Visa Types

SHORT TERM STAY

(For a maximum stay of 90 days per 6 months)

If you wish to visit Denmark for a short period of time, you must obtain a visa prior to your arrival if you come from a country listed here.

Short Stay visas allow the holder to transit through or remain in Schengen States for a maximum period of three months (90 days) within a period of six months (180 days) from the entry date into the Schengen Area.

Schengen visa must be obtained from the Embassy/Consulate of the country where the main purpose of travel lies. Therefore, please check your travel plans before submitting your application. In case of travel to multiple Schengen countries, please make your application to the one where you will be staying for the maximum number of days. If the duration of stay is the same in more than one Schengen country during the first trip, you must submit your visa application at the Embassy/Consulate of your first point of entry.

Please book appointments well in advance depending on your intended date of travel to avoid any inconvenience. Applications cannot be submitted earlier than six (6) months before the travel date. Please refer to the processing time specific to this Mission.

Red Carpet

The Red Carpet Program introduces simplified procedures for obtaining Danish Schengen visas for applicants who travel regularly to Denmark for business purposes. The aim is to assist those companies, organizations, NGO’s etc. that have business relations with a Danish company or organization.

The Red Carpet Program is open to private and public companies or organizations provided they meet the requirements mentioned on the local Danish embassy’s website. The accreditation of a company or organization must have taken place before an employee/associate can benefit from the Red Carpet Program.

    Size of photograph for visa applications

    After the instalment of a new system for scanning biometrics, including photographs for visa application, it is now possible to lodge a photograph of size 35 x 45 mm. Length of the head should not exceed 30 to 36 mm in length from chin to top of hair.

    The photograph must still be in color with bright background.

    Danish Visa Application Centre has been instructed by Danish mission to inform applicants that the visa application is not acceptable if the photograph does not comply with the above format.

    Applicants may therefore obtain a new photograph that meets all requirements before The Danish Visa Application Centre can receive the application.

    The minimum processing time for the application at the Consulate General of Denmark is approximately 15 calendar days.

    Please be advised that due to the above mentioned minimum processing time, we are not able to guarantee the return of passports by specific dates for travel.

    The fee to the Danish mission must be paid through the webshop Remember to bring the receipt of the payment when showing up VFS application centre.

LONG TERM STAY

Please notice that a fee has to be paid to the Danish Immigration Service prior to applying. The fees can be found here. Please make sure to pay the EXACT stated amount.

Important: Please note that if you have submitted your application directly to DIS to process your application, you will have to provide the case ID number of the payment made.

DIS will not be able to process your application if you do not provide the above mentioned information.

Important Notice:

From 01 July 2019, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark including all Danish diplomatic missions are introducing online payment of the embassy fee for Residence or Work permit. The embassy fee should be paid online using the following link Online Payment (https://dys.um.dk/permit/).

Guidelines: The receipt for the payment should be submitted at the Danish Visa Application Centre (VFS) when you hand in your passport, relevant documentation and supply biometrics. Please note that in Residence or Work permit cases there are three fees to be paid.
