contract of employment with the company abroad valid for a period of not less than six months
- Letter from the company abroad confirming that the applicant shall be transferred to a branch, subsidiary or an affiliate of that company in South Africa
- A letter from the branch, subsidiary or an affiliate in South Africa confirming the transfer of the foreigner and specifying the occupation and capacity in which the foreigner shall be employed
- An undertaking from the employer that -
- He foreigner shall only be employed in the specific position for which the visa has been issued
- The foreigner will, at all times, comply with the provisions of the Act and conditions of his or her visa and undertakes to immediately notify the Director-General if the employee refuses to comply with the provisions of the Act or conditions of the visa;
- A plan is developed for the transfer of skills to a South African citizen or permanent
- An undertaking from the branch, subsidiary or an affiliate in South Africa to reimburse the Department any costs incurred in relation to the deportation of the holder of an intra-company transfer work visa and any of his or her family members
- Applicant needs to provide South African Initial contact details from SA company on letterhead.

- It should show your skin tone naturally.
- It should have appropriate brightness and contrast.

- A letter from the foreign state institution or learning institution of the foreign state confirming the particulars of the applicant, the applicant's enrolment with a learning institution abroad, and the date on which the program me
- In the case of a program me of cultural, economic or social exchange, organized or administered by an organ of state or a learning institution, in conjunction with a learning institution or a foreign state institution:
- Proof of a valid return air ticket or written undertaking by the organ of state, learning institution or employer accepting responsibility for the return or deportation costs of the applicant, as they may be

- A medical report completed on prescribed form BI- 811 (Applicable in Delhi) Medical Report issued by registered medical practioner on letterhead with regard to applicant's general state of health. Report not older than 6 months at time of submission.
- A radiological report completed on prescribed form BI- 806 (Applicable in Delhi) Radiological Report issued by a registered radiologist on letterhead certifying that the applicant has been examined by him or her with regard to active pulmonary TB signs. Report not older than 6 months at time of submission. Not applicable to under 12 years and pregnant women.
- Marriage certificate or in the case of a foreign spousal relationship, proof of official recognition thereof issued by the authorities of the country concerned if available
- The affidavit where a spousal relationship to a South African citizen or resident is applicable, as well as documentation proving cohabitation and the extent to which the related financial responsibilities are shared by the parties and setting out the particulars of children in the spousal relationship
- Divorce decree, where applicable
- Court order granting full or specific parental responsibilities and rights, where applicable
- Death certificate, in respect of late spouse, where applicable
- Written consent from both parents and court order granting full parental responsibilities and rights parent, where applicable
- Proof of legal adoption where applicable
- Legal separation order, where applicable
- Police clearance certificates in respect of applicants 18 years and older, in respect of all countries where person resided one year or longer since having attained the age of 18 (PCC from Regional Passport Office)
- Proof of a valid return air ticket or written undertaking by the organ of state, learning institution or employer accepting responsibility for the return or deportation costs of the applicant, as the case may be
- Proof of medical cover for the duration of the exchange period with a medical scheme registered in terms of the Medical Schemes Act, 1998 (Act No 131 of 1998)
- A letter from the Department of Basic Education, or Higher Education and Training, or the learning institution in the Republic confirming that it is responsible for organizing or administering the existence of the program me, outlining the activities, terms and conditions and duration thereof; and accepting full responsibility for the student whilst he or she is in the South Africa
- A letter from the foreign state institution or learning institution of the foreign state confirming the particulars of the applicant, the applicant's enrolment with a learning institution abroad, and the date on which the program me
- In the case of a program me of cultural, economic or social exchange, organized or administered by an organ of state or a learning institution, in conjunction with a learning institution or a foreign state institution:
- Proof of a valid return air ticket or written undertaking by the organ of state, learning institution or employer accepting responsibility for the return or deportation costs of the applicant, as they may be
- Proof of medical cover for the duration of the exchange period with a medical scheme registered in terms of the Medical Schemes Act, 1998 (Act No. 131 of 1998)
