Long-Term One-Entry Visa (D)

Overview
Long-term (type D) Ukrainian visas are issued as a multiple entry visas for 90 days(unless otherwise stipulated by legislation or international treaties of Ukraine) within which applicants are to enter Ukraine and apply to local offices of the State Migration Service of Ukraine for a temporary residence permit.

- staff of foreign states’ missions to international organisations headquartered in Ukraine who are covered with diplomatic privileges and immunities as well as their families’ members;
- heads of foreign official delegations, their accompanying staff visiting Ukraine upon an invitation of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (the Parliament), the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine;
- Ukraine’s honorary consular officials;
- persons travelling to Ukraine to implement international technical assistance projects upon an invitation of Ukraine’s state authority/entity/organisation which is a recipient of such international technical assistance projects;
- staff of foreign emergency / rescue authorities who enter Ukraine in order to aid with elimination of the aftermath of an emergency / accident upon an invitation of Ukraine’s Emergencies / Accidents Service;
- military personnel visiting Ukraine with official purpose upon invitation of the relevant ministry / other central executive authority;
- election observers delegated by foreign states and international organisations to observe presidential, parliamentary, local elections / national referendums upon lists provided to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Ukraine’s Central Election Committee;
- other persons visiting Ukraine in order to implement projects in foreign policy / humanitarian aid areas upon the invitation of the head of the relevant authority and confirmation of the Ministry of Finance.

Processing Time
Usually decision on a visa application is made within a period of 10 working days, 14 calendar days when application received at the Ukrainian mission in Canberra, Australia. It is advised to submit visa application at least 30 calendar days before the intended visit. A visa application cannot be submitted earlier than three months before the intended date of travel.
In some cases, which are exclusively determined by the Embassy, processing time can be extended up to 30 working days.
Urgent processing of visa application for Australian citizens may take up to 5 working days (7 calendar days). The Consular section does not guarantee that the decision will be taken in the frame of terms, as occurrence of necessity of additional consultations is possible. Urgent procedure also implies that all the supporting documents are present and the application DOES NOT needs more information for decision taking.

Short-Term Visa (C)
C type (short term) visas are issued in cases where a foreigner/stateless person intends to stay in Ukraine for up to 90 days (within every 180 days).
C type visas are issued as single / double / multiple entry visas valid for 6 months or another period depending on supporting documents but cannot be issued for more than a 5 year-term.

Tourist Purpose

Tourist visa is granted for those applicants who intend to visit Ukraine for tourism and sightseeing without having an invitation from a Ukrainian referent.

The Consular Office accepts payment of visa fee via bank deposit to the account at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia - BSB 062900,account No.10415582, account name ‘Embassy of Ukraine’ (SWIFT - CTBAAU2S, address - London Circuit & Payment reference is applicants surname; separate Ainsley Ave, Canberra, ACT, 2601, Australia). Payment should be done for each visa application. Money orders, personal cheques or cheques with mark “DRAFT” are not accepted. Payment receipt to be submitted with application form.
Fees are not refunded in case of a visa refusal.
These categories of applicants are issued with visas upon a zero fee:
- children under 6 years;
- persons of Ukrainian descent upon a Certificate of a person of Ukrainian descent, as well as their spouse and children;
- persons travelling to Ukraine with official purpose and holding diplomatic/service passport;
- staff of foreign diplomatic missions/consulates to Ukraine and their family members;
- staff of international organisations, their branches/offices in Ukraine and their family members;
- staff of foreign states’ missions to international organisations headquartered in Ukraine who are covered with diplomatic privileges and immunities as well as their families’ members;
- heads of foreign official delegations, their accompanying staff visiting Ukraine upon an invitation of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (the Parliament), the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine;
- Ukraine’s honorary consular officials;
- persons travelling to Ukraine to implement international technical assistance projects upon an invitation of Ukraine’s state authority/entity/organisation which is a recipient of such international technical assistance projects;
- staff of foreign emergency / rescue authorities who enter Ukraine in order to aid with elimination of the aftermath of an emergency / accident upon an invitation of Ukraine’s Emergencies / Accidents Service;
- military personnel visiting Ukraine with official purpose upon invitation of the relevant ministry / other central executive authority;
- election observers delegated by foreign states and international organisations to observe presidential, parliamentary, local elections / national referendums upon lists provided to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Ukraine’s Central Election Committee;
- other persons visiting Ukraine in order to implement projects in foreign policy / humanitarian aid areas upon the invitation of the head of the relevant authority and confirmation of the Ministry of Finance.

Processing Time
Usually decision on a visa application is made within a period of 10 working days, 14 calendar days when application received at the Ukrainian mission in Canberra, Australia. It is advised to submit visa application at least 30 calendar days before the intended visit. A visa application cannot be submitted earlier than three months before the intended date of travel.
In some cases, which are exclusively determined by the Embassy, processing time can be extended up to 30 working days.
Urgent processing of visa application for New Zealand citizens may take up to 5 working days (7 calendar days). The Consular section does not guarantee that the decision will be taken in the frame of terms, as occurrence of necessity of additional consultations is possible. Urgent procedure also implies that all the supporting documents are present and the application DOES NOT needs more information for decision taking.

Overview
C type visas are issued as single / double / multiple entry visas valid for 6 months or another period depending on supporting documents but cannot be issued for more than a 5 year-term.

Documents Required
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS APPLICABALE FOR EVERY VISA TYPE
- A national passport, valid for at least three months after the expiration date of the requested visa and having at least 2 blank visa designated pages, not to be issued more than 10 years ago. Copies of travel documents (PASSPORT) are not accepted;
- Application form (application form have to be filled on-line (please apply online at http://visa.mfa.gov.ua). After completing forms prompted to save the file in .pdf format. This file have to be printed and signed);
- 1 photo - recent, passport-sized, resembling applicant's travel document photo;
- Payment of consular fee. Money transfer receipt for visa fee and a copy of it (payment reference is applicants surname, separate payment should be done for each visa application);
- Proof of the applicant’s financial sufficiency for the intended period of stay and return to the country of origin, or transit to a third country, or the possibility to legally obtain sufficient financial means on the territory of Ukraine, as required by the Rules for proving financial sufficiency of foreigners and stateless persons for entry to Ukraine, stay on the territory of Ukraine, transit through the territory of Ukraine and departure from Ukraine, and establishment of the amount of such sufficiency, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 4 December 2013 no.884. When multi-entry visa is requested, financial sufficiency for the first planned visit to Ukraine shall be considered. Holders of diplomatic or service passport shall be exempt from this requirement;
- Valid international travel or medical (health) insurance. Valid health insurance with coverage of at least 30,000 EUR or equivalent in other currency, unless otherwise stipulated by legislation or international treaties of Ukraine. When multi-entry visa is requested, availability of health insurance valid for the first intended visit to Ukraine shall be considered. Holders of diplomatic or service passport shall be exempt from this requirement;

Together with all items listed above the following documents, each hereinafter referred to as "the supporting document", related to the purpose of entry, must be submitted for visas (section “Visa types”).
If you submit a child's passport, it should be accompanied by a joint request of both parents with signatures certified by JP, Police, Notary Public and copy of the child’s certificate of birth.
Please note: The Consular office has full authority to evaluate and request more documents than those submitted by the applicant. The latter is hereby informed that submitting the aforementioned documents does not guarantee automatic issuance of the visa.
Documents specific to Transit Visas
One of the following:
Visa for another country (if required) and tickets;
or
Document confirming that passengers/cargo are to transit through Ukraine by car/coach;
or
International carrier license issued by the relevant authority of a foreign state;
Please note that applicants might be asked for additional documents by Ukraine’s visa officers (e.g. return flight tickets and other documents confirming applicants’ circumstances (to be defined by Ukraine’s visa officers of the relevant Embassy/Consulate General).
