Short Term
A visa is only intended to allow a foreign national to visit Austria for a limited period of time. The short stay C visas can are be submitted to all Visa Application Centres in Turkey: Istanbul (Altunizade and Beyoğlu), Ankara, Antalya, Bursa,Edirne, Gaziantep, Izmir, Trabzon.
There is no Jurisdiction for visa Submission, applicants can apply from all Application Centers in Turkey

Overview
The short stay schengen visas are handled by the Consulate General of Austria in Turkey. Applications with Short Term visas have to be submitted directly at the Consulate General (upon prior scheduled appointment).
Applicants will have to provide evidence that they fall under particular visa category.

Documents Required
List of supporting documents to be submitted by applicants for short stay visas in Turkey (Istanbul, Bursa)
Documents should not be older than 6 months.
- A Schengen visa application form: fully completed, dated and signed by the applicant.
- 2 passport sized (3.5 cms x 4.5 cms) colored photographs with white background taken recently. On the photograph, the applicant’s face- chin, forehead, nose, eyes, eyebrows and the mouth- should be clearly visible.
- A valid passport issued within last 10 years and an A4-sized photocopy (Copies of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 60th page and pages with Turkish Police stamp and the previous visas), ex-passports and their copies, if there are any.
- Certificate of travel medical insurance. It must state coverage for the Schengen area of any medical expense during the entire period of the visa applicant’s intended stay. Minimum coverage must amount to 30.000€
- If married, Certificate of Marriage original and copy. If with EU citizen or Austrian citizen married passport or ID card copy.

- C2 certificate (export permission).
- National and international driving licence of the driver.
- Invitation or business partnership certificate from a company in the EU.

- For cultural events or conferences:
- an invitation from the organiser of the event or/the contract concluded by the cultural service provider or/invitation to a creative work.
- For sporting events:
- invitation from the sports club/sports federation or/accreditation confirming the participation in the sport event.

- For study purpose
- invitation and/or guarantee according to national legislation (Note: there is further information and links to downloadable forms on the websites of Member States' embassies and consulates)
- For EU education, training, or research programmes:
- original of the invitation letter from the university or research centre
- letter from the Turkish National Agency (Centre for EU Education and Youth Programmes) or TÜBITAK identifying that the individual applying for visa is supported by an European Union Programme.
- The following documents regarding the applicant's personal situation shall be presented by either of the categories:
- If the applicant is employed as a teacher or professor
- letter from employer and/or approval for leave.

Photo Specifications
General
- The photograph for each visa applicant must be an un-mounted, full face photo, color photo as described below
- The photograph must have been taken within the last six months.
- Two photographs must be submitted.
Photo Size
The photo for each visa applicant submitted must measure:
- T35 mm x 45 mm with the head centered in the frame.
- The head (measured from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin) should measure at least 30 mm
Photo Appearance
- The photograph must be a full-face front view in which the visa applicant is facing the camera directly.
- The face should cover about 70-80 percent of the photo area.
- The photograph MUST be in color and have only a white or light background. Photos with dark, busy, or patterned backgrounds will not be accepted
- In general, the applicant's head, including both face and hair, should be shown from the crown of the head to the tip of the chin on top and bottom and from hairline side-to-side. It is preferable that ears be exposed
- Sunglasses or other wear, which detracts from the face, are not acceptable unless required for medical reasons (an eye patch, for example).
- A photograph depicting a person wearing a traditional facemask or veil that does not permit adequate identification is not acceptable.
Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete.

Processing Time
Usually, processing time for visa applications is 10 working days (starting from the time when the Embassy or Consulate received the application, not including the transportation time), counting from when all requested documents have been submitted. This period may be extended in specific cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is required, for example, when an applicant must come to an interview or submit additional documentation requested by the Embassy or Consulate. During certain times of the year, the processing time can be longer due to the high volume of applications. It is recommended to submit your visa application at least two weeks prior to date of travel date and if possible, even earlier ahead of the holiday period.
Please note that the application processing time and decisions on visa applications are the sole prerogative of the Embassy or Consulate. VFS Global has no role to play in these areas of the application process.

Tourism

Overview
Tourist visa is only intended to allow a foreign national to visit Austria for a limited period of time. This category of visa caters to people wishing to visit Austria for touristic purposes either through buying a tour via travel agency, or through self-bookings of tickets and hotel.
Applicants will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.
Schengen Visa
The Schengen visa is only intended to allow a foreign national to visit the Austria and other Schengen countries for a limited period of time. If you wish to reside in the Austria for an extended period of time (more than 90 days), you need to apply for a long term visa directly at the Austria Embassy / Consulate General in Turkey.

- Taken against a white background
- Without sunglasses
- Without hat or other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons
- Spectacles should not have toned or reflecting glasses
- The frame of the spectacles may not cover the eyes
