Short stay visa
All applicants must fully comply with relevant documentation required for respective visa categories under Short Stay Visa and Long Stay Visa. Incomplete applications may not be accepted.
For Long Stay Visas (stay more than 90 days) and Short Stay Visas may submit their application at the South Africa Visa Application Centre in Tehran.
Business

Overview
A Business Visa is required if during any portion of the visit applicant intends to conduct business or commercial activities. E.g.; Meetings, Conference, Training Visas, Trade Fairs, etc; such visas can only be issued to travelers not being paid for work by an entity within South Africa. If the applicant intends to undertake paid work in South Africa he/she will need to obtain a work permit.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Please, bear in mind that failing to meet any of the following requirements will also render the application incomplete:

- Completed Visa application Form (BI84) Form 11 in BLACK ink only.
- Two recent colored photograph
- Must be a clear copy, not older than 6 months, size 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm, white background
- Passport
- Must be valid for no less than 3 months after the expiry of intended visit to South Africa and containing at least 2 blank visa pages (one to endorse/stamp the visa and the other one for entry/exit stamps.
- Passport copies of page 2 and 3 & previous South Africa visa copies and copy of Bio Pages of previous passport (included South Africa Visa) (all copies should be in A4 format)
- (Proof of Employment) No-objection letter from employer or sponsor (Original)
- It must be signed and stamped; dated/issued on the current month of should be dated not more than a month from the date of application.
- The letter must confirm the applicant’s name , passport number, current job position, amount of salary, start of work date , travel dates, exact purpose of travel and “no objection” to leave of absence
from the sponsor/employer for the said travel. Full contact details of the company/employer (e.g. physical address, telephone number, name,and Job title) must be indicated in the letter.
- For self-sponsored, Officially translated valid trade license.
- For Doctors:valid medical license officially translated.
- For lawyers:valid lawyer license officially translated.
- “AFFIDAVIT FORM” must be filled in BLACK INK ONLY by BOTH parents/guardian and must be signed before the Commissioner of Oath. A copy of parent’s passport should also be submitted
- Official consent letter from parent that is not travelling (with dates and destination matching those of the application)
- Proof of guardianship or custody – accompanied by person other than parent
- Officially translated Birth certificate (contains MFA & justice stamps)
- Proof of adoption – adopted minor
- Copy of Marriage certificate
- Copy of South African ID or South African passport of the spouse (Certified by the Police Authority)
- Letter from both Iran and South African host company
- Both letters must confirm the applicant’s name, passport number, travel dates, exact purpose of the travel and financial undertaking.
- Both letters must be signed (with the signatory name and designation) and stamped. Also, it must be dated/issued on the current month or not more than a month, from the date of application.
- Signatory for the South African Company need to provide the South African ID copy certified by the police Authority
- Both letters must have the company’s full contact details (e.g. physical address and telephone numbers).
- If the financial undertaking is not indicated in the letters, the applicant must submit his/her own latest three (3) months personal bank transaction (stamped by the bank).For self-sponsored, valid trade license copy
- Ticket
- Proof of two way Air tickets (provisional). Proof of Domestic flight/s is also required, if the applicant is travelling from one city to another.
- Accommodation
- If staying in a hotel, a proof of confirmed or provisional booking is required
- If staying with a family/relative/friend/colleague, a copy of the following from the SA host are required
- Invitation letter (typed, signed and must be dated/issued on the current month or should be dated not more than a month from the date of application). Bio information of guest should be mentioned in invitation letter , dates ,duration of stay , the physical home address and contact details of the SA host should be indicated in the letter.
- Proof of address (e.g. Utility bills, Lease of Contract, Tax invoice, etc.) as indicated in the invitation letter.
- If the host is a South African, a copy of South African ID book or passport is required. If the host is not a South African, a copy of passport and residence/permit/visa copy of the host in South Africa is required ( All Documents should be certified by Police Authority)
- For parents and siblings visiting either their son/daughter/siblings in South Africa, and will be staying with them whilst in South Africa, the following additional documents
are required:
- Copy of son/daughter/sibling’s full birth certificate (In English only)
- Copy of son/daughter/sibling’s passport (Certified by the Police Authority )
- Copy of visa/temporary residence/permanent residence permit issued/granted to them (Certified by the police Authority)
- Proof of financial means.
- Applicant’s latest three (3) months banks statement(Transaction)(in A4 format). ONLY original Stamped bank satatement(Transaction) issued not more than 10days by a bank (English Only) are acceptable.
- if the applicant submit the bank satatement(Transaction) of the company, the following additional documents are required:
- Letter from the company/sponsor which states that the company has no objection to use the bank account/satatement(Transaction) by the applicant, to cover his/her travel expenses in South Africa. The letter must be signed by ALL partners/owners of the company (as shown in the trade license).
- Copy of Trade License Or Gazette notice translated in to English
- 3 months latest bank satatement(Transaction) of the company (stamped by the bank in A4 format)
Please note:- Non-Iranian nationals can apply for a South African visa if they have a long-term Iranian residence permit in their passport.
- All visa applicants, who are applying for the first time, must only submit the application a MONTH or closer to the date of intended travel to South Africa.
- All visa/permit applications must be applied “In-person” by the applicant ONLY.
- It takes 10 working days to process the visa.
- Original passport cannot be retrieved until application has been processed.
- Consular section will only accept / process complete visa applications – it is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that he or she submits a complete application.
- Cabin Crew and Pilot can withdraw their passports 2 WORKING DAYS after the application submission.

Photographs
Photographs submitted for identity documents and passports must comply to the following specifications:
- Length - 45mm
- Width - 35mm
- The background of the photograph shall be plain and free of shadows and shall not have a white lining
- Only the head and shoulders of the person concerned shall be included in the photograph and the head from the chin to the top of the hair shall not be smaller 22mm and not larger than 25mm
Head Coverings:
- Are not permitted except for religious reasons, but your facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of your face must be clearly shown.
- The person concerned shall be photographed without any head-gear or veil, and any other additions to the face which tend to alter the natural likeness shall be removed. (The Director-General may exempt any person or any category of persons from any of these requirements.)
Glasses and Head Covers
If you wear glasses:
- The photograph must show your eyes clearly with no flash reflection off the glasses.
- No dark tinted lenses or heavy frames
- Make sure that the frames do not cover any part of your eyes.
- Spectacles may be worn provided that the lenses do not make the eyes invisible. Spectacles with dark lenses may be worn if the eyes will appear distorted without them or if the person is blind
Expression:
The Photograph must:
- Show you looking at the Camera with a neutral expression and mouth closed
- No obvious grinning, frowning or raised eyebrows.
- The face shall be a recognizable likeness of the person and the head, hair, eyebrows, eyes, nose and moustache or beard, if any, shall be sharply and clearly defined
- Neither the photograph nor the copies thereof may be defaced by holes, pencil or ink marks or in any other manner

from the sponsor/employer for the said travel. Full contact details of the company/employer (e.g. physical address, telephone number, name,and Job title) must be indicated in the letter.
- For self-sponsored, valid trade officially translated license.
- For Doctors:valid medical license officially translated.
- For lawyers:valid lawyers license officially translated.
- “AFFIDAVIT FORM” must be filled in BLACK INK ONLY by BOTH parents/guardian and must be signed before the Commissioner of Oath. A copy of parent’s passport should also be submitted
- Official consent letter from parent that is not travelling (with dates and destination of matching those of application
- Proof of guardianship or custody – accompanied by person other than parent
- Officially Translated Birth certificate (contains MFA & justice stamps)

- Proof of address (e.g. Utility bills, Lease of Contract, Tax invoice, etc.) as indicated in the invitation letter.
- If the host is a South African, a copy of South African ID book or passport is required. If the host is not a South African, a copy of passport and residence/permit/visa copy of the host in South Africa is required ( All Documents should be certified by Police Authority)
- For parents and siblings visiting either their son/daughter/siblings in South Africa, and will be staying with them whilst in South Africa, the following additional
documents are required:
- Copy of son/daughter/sibling’s full birth certificate (In English only)
- Copy of son/daughter/sibling’s passport (Certified by the Police Authority )
- Copy of visa/temporary residence/permanent residence permit issued/granted to them (Certified by the police Authority)
- Proof of financial means.
- Applicant’s latest three (3) months banks statement(transaction)(in A4 format). ONLY original Stamped bank statement(transaction) issued not more than 10days by a bank (English Only) are acceptable.
- Should the applicant submit the bank statement(transaction) of the company, the following additional documents are required:
- Letter from the company/sponsor which states that the company has no objection to use the bank account/statement(transaction) by the applicant, to cover his/her travel expenses in South Africa. The letter must be signed by ALL partners/owners of the company (as shown in the trade license).

- Only the head and shoulders of the person concerned shall be included in the photograph and the head from the chin to the top of the hair shall not be smaller 22mm and not larger than 25mm
Head Coverings:
- Are not permitted except for religious reasons, but your facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of your face must be clearly shown.
- The person concerned shall be photographed without any head-gear or veil, and any other additions to the face which tend to alter the natural likeness shall be removed. (The Director-General may exempt any person or any category of persons from any of these requirements.)
Glasses and Head Covers
If you wear glasses:
- The photograph must show your eyes clearly with no flash reflection off the glasses.
- No dark tinted lenses or heavy frames
- Make sure that the frames do not cover any part of your eyes.
- Spectacles may be worn provided that the lenses do not make the eyes invisible. Spectacles with dark lenses may be worn if the eyes will appear distorted without them or if the person is blind
Expression:
The Photograph must:

- Official invitation letter specifying applican’s name , passport number , sport event information along with relevant signature and stamp
- Copy of ID or passport of the signatory (Certified by the Police Authority)
- Ticket
- Proof of two way Air tickets (provisional). Proof of Domestic flight/s is also required, if the applicant is travelling from one city to another.
- Accommodation
- If staying in a hotel, a proof of provisional booking is required
- If staying with a family/relative/friend/colleague, a copy of the following from the SA host are required
- Invitation letter (typed, signed and must be dated/issued on the current month or should be dated not more than a month from the date of application). Bio information of guest should be mentioned in invitation letter , dates, duration of stay,The physical home address and contact details of the SA host should be indicated in the letter.
- Proof of address (e.g. Utility bills, Lease of Contract, Tax invoice, etc.) as indicated in the invitation letter.
- If the host is a South African, a copy of South African ID book or passport is required. If the host is not a South African, a copy of passport and residence/permit/visa copy of the host in South Africa is required ( All Documents should be certified by Police Authority)
- For parents and siblings visiting either their son/daughter/siblings in South Africa, and will be staying with them whilst in South Africa, the following additional
documents are required:
- Copy of son/daughter/sibling’s full birth certificate (In English only)
- Copy of son/daughter/sibling’s passport (Certified by the Police Authority )
- Copy of visa/temporary residence/permanent residence permit issued/granted to them (Certified by the police Authority)
- Proof of financial means.
- Applicant’s latest three (3) months banks statement (transaction). ONLY original stamped bank statement (transaction) issued not more than 10days by a bank (English Only) are acceptable.

Should the applicant submit the bank statement (transaction) of the company, the following additional documents are required:
- Letter from the company/sponsor which states that the company has no objection to use the bank account/statement (transaction) by the applicant, to cover his/her travel expenses in South Africa. The letter must be signed by ALL partners/owners of the company (as shown in the trade license).
- Copy of Trade License Or Gazette notice translated in to English
- 3 months latest bank statement (transaction) of the company (stamped by the bank in A4 format)
Please note:
- Non-Iranian nationals can apply for a South African visa if they have a long-term Iranian residence permit in their passport.
- All visa applicants, who are applying for the first time, must only submit the application a MONTH or closer to the date of intended travel to South Africa.
- All visa/permit applications must be applied “In-person” by the applicant ONLY.
- It takes 10 working days to process the visa.
- Original passport cannot be retrieved until application has been processed.
- Consular section will only accept / process complete visa applications – it is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that he or she submits a complete application.
- Cabin Crew and Pilot can withdraw their passports 2 WORKING DAYS after the application submission.

Photographs
Photographs submitted for identity documents and passports must comply to the following specifications:
- Length - 45mm
- Width - 35mm
- The background of the photograph shall be plain and free of shadows and shall not have a white lining
- Only the head and shoulders of the person concerned shall be included in the photograph and the head from the chin to the top of the hair shall not be smaller 22mm and not larger than 25mm
Head Coverings:
- Are not permitted except for religious reasons, but your facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of your face must be clearly shown.
- The person concerned shall be photographed without any head-gear or veil, and any other additions to the face which tend to alter the natural likeness shall be removed. (The Director-General may exempt any person or any category of persons from any of these requirements.)
Glasses and Head Covers
If you wear glasses:
- The photograph must show your eyes clearly with no flash reflection off the glasses.
- No dark tinted lenses or heavy frames
- Make sure that the frames do not cover any part of your eyes.
- Spectacles may be worn provided that the lenses do not make the eyes invisible. Spectacles with dark lenses may be worn if the eyes will appear distorted without them or if the person is blind
Expression:
The Photograph must:
- Show you looking at the Camera with a neutral expression and mouth closed
- No obvious grinning, frowning or raised eyebrows.
- The face shall be a recognizable likeness of the person and the head, hair, eyebrows, eyes, nose and moustache or beard, if any, shall be sharply and clearly defined
- Neither the photograph nor the copies thereof may be defaced by holes, pencil or ink marks or in any other manner
