Short Term Visa
Short-term Schengen Visa applications (up to 90 days)
The processing time for South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, and Namibia Nationals is approx. 15 calendar days from the day it arrives at the Embassy.
For other Nationalities the processing time is 30 calendar days from the day it arrives at the Embassy.
For Nigeria, Ghana and Bangladeshi Nationals, the processing time is 45 calendar days from the day it arrives at the Embassy.
Application must be accompanied by the following documents:
- Application form completely filled and signed by the applicant.
- Valid Passport (valid for at least next 6 months and not older than ten years.)
- Visa Fee
- Photograph (the face of the applicant must cover at least 80 % of the frame and white background)
- Flight Ticket
- Hotel Reservation
- Overseas travel medical insurance valid for all Schengen-countries .The insurance has to cover the applicant for at least 30,000 Euros or equivalent, for all risks e.g. accident, illness, medical emergency evacuation etc. The policy has to clearly specify the period of validity and has to cover the entire duration of the trip including the date of arrival and departure.
- Personal bank account statement (proof of sufficient financial means) of last three months
- Letter from employer
- Pay slips for last 3 months-not mandatory
- Photocopy of the Passport Bio Page and Last Page.
The application will not be accepted if any of these documents is missing. These documents must be provided in the above mentioned order.

Tourist visa application is applicable in case you are travelling for tourism purposes. This visa is given for travel period of less than 90 days

VISA CATEGORIES VISA FEE IN ZAR Schengen Visa (A, C): 90 € (1768) Schengen Visa (A, C) children 6-11 years: 45 € (884)
There is a service charge of 21 Euro or the equivalent in local currency of R413 (inclusive of VAT) applicable per application over and above the Visa Fees for all applications. The Special Courier facility for the return of processed applications is available at a nominal fee (please check under premium services for the amount charged in ZAR) and this is per Application. This is an optional service. The only acceptable modes of payment of Visa Fees are:
Applicants may choose to pay at the application centre using Credit/Debit Card or deposit the amount at below Bank. Proof of payment must be received with the visa application. The passport number of the applicant must be clearly stated as reference on the proof of payment or a bank deposit slip.

- For citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cape Verde, Georgia, Moldova (holders of non-biometric passports), Ukraine and Russian Federation, visa fee is 35 EUR.

- An original application form for Schengen visa (A4) (www.mzv.cz/visaform) filled in completely and legibly and signed by the applicant (or the legal guardian for children).
- A proof of payment of the visa fee.
- A passport valid for 90 days after the applicant’s last day of stay in Schengen territory, with two blank visa pages for the visa sticker. Please note that the Czech Republic DOES NOT accept South African Temporary passports.
- A copy of the passport (only the data page with the photograph and the signature).
- A recent passport sized photograph (3,5 x 4,5 cm) in colour to be glued, do not staple.
- A proof of financial funds for the stay at the territory of Schengen states, e.g. recent bank account statements showing movements over the last 3 months.
- A round trip air-ticket and itinerary with dates and flight numbers specifying an entry to and an exit from the territory of Schengen states. If more than one entry is required, a reason must be provided.
- Proof of a valid travel health insurance for the entire duration of the stay in the Schengen territory – a letter from the insurance company covering medical expenses, including emergency hospital treatment and repatriation (transportation) to the home country/country of residence, stating the name of the person, the policy number, the period of cover and the medical coverage equivalent of 30.000 EUR.
- Proof of accommodation in all Schengen countries visited during the trip.
- Visa of the final / main (with the longest stay) country of destination must be obtained (if needed) before applying for a Schengen visa.
- A certified parental consent from both parents is required for children under the age of 18 travelling alone. If a child travels with only one parent, the other parent must produce a notarised (certified) consent. For pupils and students – an original letter from a school, a college or a university.
- Official Invitation from the person to be visited, if applicable, certified by the Alien Police inspectorate in the Czech Republic (it is required when a physical or a legal person invites the applicant to the Czech Republic and provides accommodation, financial support or other from the requirements list).
- Spouses of EU/EEA citizens and their children under the age of 21: Full Marriage or Full Birth certificatesmust be submitted with the application as a proof of the relationship with a EU/EEA spouse/parent.

Photo Specifications
Photographs must follow the below guidelines
- in colour
- 35x45 mm
- printed on normal photographic paper
- taken against a light background
- full face taken straight forward 30-36 mm from point of the chin to the head of hair
- the person is to be captured with neutral facial expression, with his/her eyes open and mouth closed
- The photograph of a person, who for religious or medical reasons is wearing a head cover, must show the person's cheeks, chin and forehead
- children in photographs must be alone, and their faces fully visible and eyes open

A visa application cannot be submitted earlier than 6 months prior to the beginning of the planned journey and can be submitted by:
- Applicant himself
- For minors by a parent or legal guardian
Standard visa processing time for South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, and Namibia passport holders is 15 calendar days from the day of receipt of the application at the Embassy. In case the documents are not submitted as per requirements or due to other factors or justified reasons, the processing time may be extended to 30 or 60 days.
For Nigeria, Bangladesh and Ghana applicants, the processing time for both passport holders will be 45 days from the day application is received at the Embassy.
Standard visa processing time for passport holders other than the above listed countries is minimum 30 days (and up to 60 days)

Business visa application is applicable in case you are travelling for business purposes. This visa is given for travel period of less than 90 days. This visa will be issued for business purpose only; for gainful professional activities (even if the work is not financially rewarded) you have to apply for a work permit.

The agreements don´t regulate the terms and conditions of stay over 90 days, which remain to be regulated by national legislation.)

- Proof of a valid travel health insurance for the entire duration of the stay in the Schengen territory – a letter from the insurance company covering medical expenses, including emergency hospital treatment and repatriation (transportation) to the home country/country of residence, stating the name of the person, the policy number, the period of cover and the medical coverage equivalent of 30.000 EUR.
- Proof of accommodation in all Schengen countries visited during the trip.
- Visa of the final / main (with the longest stay) country of destination must be obtained (if needed) before applying for a Schengen visa.
- A certified parental consent from both parents is required for children under the age of 18 travelling alone. If a child travels with only one parent, the other parent must produce a notarised (certified) consent. For pupils and students – an original letter from a school, a college or a university.
- Official Invitation from the person to be visited, if applicable, certified by the Alien Police inspectorate in the Czech Republic (it is required when a physical or a legal person invites the applicant to the Czech Republic and provides accommodation, financial support or other from the requirements list).
- Spouses of EU/EEA citizens and their children under the age of 21: Full Marriage or Full Birth certificatesmust be submitted with the application as a proof of the relationship with a EU/EEA spouse/parent.

Photo Specifications
Photographs must follow the below guidelines
- in colour
- 35x45 mm
- printed on normal photographic paper
- taken against a light background
- full face taken straight forward 30-36 mm from point of the chin to the head of hair
- the person is to be captured with neutral facial expression, with his/her eyes open and mouth closed
- The photograph of a person, who for religious or medical reasons is wearing a head cover, must show the person's cheeks, chin and forehead
- children in photographs must be alone, and their faces fully visible and eyes open

Processing Time
VISA ISSUANCE PROCEDURE AND TIMELINES
A visa application cannot be submitted earlier than 6 months prior to the beginning of the planned journey and can be submitted by:
- Applicant himself
- For minors by a parent or legal guardian
Standard visa processing time for South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, and Namibia passport holders is 15 calendar days from the day of receipt of the application at the Embassy. In case the documents are not submitted as per requirements or due to other factors or justified reasons, the processing time may be extended to 30 or 60 days.
For Nigeria, Bangladesh and Ghana applicants, the processing time for both passport holders will be 45 days from the day application is received at the Embassy.
Standard visa processing time for passport holders other than the above listed countries is minimum 30 days (and up to 60 days)
