Beijing Jurisdiction Checklist for Critical Skills Work Visa (updated on 09 October 2024)

For Beijing Jurisdiction applicants, please also provide and note:

1. One color passport size photograph with white background should be provided with the application, refer to area “Photo Specifications” for more details
2. One copy of the passport personal data page (on A4 paper) should be provided. There should be at least two blank pages on the passport (one to endorse visa and one for entry stamps) and the passport should be valid for no less than 30 days after the expiry of your intended visit.
3. Apart from the Health Certificate for International Traveler (certificate with red cover), a full original Medical Certificate DHA Form (DHA layout) should be submitted as mandatory document. Both reports should include the applicant's passport number with full name. DHA layout Form can be downloaded from the area of “Download Forms”
4. If the original Police Clearance Certificate is non-English language, formal English translation is required.

6. If you submit the original documents without photocopies, the original documents will not be returned to you.
7. Please ensure that all documents are translated in English if there are any documents provided only in Chinese.

For Shanghai Jurisdiction applicants, please note:

1. According to the latest regulations of the South African Department of Home Affairs, Critical Skills Work Visa will be based on the PBS points system, please use the point form.
2. Please refer to the Critical Skills Occupation List to evaluate related occupations.
3. All documents must be signed by the applicant himself, and all originals or scans must be printed and photocopied, and the content must be clearly visible.
4. Please issue the invitation letter (if needed) according to the standard format.
5. In addition to the International Travel Health Examination Certificate (small red book), the original medical certificate in the form required by the South African Department of Home Affairs is also a mandatory application material, which must include the applicant's name and passport number.

A foreigner is a spouse of a South African citizen or permanent resident for five years and satisfies the Director-General that a good faith spousal relationship exists. Such permit shall lapse if at any time within two years from issuing of the permit, the good faith spousal relationship no longer subsists, save for case of death.

A foreigner who has been issued with a permanent residence permit in terms of section 26(b) shall, within the last six months of the second year following the issuing of that permit, avail himself or herself for an interview at any office of the Department.

A permanent residence permit may be issued to a foreigner of good and sound character that has received an offer for permanent employment, provided that -

Such foreigner has proven to the satisfaction of the Director-General that the position exists and that the position and related job description was advertised in the prescribed form and no suitably qualified South African citizens or permanent resident was available to fill it.

The yearly limit of available permanent residence permits contemplated in section 27(a)(ii) of the Act shall be as determined from time to time by the Minister, after consultation with the Ministers of Trade and Industry, Labour, Basic Education and Higher Education and Training, by notice in the Gazette.
