Short Term Visa
Denmark is part of the Schengen Region in Europe and therefore a short stay visa for Denmark is also called Schengen Visa. A Schengen visa is issued for the purpose of a short stay (less than 90 days) in Denmark and other Schengen countries. The Schengen visa is strictly a visitor's visa and does NOT give the holder right to reside or work in Denmark.
You are only allowed to stay in the Schengen area on a visitor’s visa for up to 90 days over a period of 180 days. To calculate your stay in the Schengen area, you can use the Schengen Visa Calculator
The Danish representation cannot be held liable if a mistake has occurred when printing the visa sticker. How to read your sticker here.
Please note that in Denmark you are not allowed to take up residence or work on a Schengen visa. If you plan to work or stay longer than 90 days in Denmark, you need to apply for a residence and/or work permit.
In accordance with article 9(1) of the new visa code applications should be handed in no later than 15 calendar days before the start of the intended visit.
Planning ahead and handing in the application as soon as possible is always a good idea since unforeseen problems, such as incomplete documentation, may arise and prolong the case processing time. However, a visa application cannot be accepted if handed in more than 6 months before the intended departure.
A short stay visa can be applied for the below listed purpose of travel.
Please click on the applicable purpose of travel to access the checklists of documents available under the ‘Documents required’ section. These documents will need to be submitted along with your application.
