If you wish to study in Germany and to stay more than three months in Germany, you will need to apply for a National visa – Student visa. The requirements for a National Visa are different from those for Schengen Visa.

The German Embassy in Singapore is the receiving office for Student visa applications. Your application will be forwarded to the German Embassy for processing.

The application should be submitted in the applicant’s country of usual residence or home country. However, if this is not possible, and the applicant is staying legally in Singapore, the application may be submitted at the Joint Visa Application Centre in Singapore.

VFS service fee (inclusive of GST) is charged per visa application in addition to the applicable visa fee.

All fees can be paid by cash, Credit or Debit cards at the Visa Application Centre.

Cheque payments and direct bank transfers are not accepted.

All fees are non-refundable.

Please provide 2 recent colour photographs, meeting the following requirements:

• Taken against a light (white or light grey) background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
• Clear quality and the face should cover at least 80% of the picture
• Size 3,5 x 4,5 cm

If the photographs presented do not meet these requirements, then the visa application will be considered incomplete and applicant will be asked to take new photographs in the photo booth in the visa application centre.

Processing of the visa takes about 5 to 6 weeks upon submission of complete documents. The residence permit can be issued only upon approval by the competent authorities in Germany. You will receive a prompt notification upon completion of the processing. We ask that no status request is made if the required 5 weeks processing period has not yet passed.

Please be sure to submit your visa application well in advance, to avoid any inconveniences.
