Please note that the travel insurance has to be minimum 10 days if your duration of trip is less than 10 days. Further if the duration is more than 10 days then need to purchase travel insurance covering the entire duration of stay in the Schengen area.

Visa applicants are advised to note that starting from 15 June 2017 travel medical insurances issued by Indian insurance companies other than the ones listed above will not be accepted for Schengen visa procedure.
However, visa applicants may seek to obtain insurance from Italy only where claims against the insurance company would be recoverable in a Schengen State.
Short Stay visa entitles an applicant, who does not hold a residence permit, to stay in Italy for an uninterrupted period or a total of successive periods of stays that does not exceed 90 days in every six months since the date of first entry. Italy is one of the 25 European countries forming the Schengen Area which have no border controls between them.
In case of transit visas, the duration is authorized in accordance with the period of stay required for the transit.
After scrutinizing the visa application by Embassy, your application may have the following
- Visa applied for is granted.
- Further documentation is requested.
- Applicant is requested to appear for a personal interview.
- The application is rejected.

Short stay visa applications cannot be submitted more than 90 days in advance before the proposed date of travel.
However, they must be submitted at least 15 calendar days prior to the proposed date of travel. VFS Global is the outsourcing office responsible for the reception and release of passports for short stay visa applications.

Overview
A Schengen short stay visa entitles the holder to visit the Schengen countries for Tourism, visiting friends / family or other non-business related purposes up to 90 days within a 180 day period from date of first entry. The stay may be either continuous or several visits depending upon whether the visa is single or multiple entry.
EAST JURISDICTION : Applications from the residents of the States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Orissa, Tripura, Sikkim and West Bengal, the Union Territory of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Nepal are to be decided by the Consulate of Italy in Kolkata.
The place of issue of a passport or the permanent resident mentioned in the passport does not determine the jurisdiction but it is the current place where an applicant resides for the past 6 months that determines whether he/she belongs to a specific jurisdiction.
All the applicants who are claiming that they are working from home since last 6 months they should provide a declaration regarding the same on the Letter Head of the organization duly signed by the HR Head.
Please note that visa applications cannot be processed from applicants (including Indian nationals) not permanently residing in India. Those visiting India and wishing to go to Italy from India - even on their way back to their country of residence - need to apply for their Schengen visa before departing from the relevant Consulate of their country of residence.You’ll also need to know the documents that you’ll have to submit along with your application, how long the application might take and fees you’ll have to pay.

close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70–80% of the photograph
in sharp focus and clear
of high quality and resolution with no ink marks or creases
The photographs must:
show you looking directly at the camera
show your skin tones naturally
have appropriate brightness and contrast
be printed on high quality paper, and at high resolution
Photographs taken with a digital camera must be high quality colour and printed on photo-quality paper.
Style and lighting The photographs must:
be colour neutral
show your eyes open and clearly visible—no hair across your eyes
show you facing squareon to the camera, not looking over one shoulder (portrait style) or tilted, and showing both edges of your face clearly
be taken with a plain light-coloured background
be taken with uniform lighting and not show shadows or flash reflections on your face and no red eye
Glasses and head covers If you wear glasses:
the photograph must show your eyes clearly with no flash reflection off the glasses, and no tinted lenses (if possible, avoid heavy frames— wear lighter framed glasses if you have them)
make sure that the frames do not cover any part of your eyes.

Religious

Overview
This visa provides for the temporary stay of persons who will be full-time religious workers in Schengen. Religious work is work of a religious nature for which the applicant has had relevant religious training. The religious work proposed must directly serve an organization’s religious objectives. It would usually be religious work involved in:
- Providing spiritual leadership
- Conducting worship
- Teaching or guidance in religion
- Ministering, pastoral care or proselytizing
- Other high level specialist work in relation to the above

This visa option is for students who wish to undergo Internship in Italy.
EAST JURISDICTION : Applications from the residents of the States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Orissa, Tripura, Sikkim and West Bengal, the Union Territory of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Nepal are to be decided by the Consulate of Italy in Kolkata.
The place of issue of a passport or the permanent resident mentioned in the passport does not determine the jurisdiction but it is the current place where an applicant resides for the past 6 months that determines whether he/she belongs to a specific jurisdiction.
All the applicants who are claiming that they are working from home since last 6 months they should provide a declaration regarding the same on the Letter Head of the organization duly signed by the HR Head.
Please note that visa applications cannot be processed from applicants (including Indian nationals) not permanently residing in India. Those visiting India and wishing to go to Italy from India - even on their way back to their country of residence - need to apply for their Schengen visa before departing from the relevant Consulate of their country of residence.You’ll also need to know the documents that you’ll have to submit along with your application, how long the application might take and fees you’ll have to pay.
