Overview

Every applicant is required to make an appointment before visiting the visa application centre and every applicant has to submit his/her Schengen visa application in person, including children/infants as well

Applicants, who intend to travel purely for tourist purposes, i.e. visiting for leisure, recreation or sightseeing, and provide for their own accommodation (hotel, hostel, B&B, camping, …) need to apply as Tourist..

Every Business visa application has to be confirmed by an invitation letter from a business/company based in Latvia, if not, applicant will need to apply as Tourist.

Eligibility

Applicant must at least meet the following criteria in order to be eligible to submit a Schengen visa application:

1. holding a valid passport/travel document
2. holding a valid Egyptian residence permit in case of non-Egyptians.

• applying for a C short stay (Schengen) visa;
• must be citizens or valid residence permit holders (studies, employment or family member) of countries of the territorial competence of the Embassy of Latvia to Egypt: Noteikumi par Latvijas Republikas diplomātisko un konsulāro pārstāvniecību teritoriālo kompetenci vīzu pieprasīšanai.

Both the standard and the supporting documentation have to be recent, i.e. not older than 1 month, and need to be provided for every Schengen visa application.

Please provide one recent colour photograph (not more than 6 months old) of yourself, meeting the following requirements:

• Taken against a light (white or off-white) background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
• Clear quality and with the face in focus
• Full face: non-smiling, no sunglasses, no hat/cap or any head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of his/her religious belief or ethnic background
• Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print)
• Photograph attached (paper clipped) to the Visa Application Form

If the photographs presented do not meet these requirements, then the visa application will be considered incomplete and applicant will be asked to take new photographs in the photo booth in the visa application centre.

Processing Time

The minimum processing time of a visa application is 15 working days, so applicants are advised to leave enough time for the Embassy to process their visa application; no guarantees can be given on the visa application’s return date.

It is advisable to plan your travel well in advance to avoid any inconvenience. The Embassy will not process visa applications submitted late as a priority.

Photo Specifications

Please provide one recent colour photograph (not more than 6 months old) of yourself, meeting the following requirements:

• Taken against a light (white or off-white) background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
• Clear quality and with the face in focus
• Full face: non-smiling, no sunglasses, no hat/cap or any head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of his/her religious belief or ethnic background
• Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print)
• Photograph attached (paper clipped) to the Visa Application Form

If the photographs presented do not meet these requirements, then the visa application will be considered incomplete and applicant will be asked to take new photographs in the photo booth in the visa application centre.

Processing Time

The minimum processing time of a visa application is 15 working days, so applicants are advised to leave enough time for the Embassy to process their visa application; no guarantees can be given on the visa application’s return date.

It is advisable to plan your travel well in advance to avoid any inconvenience. The Embassy will not process visa applications submitted late as a priority.

D long stay (National) visa for applicants with study exchange or voluntary work agreement.

If the intended stay in Latvia is less than 90 days in 180 day period, applicant shall apply for C short stay (Schengen) visa.

Eligibility

Applicant must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible to submit a Schengen visa application:

• holding a valid passport/travel document;
• holding a valid Egyptian visa or residence permit in case of non-Egyptians;
• applying for a D long stay (National) visa;
• must be citizens or valid residence permit holders (studies, employment or family member) of countries of the territorial competence of the Embassy of Latvia to Egypt: Noteikumi par Latvijas Republikas diplomātisko un konsulāro pārstāvniecību teritoriālo kompetenci vīzu pieprasīšanai.

Visa Fees

Visa Fees applicable with effect from 01 January 2025 for Student visa in Egypt is:

The above mentioned Visa Fee should be paid in cash, credit card and debit card.

• VFS service fee of EGP 1874 (VAT tax included) is charged per visa application, in addition to the applicable visa fee.
• All fees are non-refundable.

Documents Required

• The list of documents below is not an exhaustive list of documents and the applicant can always be asked to provide additional information/documents, if requested by the Embassy.
• Both the standard and the supporting documentation have to be recent, i.e. not older than 1 month, and need to be provided for every Schengen visa application.
• Applicants always have to bring and present their original documents, but they only need to submit photocopies of the same, unless the requirements specify that an original document has to be submitted.
• If the applicant is under the age of 18, one of the Parents must at least accompany the minor during the visit at VFS Center, and the other parent must provide an original official (Notarized) consent letter in both English and Arabic. also, if one of the applicants is living abroad must provide an original official (Notarized) consent letter in both English and Arabic. please note that original birth certificate translated into English must be provided and provide copies from parent's passports.
