SHORT TERM VISA
Schengen visa enables a foreigner to travel to the Schengen area. The following countries form part of the Schengen area: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and Sweden. With a Schengen visa you can travel freely between these countries as long as the Schengen visa is valid.
You have to apply for your Schengen visa at the Embassy of your main destination. If the main destination cannot be determined, responsibility for issuance of the visa lies with the Schengen state of first entry.
The Embassy of Sweden in Dhaka is representing Belgium, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Luxembourg and Poland in visa cases. The process and required documents for these countries are the same as when applying for a visa to visit Sweden.
Processing normally takes 15 days, but may in some cases take up to 45 calendar days . A Schengen Visa application cannot be submitted before six (06) months of the intended travel date and for Seafarer, nine (09) months inadvance
A visa gives the opportunity to enter the Schengen area, but does not imply a legal right to do so.
There are different requirements for different types of visas. The purpose of a proposed visit cannot be altered once the visa has been issued.

Overview
This category of visa caters to people wishing to visit Sweden or any of the countries represented by the Embassy of Sweden in Dhaka, Dhaka for a maximum of 3 months for business purposes. Please note that if you are going to work for a period less than 3 month you will need both a work permit and a Schengen visa and if that is the case you should contact the Embassy of Sweden for consultation.
Applicants will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.
The process and required documents are the same for all the countries that the Embassy of Sweden represents (Belgium, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Poland and Slovenia).

Medical travel insurance:
Visa applicants are required to have medical travel insurance. It must cover any costs that may be incurred in connection with emergency medical aid, urgent hospital treatment or transport to the country of origin for medical reasons or in the event of death. The insurance has to cover the intended period of stay in the Schengen area according to article 15 and article 24, Schengen visa Code 810/2009.
Applicants for Schengen visa are required to submit an adequate and valid travel insurance to cover any expenses that might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment.
The minimum coverage should be EUR 30,000.00.
The insurance may be purchased in Bangladesh or abroad.
The proof of insurance has to be submitted upon application.
The insurance must cover the entire period of stay and be valid throughout the territory of all the Schengen states: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
All applicants that have been granted multiple entry visas are required to be in possession of a medical travel insurance for every subsequent visit to Schengen territory within the duration of the multiple entry visa.
Exempted from the medical insurance requirement are those who:
- Travel with a diplomatic passport
- Travel with an official passport for official reasons with a Note Verbal
- Apply for an airport transit visa
- Are relatives of an EU citizen exercising their right to free movement, i.e. his/her husband or wife, registered partner, common law spouse, children under 21 years of age, older children who are financially dependent on their parents living in the Schengen area and parents who are financially dependent on their children living in the Schengen area.

One [1] photograph of passport style and size [35 x 45 mm] for all applicants, including minors. Your photograph must be:
- colour photo
- recent and of true likeness
- showing full face
- taken without headgear
- head coverings and hats are only acceptable due to religious beliefs, and even then, may not cover any portion of the applicant's face
- taken against a plain, evenly lit and light background.

This category of visa caters for people wishing to apply for a visa to visit relatives and friends.
The Swedish Embassy in Dhaka also represents Finland, Iceland, Slovenia, Latvia, The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Poland in visa matters. The process and required documents are the same as when applying for a Sweden/ Schengen visa.

Official Visa

Overview
This category of visa caters to people wishing to visit Sweden or any of the countries represented by the Embassy of Sweden in Dhaka, Dhaka for a maximum of 3 months for official purposes.
According to Schengen regulation (Handbook of Visa Code) article 7.10 it is the applicant who needs to submit the necessary documents to be granted a visa and the Embassy does not need to make further investigation into an application if the documentation is not sufficient. Failure to submit the required documents will lead to a refusal of the application
Applicants will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.
The process and required documents are the same for all the countries that the Embassy of Sweden represents (Belgium, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Poland and Slovenia).

Family Members Of EU/EEA Citizens

Seamen Transit Visa

Overview
Applicants for a seaman’s visa must be employed in any capacity on board a vessel, and seeking to enter Sweden or any of the countries represented by the embassy of Sweden solely in pursuit of his/her calling as a seaman, with the intention of departing with the vessel or reshipping on other vessel that is bound for a foreign port or place or one coming to the Sweden or any of the countries represented by the embassy of Sweden to join a vessel in this country.
The process and required documents are the same for all the countries that the Embassy of Sweden represents (Belgium, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Poland and Slovenia).

Documents Required

Photo Specifications
One [1] photograph of passport style and size [35 x 45 mm] for all applicants, including minors. Your photograph must be:
- colour photo
- recent and of true likeness
- showing full face
- taken without headgear
- head coverings and hats are only acceptable due to religious beliefs, and even then, may not cover any portion of the applicant's face
- taken against a plain, evenly lit and light background.
