Airport transit visa may be issued to stay in an international transit zone at the airport of Latvia for nationals of several countries who need to change an airplane at the airport of Latvia. In principle an airport transit visa allowing to stay in an international transit zone is required for citizens of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka or foreigners holding travel documents issued by the aforementioned countries.

Online Application Form

According to the Immigration Law of Latvia, students from the third countries (except nationals of these countries) who are enrolled into education institutions accredited in Latvia can apply for the long stay visa at the diplomatic and consular representations of Latvia in the third countries. After receiving a long stay visa (valid for 90 days), upon entering Latvia, students are subjected to apply for a residence permit at the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs of Latvia (OCMA).

Long stay visa submission procedure

• Applicants from India can schedule their appointment only after uploading documents on Hello Verify for verification, to upload the document please click on the link. However the applicants who are not able to book the appointment online they needs to contact the VFS Global India call center at +91-22-67866025 to schedule an appointment for Student Long term (D- Visa) application. The applicants from Sri Lanka can book the appointment online from the website of Latvia Visa Application Centre in Sri Lanka.( https://www.vfsglobal.com/Latvia/Sri-Lanka/). However the applicants applying from Sri Lanka are not able to book the appointment online can contact VFS Global call center at 9411-2350608 and can write on [email protected] to schedule an appointment.

All student applicants needs to appear for an interview.

The days for visa interview & submission of visa documents will be as follows:

• Applicants are requested to check the operational day of the center before booking the appointment.
• Submit visa application at the nearest VFS Global Latvia Visa application center in India. Applicants applying across India will be called at respective VACs for an interview through video conferencing.
• VFS charges a service fee of INR 2434 and video conferencing fee of INR 3200 (If applicable) per application. All VFS’s charges are inclusive of Goods & Service Tax –SGST @9% and CGST@9%. As of the 9th of July 2018, the VFS charges (Service fee & video Conferencing fee, if applicable) have to be paid through contact center/online when scheduling an appointment to submit the application; without pre-payment of the VFS charges, you will not be able to secure an appointment. • Hello verify can only be used once with the application, if the customer is reapplying customer need to re do the Hello verify process.

List of documents for the visa application upon positive OCMA decision on Resident Permit is as follows –

• Long Stay Visa application form completed online, printed, and signed by the applicant.
• One photo (size 35mm x 45 mm) taken during visa submission-Live Photo.
• Passport with a period of validity extending at least three months after the intended date of departure from Latvia or other Member State and containing at least two blank pages. Copies of the identification pages and the pages that contain information about previously issued visas.
• Copy of OCMA Positive decision on granting residence permit rights.
• Flight itinerary indicating the intended Schengen area entry date.
• Travel insurance for 90 days starting with the Schengen area entry date.
• Visa fee of 60 EUR
