    If you want to visit Switzerland for business purposes, you must submit documents to obtain a Schengen visa, which is a short-term visa that allows you to stay in Switzerland and any Schengen country for a maximum of 90 days in any 6-month period.

    Schengen countries: Austria, Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Greece, Spain, Netherlands, Iceland, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Latvia, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Sweden, Hungary and Italy. VFS service fee is not refundable for returned files. For Schengen visa types, you can apply 6 months before your travel.

    • Where can I obtain the consent letter?

      • You can obtain it from a notary public. It must be issued within 6 months prior to your appointment.

    • There are other people’s names on my flight ticket and hotel booking. Is that a problem?

      • You must provide a photocopy of the first page of a valid Schengen visa/green passport for any person other than yourself. If the person does not have a Schengen visa, you must provide proof of this if they are applying for a Schengen visa or have already applied for one.

    • I will travel to another country after Switzerland. My first entry will be France, but I will stay longer in Switzerland. Should I apply for a Swiss visa?

      • Yes, you should apply for a Swiss visa if you will stay the longest in Switzerland, even if your first entry is another Schengen country.

    • I will travel to other countries after Switzerland. My first entry will be Italy, but I will stay in Switzerland the same number of days. Should I apply for a Swiss visa?

      • No, if your first entry is Italy but your stay duration is the same, you must apply for a Italy visa since your first entry is the main criterion.

    • Do I need to submit my hotel reservation for each country I plan to visit after Switzerland?

      • Yes, you must submit all your hotel reservations and travel bookings.

    • Is there a problem if my bank statement is older than one month?

      • Your bank statement must be issued within 15 days before your appointment. Older statements will not be accepted.

    A Photograph submitted with the application for a visa should comply with the following specifications:

    • Must be an up-to-date photograph (dated max 6 month old)
    • Must be a colour photograph printed on normal photographic paper
    • The passport photo must be 35 by 45 mm (width x height).
    • Width: from ear to ear, between 16 mm and 20 mm.
    • Height: from age 11: from chin to crown, between 26 and 30 mm.
    • up to age 11: from chin to crown, between 19 and 30 mm
    • Full face taken straight forward 30 mm from point of the chin to top of hair
    • Taken against a white background
    • Without sunglasses
    • Without hat or other head covering unless you wear this for religious reasons
    • Spectacles should not have toned or reflecting glasses
    • The frame of the spectacles may not cover the eyes

    Pursuant to Article 19 of Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 July 2009 establishing a Community Law on visas (the Visa Law), an application for an admissible visa shall be decided within 15 calendar days from the date on which it is lodged. In individual cases where the application requires a particularly detailed examination, this period may be extended.
