Overview

This visa provides for the temporary stay of persons who will be full-time religious workers in Schengen. Religious work is work of a religious nature for which the applicant has had relevant religious training. The religious work proposed must directly serve an organization’s religious objectives. It would usually be religious work involved in:

• providing spiritual leadership
• conducting worship
• teaching or guidance in religion
• ministering, pastoral care or proselytizing
• other high level specialist work in relation to the above

Schengen Visa

Schengen visa have to be obtained from the Embassy of the country where the main purpose of travel lies. Therefore, please check your travel plans before making your application to the Italy Embassy. In case of travel to multiple Schengen countries, please make your application to the Embassy where you will be staying for the maximum number of days, or from the point of first entry into the Schengen countries, if the duration of stay is the same in more than one Schengen country.

A Schengen short stay visa entitles the holder to visit the Schengen countries for Tourism, visiting friends / family or other non-business related purposes up to 90 days within a 180 day period from date of first entry. Overview

Invitation visa application is applicable in case you are travelling for official purposes or you have been invited by Official Organizations. This visa is given for travel period of less than 90 days. In case you are holding an Official Passport, you application will have to include a TPN – Third Party Note issued by the relevant authority.

In case the travel purpose is Official, then an official email of request should be sent to the Visa Section of the Embassy of Italy in Colombo from your inviting party in Italy and from your Sri Lanka Organization whom you are representing. Also in case you are holding the TPN, this should be emailed to the Visa Section of the Embassy of Italy from the relevant local issuing authority.

EU Citizens visa is applicable in case you are part of the below categories: This visa is given for travel period of less than 90 days (in this case return travel ticket is required) or for a longer permanence in Italy(in this case one way travel ticket is required):

Application form must be printed in A3 size only, application forms in A4 standard size will not be accepted at the submission time. A3 size formats are available at VFS.

Overview

Applicants can request a new passport booklet if the expiring date of the current passport is less than six months.
Passport which are already expired can also be submitted for renewal.

The service of ordinary passport renewal can be availed by Italian citizens who are regularly resident in Maldives. The Ordinary Passport booklet counts 48 pages and has a validity of ten years.

The service of Italian Ordinary Passport renewal from Male is currently not available.

Applicants who are not regularly resident and are only temporarily staying in Maldives, can only apply for ETD – Emergency Travel Documents. The ETD – Emergency Travel Document is a booklet of 15 pages with validity of 5 days.

ETD and ordinary passports renewal are requested for below purposes:

• Application for issuing new passport in lieu of lost passport
• Application for issuing new passport in lieu of stolen passport
• Application for issuing new passport in lieu of damage passport
• Application for issuing new passport in lieu of expired passport

Please note that for ordinary passport renewals, minors can apply only through Embassy of Italy in Colombo. VFS will not accept any request of ordinary passport renewals for minors. For more information about passport renewal for minors, please connect with Embassy of Italy in Colombo.

Applications for minors applying for ETD - Emergency Travel Documents, will be accepted by VFS.

Kindly note that all Italian citizens who wish to avail of the ordinary passport renewal services, must submit their fingerprints and digital signature at the Honorary Consulate of Italy in Male prior to VFS appointment submission.

Applicants requesting an ETD – Emergency Travel Document, do not need to submit their fingerprints.

Visa Fees

To request the issuance of a new ordinary passport with 48 pages and having validity of ten years, the consular fees should be paid online after the submission at the Center. While booking the appointment for the submission you will be requested to pay the International Courier fees and Convenience fees, please follow the below link to schedule an appointment and to pay online the fees.

To request the issuance of an ETD – Emergency Travel Document with 15 pages and validity of 5 days, the consular fees should be paid online after the submission at the center, please follow the below link to schedule an appointment and to pay online the International Courier and Convenience fees.

Please note that the online fees will be collected in LKR (Sri Lankan rupees) value: a convenience fee of 900 LKR and the two ways International courier fees of 8071 LKR are payable online for each application while scheduling the appointment.

After your passport renewal submission VFS will connect with you for the second online payment of the consular fees.

Below service charges are payable in cash at the VFS counter during the application submission:

• Service Charge for Italian passport services in Maldives – 436 MVR (Per person),
• Optional, SMS notice service – 35 MVR (Per person)
• Optional, Premium Lounge service – 330 MVR (per person)

Documents Required

In case of expired or damaged passport:

• Passport Application Form
• One recent passport-size photograph not more than 6-months old and 35-40mm in width with white background (For more info, please go to photo specifications page)
• Personal presence of the applicant at the Application Centre is a must
• Prescribed fees
• Original passport to be renewed

In case of stolen or lost passport:

• Passport Application Form
• One recent passport-size photograph not more than 6-months old and 35-40mm in width with white background (For more info, please go to photo specifications page)
• Personal presence of the applicant at the Application Centre is a must
• Prescribed fees
• Colour photocopies of the first six pages of the lost/stolen passport (please note that if no photocopies can be provided by applicant then the request for a new passport will take longer due to further checks that Embassy will have to do with the Italian relevant authorities)
• Any other applicant’s identity document copy (colour photocopy) e.i. driving license, identity card, ect.
• Police report issued by the Maldivian authorities with reference to the stolen/lost passport (please note: if the police report is issued in local language, then it will need to be translated into English language)

All applicants are requested to apply personally for their passport renewal and to sign the Passport Application Form directly at the counter of VFS, during submission, for identification purposes.

Photo Specifications

h Quality
	The photographs must be: No more than 6-months old 35-40mm in width Close up of your head and top of your shoulders so that your face takes up 70 -80% of the photograph In sharp focus and clear Of high quality with no ink marks or creases
	The photographs must be: Show you looking directly at the camera Show your skin tones naturally Have appropriate brightness and contrast Be printed on high quality paper, and at high resolution Photographs taken with a digital camera must be high quality colour and printed on photo-quality paper.

Style and lighting
	The photographs must be: Be colour neutral Show your eyes open and clearly visible-no hair across your eyes Show you facing square on to the camera, not looking over one shoulder (portrait style) or tilted, and showing both edges of your face clearly Be taken with a plain light-coloured background Be taken with uniform lighting and not show shadows or flash reflections on your face and no red eye

Glasses and head covers

If you wear glasses: the photograph must show your eyes clearly with no flash reflection off the glasses, and no tinted lenses (if possible, avoid heavy frames - wear lighter framed glasses if you have them) Make sure that the frames do not cover any part of your eyes. Head coverings : Are not permitted except for religious reasons, but your facial features from bottom of chin to top of forehead and both edges of your face must be clearly shown.

Expression and frame
	Your photographs must: show you alone (no chair backs, toys or other people visible), looking at the camera with a neutral expression and your mouth closed.

Processing Time

Your passport will reach Colombo after 4-5 working days from the date of submission at VFS in Male, post which the renewal will be processed by Embassy of Italy in Colombo. The new passport will be sent back to Maldives and you may be able to collect it directly from VFS in Male.

Once your new passport will be ready for collection, VFS in Male will connect with you.

Note: - Signatures are required to be affixed before the Honorary Consulate of Italy’s Representative only if you are applying for a new Ordinary Passport.

For ordinary passport renewal requests, you are required to visit the Honorary Consulate of Italy in Male to submit your fingerprints before the application at VFS in Male.
