Overview

A Schengen short stay visa entitles the holder to visit the Schengen countries for Tourism, visiting friends / family or other non-business related purposes up to 90 days within a 180 day period from date of first entry. The stay may be either continuous or several visits depending upon whether the visa is single or multiple entry.

EAST JURISDICTION : Applications from the residents of the States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Orissa, Tripura, Sikkim and West Bengal, the Union Territory of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Nepal are to be decided by the Consulate of Italy in Kolkata.

The place of issue of a passport or the permanent resident mentioned in the passport does not determine the jurisdiction but it is the current place where an applicant resides for the past 6 months that determines whether he/she belongs to a specific jurisdiction.
All the applicants who are claiming that they are working from home since last 6 months they should provide a declaration regarding the same on the Letter Head of the organization duly signed by the HR Head.
Please note that visa applications cannot be processed from applicants (including Indian nationals) not permanently residing in India. Those visiting India and wishing to go to Italy from India - even on their way back to their country of residence - need to apply for their Schengen visa before departing from the relevant Consulate of their country of residence.

	The photographs must be: of white background and the applicant should wear dark coloured clothes no more than 6-months old 3.5cm x 4.5cm close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70–80% of the photograph in sharp focus and clear of high quality and resolution with no ink marks or creases
	The photographs must: show you looking directly at the camera show your skin tones naturally have appropriate brightness and contrast be printed on high quality paper, and at high resolution Photographs taken with a digital camera must be high quality colour and printed on photo-quality paper.

Style and lighting

	If you wear glasses: the photograph must show your eyes clearly with no flash reflection off the glasses, and no tinted lenses (if possible, avoid heavy frames— wear lighter framed glasses if you have them) make sure that the frames do not cover any part of your eyes. Head coverings: - are not permitted except for religious reasons, but your facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of your face must be clearly shown.

Expression and frame
	Your photographs must: - show you alone (no chair backs, toys or other people visible), looking at the camera with a neutral expression and your mouth closed.

Overview

Family reunion visas are visas intended to reunite family members specifically husbands/wives, children and parents economically dependent on the sponsors. It is a long term (type D) period visa. The Family reunion visas must be authorized through the specified authorization ("NULLA OSTA") issued by the competent Italian Authorization in which are listed the family members who may apply for the visa.

Please note: the family members have to provide documentary evidence about the family ties which will be formally and substantially verified by the Embassy of Italy.

Overview

Family reunion visas are visas intended to reunite family members specifically husbands/wives, children and parents economically dependent on the sponsors. It is a long term (type D) period visa. The Family reunion visas must be authorized through the specified authorization ("NULLA OSTA") issued by the competent Italian Authorization in which are listed the family members who may apply for the visa.

Please note: the family members have to provide documentary evidence about the family ties which will be formally and substantially verified by the Embassy of Italy.

As per the instructions received from the Embassy of Italy, New Delhi -From 01 August 2016 all applicant/s need to pay verification fee before filing an application at the VFS Italy Visa Application Center all India and Nepal for “Family re-union” applications.
