Short Stay Visa
You can be granted a Short Stay Visa to visit Switzerland as a tourist or for the purpose of a family visit, public assignment, business travel, study visit or any other activities that do not require a residence permit. Application shall be lodged at the earliest 6 months but at the latest 15 working days before the intended travel time.
Tourism

Overview
You wish to go to Switzerland for a tourist visit and will stay no longer than 90 days. You must provide a hotel booking and an itinerary covering the whole stay in Switzerland and Schengen space, stating the dates and place of stay.

Application Fees
To submit your visa application, you will have to pay a visa fee and a service fee. The visa fee is collected on behalf of the Embassy of Switzerland and the service fee is collected for the processing of your visa application at the VFS visa center.
The payment of visa fees and service fees do not in any way guarantee that a visa to Switzerland will be granted. The decision to grant such a visa is at the sole discretion of the Embassy of Switzerland. Visa fees and service fees are both non-refundable and non-transferable should the visa application be denied by a Consular staff or should the applicant decide to terminate his or her application.
The visa fee and service fee have to be paid in Ghana New Cedi (GHS).

- Clear quality and with the face in focus
- Full face: non-smiling, no sunglasses, no hat/cap or any head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of his/her religious belief or ethnic background
- Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print)
- Photograph attached (paper clipped) to the Visa Application Form
If the photographs presented do not meet these requirements then the visa application will be considered incomplete and applicant will be asked to take new photographs in the photo booth in the visa application centre.

Travel Medical Insurance
Obligatory travel insurance for Schengen visa applicants
All applicants for Schengen visa are required to submit an adequate and valid travel insurance to cover any expenses that might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons/repatriation of mortal remains, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment. The insurance must cover the entire period of stay and be valid throughout the territory of all the Schengen states: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxenburg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
The minimum coverage should be EUR 30,000.00. The insurance may be purchased in Ghana or abroad. The proof of insurance has to be submitted upon application. All applicants that have been granted multiple entry visas are required to sign a declaration stating that for every subsequent visit to Schengen territory within the duration of the multiple entry visa, he or she will be in possession of a medical travel insurance.

Processing Time
Usually, processing time for visa applications is 10 working days (starting from the time when the Embassy or Consulate received the application, not including the transportation time), counting from when all requested documents have been submitted. This period may be extended in specific cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is required, for example, when an applicant must come to an interview or submit additional documentation requested by the Embassy or Consulate. During certain times of the year, the processing time can be longer due to the high volume of applications. It is recommended to submit your visa application at least two weeks prior to date of travel date and if possible, even earlier ahead of the holiday period.
Please note that the application processing time and decisions on visa applications are the sole prerogative of the Embassy or Consulate. VFS Global has no role to play in these areas of the application process.

All applicants for Schengen visa are required to submit an adequate and valid travel insurance to cover any expenses that might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons/repatriation of mortal remains, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment. The insurance must cover the entire period of stay and be valid throughout the territory of all the Schengen states: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxenburg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
The minimum coverage should be EUR 30,000.00. The insurance may be purchased in Ghana or abroad. The proof of insurance has to be submitted upon application. All applicants that have been granted multiple entry visas are required to sign a declaration stating that for every subsequent visit to Schengen territory within the duration of the multiple entry visa, he or she will be in possession of a medical travel insurance.
