Short Term Visa

(For a maximum stay of 90 days per 6 months)

If you wish to visit Denmark for a short period of time, you must obtain a visa prior to your arrival if you come from a country listed here.

Short Stay visas allow the holder to transit through or remain in Schengen States for a maximum period of three months (90 days) within a period of six months (180 days) from the entry date into the Schengen Area.

Multiple or Single Entry? Single entry visa allows you to enter the country just once during its validity and if you want to come back, you need to apply for the visa again. While multiple entry visas allow you to come back multiple times.

Decision

After the mission has processed your visa application, you will be contacted by the Visa Application Centre.

Your application is either:

Approved - in which case you:

will receive your passport with a visa sticker. Please note that the Danish mission will add a grace period of 15 days to the validity period of your visa. Therefore, the validity period and duration of stay on the visa sticker is not the same. It is your responsibility to check that the information on your visa sticker is correct. Please see How to read the visa sticker.

Please be aware that possession of a visa does not confer an automatic right of entry in to the Schengen area. At the Schengen border, you will be asked to present your passport with the Schengen visa sticker and you may be asked to present documentation such as proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay in the Schengen area, documentation of the purpose of your visit (invitation, hotel booking(s) etc.) or a return ticket departing the Schengen area.

Or refused - in which case you:

will receive a refusal letter with your passport, explaining the reason behind the refusal. The refusal letter indicates whether the refusal will be appealed automatically to the Danish Immigration Service or whether the applicant should appeal individually. The refusal letter contains a guidance on how to appeal the decision. If you wish to submit a complaint regarding the conduct of the staff at the Visa Application Centre, contact the Visa Application Centre where you handed in your application.

Please note that if your visa application is refused, the visa fee and service fee to the Visa Application Centre is not reimbursed.

Processing Time

Processing time is now 15 days, when all required documentation has been provided..

Please be informed that the case processing time is calculated from the day the Embassy register the application in the visa system. It is not calculated from the time you apply online or submit the application at a VFS center.

Overview

This visa is solely for the purpose of leisure travel including vacationing, cruising, sightseeing and other recreational activities. If during any portion of their visit to Denmark the applicant intends to engage in business, or official duties he/she must refer to other relevant visa categories.

Increased fees for visa applications

Please note: As of 02 February 2020 the Schengen visa fee per person (Short Stay Visa) will increase from 60 to 80 euros or the equivalent amount in your local currency. For children between 6-12 years old the visa fee will increase to 40 euros or equivalent

Note: From the 01 July 2019, you must fill in your visa application and pay the visa application fee online using ApplyVisa.um.dk

Please Note:

• The applicable VFS service fee is as per the current exchange rate. It is subject to change.
• The service fee is inclusive VAT and is non-refundable.
• Visa Application Centre offers an optional service at a nominal additional cost. Please see more detail from Additional Services tab.

The service fee and additional services at The Visa Application Centre are to be paid only in ILS.

Please print out this Checklist and prepare the required documents accordingly, also prepare an additional copy of your Passport ID page for Passport Collection.

Note:

• Kindly make sure that your application contains sufficient, correct and adequate information. All information must be correct and reflect your planned trip.
• In case any document is missing on submission date, additional documents can be submitted only by applicants themselves at VFS within 5 business days.
• Applicant can be asked for additional documents or may be called for an interview if deemed necessary by the Embassy.

Photo Specifications

Size of photograph for visa applications.

After the instalment of a new system for scanning biometrics, including photographs for visa application, it is now possible to lodge a photograph of size 35 x 45 mm. Length of the head should not exceed 30 to 36 mm in length from chin to top of hair.

The photograph must still be in color with bright background.

Danish Visa Application Centre has been instructed by Danish mission to inform applicants that the visa application is not acceptable if the photograph does not comply with the above format.

Applicants may therefore obtain a new photograph that meets all requirements before The Danish Visa Application Centre can receive the application.
