Short Term Visas- Schengen "C'" Type

Important Notice:

Timings for reporting back – All applicants who need to report back to Italian Embassy upon arrival in India may do so on Tuesday and Thursday between 15:00 to 16:00, With Prior Appointment.

All Applicants who submitted their visa applications at the Embassy Counter and are required to submit further documents may sumbit them on Tuesday and Thursday between 15:00 to 16:00 Prior Appointment is mandatory.

NOTICE FOR APPLICANTS FOR THE VISA FOR ITALY

Those who come from Afghanistan, Kenya, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, and Syrian Arab Republic - both residents of the aforementioned countries and persons who have stayed there for more than four weeks - must be in possession of the international polio vaccination certificate attesting that they got vaccinated against polio between 4 weeks and 12 months prior to travel date.

The submission of the aforementioned document in the Visa application for Italy is an additional eligibility requirement both for issuing the Visa and crossing the external borders.

Consular Posts of Schengen States approved specific travel medical insurance policy schemes for corporate travels of travel insurance companies on this list with 70 years of age as upper limit of appropriate coverage. However, acceptance of travel medical insurance policy schemes for group travels (e.g. tour or incentive groups) with 70 years of age as upper limit of appropriate coverage is conditioned on that Consular Posts of Schengen States would be able to check the coverage of individual members of these groups in the Travel Insurance Portals of Non-Life Insurers of the General Insurance Council (online verification tool).
Visa applicants are advised to note that other travel medical insurances issued by Indian insurance companies are not accepted for Schengen visa procedure. However, visa applicants may seek to obtain insurance in any other country where claims against the insurance company would be recoverable in a Schengen State.

Note:

Visa applicants for a Schengen visa for one or two entries shall prove that they are in possession of adequate and valid travel medical insurance to cover any expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment or death, during their stay(s) on the territory of the Schengen States. Visa applicants for a uniform visa for more than two entries (multiple entries) shall prove that they are in possession of adequate and valid travel medical insurance covering the period of their first intended visit. In addition, such applicants shall sign the statement, set out in the application form, declaring that they are aware of the need to be in possession of travel medical insurance for subsequent stays. The insurance shall be valid throughout the territory of the Schengen States and cover the entire period of the person’s intended stay or transit. The minimum coverage shall be EUR 30 000. Applicants shall, in principle, take out insurance in their country of residence. Where this is not possible, they shall seek to obtain insurance in any other country. When assessing whether the insurance cover is adequate, consulates shall ascertain whether claims against the insurance company would be recoverable in a Schengen State.

With Effect from 21 January 2019, applicants can also submit their visa applications to 29 drop boxes located across India if bio metric has been given (Post 02 November 2015) at the following postal visa application centers.

The applicants using Postal service must enclose two separate bank demand drafts drawn in the name of “VFS Global Services Pvt. Ltd” payable at New Delhi for Visa Fee, VFS service charge and courier charge.

Demand draft 1 (visa fee) – This demand draft will be applicable for the visa fee as per Visa category. Please visit the visa fee page to know your fee - http://www.vfs-italy.co.in/delhi/shortterm.html

Demand draft 2 (VFS service charges) – This demand draft shall be for the VFS service charge per application inclusive of taxes. This is non-refundable. STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED

Applicant needs to ensure the following before handing over Visa application to Blue Dart officer:

  • Applicant completes his/her visa application form duly signed, ensures all supporting documents, photograph as per specification (collectively, the “Documents") and enclose his/her passport along with applicable demand draft for Visa fees & other charges.
  • Each application has to be packed in a separate envelope.
  • Each Applicant has to submit Courier consent form for passport delivery at applicant’s desired address.
  • Each Applicant has to fill up the form as Declaration form stating that he/she knows the complete process for submission at Drop off location.
  • The content of the envelope will be checked by the Blue Dart executive while booking the shipment and envelope to be sealed in his/her presence.
  • Blue Dart executive issues Air Waybill as a token of receipt. There is no payment to be made by applicants to Blue Dart directly at the time of booking the shipment.

    A Schengen short stay visa entitles the holder to visit the Schengen countries for Tourism, or other non-business related purposes up to 90 days within a 180 day period from date of first entry. The stay me be either continuous or several visits depending upon whether the visa is single or multiple entry.

    Important: Please note that if the applicant is in possess of an invitation from an EU/NON EU National he/she must apply under Visiting Family and Friends NON EU/ Visiting EU Citizen.

    In addition to the Visa Fees, applicant requires to pay the VFS Service Charge ( inclusive of Goods & Service Tax –SGST @9% and CGST@9%), of INR 536 (Payable in Cash/Online/Debit/Credit card) A Convenience fee of an amount INR 179/- shall be payable toward availability of multipal payment options-Debit and Credit card, Demand Draft in addition of cashs.

Long Term Visas-"D" Type

Important Notice:

NOTICE FOR APPLICANTS FOR THE VISA FOR ITALY

Those who come from Afghanistan, Kenya, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, and Syrian Arab Republic - both residents of the aforementioned countries and persons who have stayed there for more than four weeks - must be in possession of the international polio vaccination certificate attesting that they got vaccinated against polio between 4 weeks and 12 months prior to travel date.

The submission of the aforementioned document in the Visa application for Italy is an additional eligibility requirement both for issuing the Visa and crossing the external borders.

A long-term entry visa (for more than 90 days) is called a “National Visa” NV and grants access for long-term sojourn (stay) in the State that issued it allows, on condition it is still valid, the free circulation for a period of no more than 90 days per half-year in the territory of other Member States.

Note: “D”Type Visa (Long Term Applications) shall be submitted by applicants only and other persons accompanying applicant will not be allowed entering the Italy Visa Application centre in New Delhi, Jalandhar, Jaipur and Chandigarh.

The Embassy is using for verification two different legal consultants, blindly selected for each case on a rotational basis.     Family reunion visas are visas intended to reunite family members specifically husbands/wives, children and parents economically dependent on the sponsors. It is a long term (type D) period visa. The Family reunion visas must be authorized through the specified authorization ("NULLA OSTA") issued by the competent Italian Authorization in which are listed the family members who may apply for the visa.

    Please be informed that your Nulla Osta is valid for 6 months from the date of issue. Your application will be accepted only with a valid Nulla Osta.

    Please note that the date in which you book the appointment needs to be within the 6 months from the date of issuance of the Nulla Osta. The Nulla Osta remains valid once the appointment is booked within the 6 months, even if the date of the appointment falls after the expiration of the Nulla Osta.

    Starting 22nd October, slots will be available online for Family Reunion Category here. While booking the appointment, please make sure your Nulla Osta has been issued no more than 6 months ago, since expired Nulla Osta are not acceptable for submission.
    Be aware that application will not be completed in case your Nulla Osta is not visible in the Embassy records. At the moment of submission, VFS staff will verify if the Nulla Osta is present in the records shared by Embassy and will process the application only if the protocol no. is available in the list.

    At the time of booking, all applicants will be requested to complete the pre-payment of VFS service charge, following which they will receive their appointment confirmation.

    In addition, please note that entry of representatives inside the VFS office is restricted: only applicants are allowed.


    Important Notice for family reunion visa applicants:

    Kindly be informed that after the submission of the application for Family Reunion Visa and due payment of the relative visa fees, the applicant might be notified at a later stage (and only after the thorough analysis/assessment of the completeness and credibility of his/her application) about the need of paying an additional verification fees, for further investigations to be conducted in accordance with the provision of art. 2 bis of DPR 394/1999. The Embassy is using for verification two different legal consultants, blindly selected for each case on a rotational basis. In order to ensure confidentiality, the bank accounts of the three legal firms (A,B, C) are anonymous. You will be informed about the bank account (whether A or B or C) in which to deposit the fee.
    Kindly note that the Embassy of Italy does not hold any responsibility, for erroneous, double or Cash mode of payment done by the applicant in any bank for the verification fees.

    Please provide additional verification fees only if required to do so.

    Verification fees should be paid either by Demand Drafts or NEFT.

    HOW TO SUBMIT A VISA APPLICATION (Family Reunion)

    • Before submitting a visa application, every applicant is required to make sure that his/her name, surname, place of birth, date of birth and spouse/parents’ names on passport appear with the same spelling on all other relevant documents to be submitted, such as birth certificate, marriage certificate, divorce decree, death certificate, S.D.M. order etc.
    • In case of submission of a birth certificate issued on the basis of a late registration order by S.D.M or any other competent Authority, a copy of the order needs to be submitted along with the birth certificate.

    • Please note that birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce decrees, death certificates and S.D.M. orders, issued by the competent Authorities, are required to bear the following attestations:

      1. For documents issued in New Delhi

        • Attestation by the competent Sub Divisional Magistrate;
        • Apostille issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India

    This Visas are subject to an Authorization ("NULLA OSTA") issued by the competent Italian Authority ("SPORTELLO UNICO PER L'IMMIGRAZIONE") which is valid within 6 months from the date of issuing.

    People lawfully residing in Italy, having lost their residence permit or people having left the country before receiving the renewal of the said permit, can apply for the re-entry visa proving that he/she has travelled out of the country for genuine and important reasons.

    The visa will be issued from the competent "Questura" (Police Headquarters) in Italy. It is a long term period visa (type D) - Single entry.

    Important update:Indian citizens holding an expired Italian residence permit will be allowed to return to Italy only through the following procedure:

    • in case of a direct flight, they will not require a re-entry visa or any official declaration by the Embassy (if residence permit expired before 31st January 2020, they should carry renewal receipt and old residence permit with them);
    • in case of a non-direct flight, with a layover in another Schengen country, they will require a re-entry visa;
    • in case of a non-direct flight, with a layover in a non-Schengen country, they will require an official declaration by the Embassy.
