Accessibility

To assist wheelchair users and customers with restricted mobility, all Visa Application Centres are equipped with access ramps. Customers who have a disability or specific accessibility requirements are encouraged to bring someone to help them. Lifts are also available where necessary. Visa Application Centre staff are happy to assist customers with a disability or restricted mobility.

Security Regulations

  1. Please note that access to the Visa Application Centre is restricted to visa applicants and persons seeking information about the Canada visa application process. The only exceptions to this policy are:

    • Minor children, who must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This cannot be a member of the VAC staff.

    • Elderly persons or those who require assistance due to a medical or physical condition. If you require assistance, please advise security or VAC staff when you arrive at the VAC.

  2. Mobile phones are allowed in the VAC where permitted, but they must remain in silent or vibrate mode at all times. Please note you may be asked to switch on your mobile phone before entering the VAC. Devices that cannot be switched on are not allowed. You must put your mobile phone away when receiving VAC services.

  3. Headphones, headsets, earphones, laptops and tablets may be carried within personal bags and cannot be used inside the VAC. You must put these items away when receiving VAC services.

  4. Under no circumstances is any photography, video or audio recording permitted.

  5. You may bring one personal airline cabin size bag (55 cm x 35 cm x 20 cm / 21.5” x 13.5” x 8") per person into the VAC. Larger bags are not allowed and must be stored elsewhere.

  6. Smoking materials such as lighters, matches, electronic cigarettes and vapes are strictly forbidden and are not permitted in any VAC building, including in or around emergency exit areas, building entrances and exits.

  7. For security reasons, the following items are not permitted inside the VAC:

    • Sharp objects such as scissors, pen knives, tools or similar.

    • Weapons, weapon-like objects, or any explosive/flammable materials including aerosols, gas and fuel.

    • Communications devices such as walkie-talkie radios, pagers or broadcast equipment.

    • Other items may be prohibited based on security staff discretion.

The Visa Application Centre cannot store prohibited items. You must make your own arrangements for the safe storage of these items.

Some Visa Application Centres may offer cloakrooms or lockers for a fee. These services cannot be used to store prohibited items. Please check with the VAC before you visit.

Search Procedure

In the interest of safety and security, we reserve the right to conduct bag searches and personal searches of applicants and visitors using x-ray scanners, metal detectors and physical searches, where appropriate. Private, gender-specific search areas may be available where possible and appropriate.

Polite Notice

Our staff have the right to work without fear of abuse or intimidation. Threatening or abusive words or behaviour towards our staff will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
