- Scientific researchers, as regulated in recommendation No. 2005/761/EG of the European Parliament
- Representatives of charitable organizations up to the age of 25 years, who travel to take part in meetings or conferences
- Family relatives of EU- /EFTA- and Swiss citizen
- Members of the Olympic committee
- Holders of a normal passport going officially to meetings or conferences organized by an agency according to the following list

Documents Required
Please note that the visa category chosen by an applicant must be based on the purpose of travel and the decision must be made by the applicant him/herself - Visa Application Centre staff will not be able to assist you in making this decision. An application filled incorrectly and carelessly can cause refusal of a visa application. The applicant may need to submit additional details or applicant can be asked to come for an interview at the Embassy.

Tourism Travelling to Switzerland for touristic purposes.

Business Travelling to Switzerland for a business trip. Spouses, children and other members of the family accompanying persons must file a tourist visa.

Visit Travelling to Switzerland for a family / friendly visit (less than 90 days).

Medical Travelling to Switzerland for medical treatment. Persons accompanying the patient need to apply for a tourist visa (or a visitor’s visa, if they are invited by a private person).

Facilitated Procedure Facilitated procedure requirements are reduced (mainly for “official” visits to seminars / workshops, etc. organized by the international organizations and their sub- sections in Geneva and / or department (of Foreign Affairs).

Note: We cannot accept photographs that do not meet these requirements
Please provide two recent passport size pictures, not older than 6 months (size 35 – 40 mm in width, no copy or scanned picture). The photographs should be in colour and:
- Taken against a light background (white or off-white) so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
- Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
- Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
- Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background].
- Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.

Usually, processing time for visa applications is 10 working days (starting from the time when the Embassy or Consulate received the application, not including the transportation time), counting from when all requested documents have been submitted. This period may be extended in specific cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is required, for example, when an applicant must come to an interview or submit additional documentation requested by the Embassy or Consulate. During certain times of the year, the processing time can be longer due to the high volume of applications. It is recommended to submit your visa application at least two weeks prior to date of travel date and if possible, even earlier ahead of the holiday period.
Please note that the application processing time and decisions on visa applications are the sole prerogative of the Embassy or Consulate. VFS Global has no role to play in these areas of the application process.

National visa for a stay of more than 90 days
If you plan to stay more than 90 days in Switzerland, you must request a national visa. VFS Global Swiss Visa Application Centre does not cover these types of visa applications, which should be submitted directly to the Swiss Embassy in Tunis with prior appointment.
