Schengen Visas
GENERAL INFORMATION
- Greece is a member state of the European Union and a part of the Schengen Treaty. These two capacities determine visa requirements for foreign citizens who wish to visit Greece.
- A Schengen visa is needed when you are visiting one or several of the countries of the Schengen Area (i.e. Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic. Malta, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Hungary). The duration of your total stay in Schengen countries shall not exceed 90 days in a period of 6 months, starting from the date of first entry.
- Turkish citizens do need a visa to visit Greece (except holders of diplomatic, service and special (green) passports)
- You have to apply for a Schengen visa at the Greek Visa Application Centre in Edirne if:
- your main destination (the Schengen country where you will spend the longest time) is Greece, or
- you are spending the same amount of days in several Schengen countries, but Greece is your first port of entry into the Schengen Area.
Applicants who reside in Edirne, Tekirdağ ve Kırklareli, must submit their applications to Edirne Visa Application.

Please note, the residence permit of the applicant who is not Turkish citizen, must be valid at least 6 months from her/his departure date.

Visa fee has to be paid upon submitting the application -– cash and only € (Euro) is accepted. In case of visa refusal the fee will not be returned. Consul will take the ultimate decision upon the type of validity of visa. The bearers of Turkish service passports (so called: green or grey) are entitled to enter territory of Greece without visa for a stay not longer than 90 days and not for work purposes.
Visa Fee exemptions list:Family members of EU and Swiss citizens School pupils, students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake stays for the purpose of study or educational training Researchers traveling for the purpose of carrying out scientific research, Holders of diplomatic and service passports. In certain cases,. Representatives of non-profit organizations aged 25 years or less, participating in seminars. Conferences. Sports. Cultural or educational events organized by non-profit organizations may also be exempted. -

Photo Specifications
The photograph must be in color. It should be without border. It should have a light colored background only so that features are distinguishable and in contrast against the background. It should have a close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph. It should be in sharp focus and clear. It should be of high quality with no ink marks and creases. The photograph must show you looking directly at the camera. It should be 4 cm X 5 cm. It should show your skin tone naturally. It should have appropriate brightness and contrast. The photograph should be a recent one not more than 3 months old. Photograph can be taken with headgear, The main characteristics of the face must be apparent from the photograph. Chin, nose, eyes and eyebrows must not be covered; the forehead should be uncovered to the extent that the shape of the face is apparent. It should be without hat/cap. It should be without the applicant's hair tucked behind his/her ears. The photograph must show facing square on to the camera, not looking over the shoulder or tilted, and showing both edges of the face clearly. It should be taken with uniform lighting and not show shadows or flash reflections on the face and no red eye If wearing glasses the photograph must show the eyes clearly with no flash reflection off the glasses and no tinted lenses (if possible, avoid heavy frames – lighter framed glasses to be worn). Make sure the frame does not cover any part of the eye. The photograph must show alone (no chair backs, toys or other people visible) looking at the camera with a neutral expression and the mouth closed. The photograph should not have any staple marks. Scanned & color photocopies would NOT be accepted. -

Notice:Visa fee has to be paid upon submitting the application -– cash and only € (Euro) is accepted. In case of visa refusal the fee will not be returned. Consul will take the ultimate decision upon the type of validity of visa. The bearers of Turkish service passports (so called: green or grey) are entitled to enter territory of Greece without visa for a stay not longer than 90 days and not for work purposes.

Photo Specifications
The photograph must be in color. It should be without border. It should have a light colored background only so that features are distinguishable and in contrast against the background. It should have a close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70-80% of the photograph. It should be in sharp focus and clear. It should be of high quality with no ink marks and creases. The photograph must show you looking directly at the camera. It should be 4 cm X 5 cm. It should show your skin tone naturally. It should have appropriate brightness and contrast. The photograph should be a recent one not more than 3 months old. Photograph can be taken with headgear, The main characteristics of the face must be apparent from the photograph. Chin, nose, eyes and eyebrows must not be covered; the forehead should be uncovered to the extent that the shape of the face is apparent. It should be without hat/cap. It should be without the applicant's hair tucked behind his/her ears. The photograph must show facing square on to the camera, not looking over the shoulder or tilted, and showing both edges of the face clearly. It should be taken with uniform lighting and not show shadows or flash reflections on the face and no red eye If wearing glasses the photograph must show the eyes clearly with no flash reflection off the glasses and no tinted lenses (if possible, avoid heavy frames – lighter framed glasses to be worn). Make sure the frame does not cover any part of the eye. The photograph must show alone (no chair backs, toys or other people visible) looking at the camera with a neutral expression and the mouth closed. The photograph should not have any staple marks. Scanned & color photocopies would NOT be accepted. -
