VISA TYPES
Short term Visa
All applicants must fully comply with relevant documentation required for respective visa categories. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Those applying for short-stay Schengen visas for Hungary or Latvia ( which include tourism, business, visit to family/friends, transit visa) are advised to submit their application at the Hungary Visa Application Centre in Tehran.
The convention implementing the Schengen Agreement came into force on 26 March 1995. The Schengen countries require visitors to obtain a common visa, which permits entry into the Area. The Schengen countries have reached agreements with each other on entry requirements and a common Visa Application Form.

Travel Medical Insurance:
Applicants for one or two entries must also prove that they are in possession of adequate and valid travel medical insurance, covering emergency medical, hospitalisation and repatriation (including in case of death). The minimum cover should be of 30,000 EUR. This insurance must be valid for the entire Schengen area and throughout the duration of the stay.
Applicants for a uniform visa for more than two entries (multiple entries) shall be in possession of travel medical insurance covering their stays; at the time of application, they need to prove that they have a travel medical insurance covering the period of their first intended visit, and sign the related statement in the application form.

Applicants need to submit their Application form with the new photo format, as explained below:
The photo must fulfill the norm specified by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation).
- Use a white background.
- The photo must be no more than 6-months old.
- Portrait style photo (no posing) showing both edges of face clearly.
- Close up of the head and top of the shoulders so that the face takes up 70–80% of the photograph.
- Photo in sharp focus and clear.
Please follow these instructions carefully. If the photograph provided does not meet these requirements, your application will be considered incomplete.

Applications accepted at the Hungary Visa Application Centre will be submitted on the next working day to the Embassy of Hungary for a decision.
The visa processing time is a minimum of 21 calendar days, provided that a complete file is submitted. Please note: the process may take longer in certain cases.

Eea/eu Nationals

Overview
Family members of EEA citizens, who hold a blue coloured residence documentation in their passports with the document Type ’Residence Card Of A Family Member Of An Eea National’ Are not required to have a visa in order to travel to Hungary if either of the conditions below apply:
- If joining the EU/EEA National in Hungary, providing the invitation letter and a copy of the ID of the EU national

If traveling together with the EU/EEA National to Hungary.
Family members of EEA citizens not holding the above mentioned card, i.e. the residence card of a family member of an EEA national, need a visa to travel to Hungary. They should apply for a visa and prove that they are either traveling together with their EEA national family member(s) or traveling in order to meet their EEA national family member(s) (both cases should be proven by joint flight tickets or a letter from the EEA national family member and a single return flight ticket respectively) Please see other supporting documents required.

- Duly filled application form
- A valid passport with two blank pages – Passport should be valid for at least 90 days beyond your return date
- Both your passport and your residence permit in the Iran must be valid for at least three months beyond the returning date of your trip;
- Two recent colour, passport size photos with white background
- Spouse’s original valid Passport
- Marriage Certificate in English accompanied by an Apostle if marriage has taken place outside the EU
- Birth Certificate in English accompanied by an Apostle if birth place of dependent is .outside the EU
- A photocopy of the documentation.
- Proof of travel with the EU National eg: flight tickets/ hotel bookings
Note: Marriage and full birth certificates issued outside the EU must be duly translated into English and legalised according to the 1961 Hague convention by The Embassy of Hungary / Embassy of the origin country in Iran.

- A valid passport, not older than 10 years – Passport should be valid for at least 90 days beyond your return date. At least 2 empty pages should be available in your passport
- Both, your passport and your residence permit in Iran must be valid for at least three months beyond the returning date of your trip.
- One recent colour passport size photo in white background
- Original birth certificate. Full birth certificates issued outside the EU must be duly translated into English and legalised by The Embassy of Hungary / Embassy of the origin country in Iran.
- Letter of consent for travel date, date of return, etc from the other parent. if only one parent is present when applying for a visa along with the child at the Hungary visa application centre. Passport copies of both parents must be provided. Or sole custody agreement in case of single parents.
- Fully booked and paid return flight tickets;
- Fully booked and paid hotel reservation OR a letter of invitation in original by your host in Hungary, signed by him/her and with a photocopy of his/her valid I.D. and his/her residence permit in Hungary if non-EU-citizen;,
- An original reference letter only by school or University. The letter should be addressed to ‘ The Embassy of Hungary, Tehran’
- Travel insurance covering the intended period of stay with a minimum coverage of EURO 30,000 for emergency hospital and return expenses. Click here

This visa is solely for the purpose of leisure travel including vacationing, cruising, sightseeing and other recreational activities. If during any portion of their visit to the Hungary the applicant intends to engage in business, or official duties he/she must refer to other relevant visa categories.
Travel Medical Insurance:
Applicants for one or two entries must also prove that they are in possession of adequate and valid travel medical insurance, covering emergency medical, hospitalisation and repatriation (including in case of death). The minimum cover should be of 30,000 EUR. This insurance must be valid for the entire Schengen area and throughout the duration of the stay.
Applicants for a uniform visa for more than two entries (multiple entries) shall be in possession of travel medical insurance covering their stays; at the time of application, they need to prove that they have a travel medical insurance covering the period of their first intended visit, and sign the related statement in the application form.

Photo Specifications
Applicants need to submit their Application form with the new photo format, as explained below:
The photo must fulfill the norm specified by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation).
- Use a white background.
- The photo must be no more than 6-months old.
- Portrait style photo (no posing) showing both edges of face clearly.
- Close up of the head and top of the shoulders so that the face takes up 70–80% of the photograph.
- Photo in sharp focus and clear.
Please follow these instructions carefully. If the photograph provided does not meet these requirements, your application will be considered incomplete.

Processing Time
Applications accepted at the Hungary Visa Application Centre will be submitted on the next working day to the Embassy of Hungary for a decision.
The visa processing time is a minimum of 21 calendar days, provided that a complete file is submitted. Please note: the process may take longer in certain cases.
All visa decisions are solely at the discretion of the Embassy of Hungary, Iran.

PHOTOGRAPH QUALITY The photographs must be:
No more than 6-months old
35-40mm in width
Close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70 -80% of the photograph
In sharp focus and clear
Of high quality with no ink marks or creases
The photographs must be:
Show you looking directly at the camera
Show your skin tones naturally
Have appropriate brightness and contrast
Be printed on high quality paper, and at high resolution Photographs taken with a digital camera must be high quality colour and printed on photo-quality paper.
STYLE AND LIGHTING The photographs must be:
Be colour neutral
Show your eyes open and clearly visible-no hair across your eyes
Show you facing square on to the camera, not looking over one shoulder (portrait style) or tilted, and showing both edges of your face clearly
Be taken with a plain light-coloured background
Be taken with uniform lighting and not show shadows or flash reflections on your face and no red eye
GLASSES AND HEAD COVERS If you wear glasses:
the photograph must show your eyes clearly with no flash reflection off the glasses, and no tinted lenses (if possible, avoid heavy frames - wear lighter framed glasses if you have them)
Make sure that the frames do not cover any part of your eyes.
Head coverings:
Are not permitted except for religious reasons, but your facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of your face must be clearly shown.EXPRESSION AND FRAME Your photographs must:
